Finger Protection (Or, how do I stop my fingers from bleeding – and how do I get away with it!)
AGB Rules
From the AGB Rules for Recurve....• (h) Hand Protection.• (i) Finger protection in the form of finger stalls or tips,
gloves, or shooting tab or tape (plaster) to draw, hold back and release the string is permitted, provided that such protection does not incorporate any device to hold, draw and release the string.
• (ii) A separator between the fingers to prevent pinching the arrow and/or a platform tab may be used.
• (iii) On the bow hand an ordinary glove, mitten or similar item may be worn but shall not be attached to the grip.

And for Longbow...• (e) Hand Protection• (i) Finger protection in the form of finger stalls or tips, gloves, or
shooting tab or tape (plaster) to draw, hold back and release the string is permitted, provided that such protection does not incorporate any device to hold, draw and release the string.
• (ii) A separator between the fingers to prevent pinching the arrow and/or a platform tab may be used. An extension so as to provide a greater angle, prior to release, other than that achieved by the use of a normal tab, glove or other form of finger protection, is not permitted.
• (iii) On the bow hand an ordinary glove, mitten or similar item may be worn but shall not be attached to the grip.

And for American Flatbow...• (f) Hand Protection. Finger protection in the form of
finger stalls or tips, gloves, shooting tab or tape (plaster) to draw, hold back and release the string is permitted.
• (i) The finger protection must not incorporate any device to hold, draw and release the string.
• (ii) An anchor plate or similar device attached to the finger protection (tab) for the purpose of anchoring is not permitted.
• (ii) On the bow hand an ordinary glove, mitten or similar item may be worn but must not be attached to the grip.

• (ii) A separator between the fingers to prevent pinching the arrow may be used. An anchor plate or similar device attached to the finger protection (tab) for the purpose of anchoring is permitted.
• (iii) A release aid that must not be attached in any way to the bow nor incorporate electric or electronic devices may be used.
• (iv) On the bow hand an ordinary glove, mitten or similar item may be worn but shall not be attached to the grip.
WA Rules
For Recurve:• 11.1.8. Finger protection in the form of finger stalls or tips,
gloves, or shooting tab or tape, to draw and release the string is permitted, provided they do not incorporate any device that shall assist the athlete to draw and release the string.
• 11.1.8.1. A separator between the fingers to prevent pinching the arrow may be used. An anchor plate or similar device attached to the finger protection (tab) for the purpose of anchoring is permitted. On the bow hand an ordinary glove, mitten or similar item may be worn but shall not be attached to the grip of the bow.
WA Rules
Compound bow...• 11.2.6. A release aid may be used provided it
is not attached in any way to the bow. Any type of finger protection may be used.

Field Archery – AFB (AGB rules)
American Flatbow – style of shooting...• (j) American Flatbow – Equipment as
defined Rule 206A with the following limitation:• (i) The bow must be shot using the
“Mediterranean” loose (three finger loose with 1 finger above and 2 fingers below the arrow). Archers must adhere to one anchor point and to one finger-position on the string throughout a tournament.
Field Archery - Barebow
WA Rules...• 22.3.8. Finger protection in the form of finger stalls or tips, gloves,
or shooting tab or tape, to draw and release the string is permitted, provided they do not incorporate any device that shall assist the athlete to hold, draw and release the string.
• 22.3.8.1. A separator between the fingers to prevent pinching the arrow may be used. An anchor plate or similar device attached to the finger protection (tab) for the purpose of anchoring is permitted.
• The stitching shall be uniform in colour. Marks or lines shall be uniform in size, shape and colour. Additional memoranda and markings are not permitted. On the bow hand an ordinary glove, mitten or similar item may be worn but shall not be attached to the grip of the bow.
Field Archery - Barebow
For AGB, the same rules apply as for Recurve bows.
However, for all Barebow, the following applies:1. tabmarks are allowed,2. scales are allowed,3. numbers on the tab providing information
about distances are not allowed.

WA – 3D ArcheryLongbows:• 22.5.7. Finger protection in the form of finger stalls or tips, gloves, or shooting tab or tape, to draw
and release• the string is permitted, provided they do not incorporate any device that shall assist the athlete to
hold,• draw and release the string.• 22.5.7.1.• An anchor plate or similar device attached to the finger protection (tab) for the purpose of• anchoring is not permitted. The bow must be shot using the "Mediterranean" loose (three finger• loose, with one finger above and two fingers below the arrow) or three fingers directly below the• arrow nock (index finger no more than 2 mm below nock), with one fixed anchor point. Archer• must choose either Mediterranean or three fingers under nock, but may not use both. Finger• protection when shooting with three fingers under the nock must have a continuous surface or• connected finger stalls, with no ability to shoot split finger. When using the Mediterranean loose a• separator between the fingers to prevent pinching the arrow may be used.
Conclusion
Think of the principle here.....
Finger protection is to be used to draw and release the string. Anything that adds an advantage to the holding of the string is not permitted.
