World Day of Prayer will be observed on Sunday, May 7th, also known as "Good Shepherd Sunday." The purpose of this day is to publically fulfill the Lord's instruction to, "Pray the Lord of the harvest to send laborers into his harvest" (Mt 9:38; Lk 10:2). Please pray that young men and women hear and respond generously to the Lord's call to the priesthood, diaconate, religious life, societies of apostolic life or secular institutes.

“Becoming a priest or a man or woman religious is not primarily our own decision.... Rather it is the response to a call and to a call of love”.

-Pope Francis, Address to Seminarians and Novices, July 6, 2013

Please continue to pray for two of our parishioners, Tommy Roide and Celine Bautista, who answered their call to vocations to the priesthood and religious life. Tommy will be

ordained Deacon in June and Celine will make her Profession of Faith in July.

Have you ever wondered how is the Lec onary arranged?

The Sunday cycle is divided into three years, labeled A, B, and C. 2008 was Year A. 2009 was Year B, 2010 is Year C, etc. In Year A, we read mostly from the Gospel of Matthew. In Year B, we read the Gospel of Mark and chapter 6 of the Gospel of John. In Year C, we read the Gospel of Luke. The Gospel of John is read during the Easter season in all three years. The first reading, usually from the Old Testament, reflects im-portant themes from the Gospel reading. The second reading is usually from one of the epistles, a letter written to an ear-ly church community. The year of the cycle does not change on January 1, but on the First Sunday of Advent (usually late November) which is the beginning of the liturgical year.

Did You Know?.....Stress can affect the children around you Everyone has stress, whether it is a bad day at work, car trouble, or simply too many things to do. It is important to learn how to manage your stress – for your own sake and for the children around you. Too much stress can make it hard to parent effectively. After a while, your children may show signs of stress, too. To learn more about how to identify and cope with stress, visit https://www.helpguide.org/articles/stress/stress-management.htm.
