Fiona's Budding Poppy Knitted Pattern This poppy has 5 petals it was knitted using 8 ply acrylic wool on 3.75mm needles. You can vary the number of petals but 6 petals did look too busy. Petals (x5 for this version): Cast on 4 stitches Row 1 (RS): KFB (Knit into the front then the back of same stitch to increase one), K2, KFB (6 stitches) Row 2 (WS) and all WS Rows: Purl Row 3: KFB, K1, KFB, KFB, K1, KFB (10 stitches) Row 5: KFB, K2, KFB, K2, KFB, K2, KFB (14 stitches) Row 7: KFB, K1, KFB, K2, KFB, K2, KFB, K2, KFB, K1, KFB (20 stitches) Row 9: (KFB, K1)x4,K1, KFB, KFB, K1, (K1,KFB)x4 (30 stitches) Row 11: Knit Row 13: *Sl1, K2tog, PSSO* repeat to end (10stitches) Row 15: K2tog to end (5 stitches) Push this petal to the far end of your needle and sew in his tails to leave less spaghetti in your joining row. Cast on the 4 stitches of the next petal on your empty needle this way all petals finish on the same needle for ease of knitting row 16. This poppy has a black embroidery thread tassel and moss stitch centre but you can have fun centering any way you wish.
