Application:GPE Rim seal Foam Pourers are used for the protection of vertical open top floating roof (OTFR) storage tanks and comprises two elements – the Rim Seal Foam Generator (RFG) which produces expanded foam when supplied with foam solution and the Rim seal foam pourer (RFP) which delivers the foam gently into the rimseal area.

Available in two basic body sizes, with capacities ranging from 54 liters/minute at 4 bar to 220 liters/minute at 10 bar, each unit is factory-calibrated to deliver a specified flow at a given pressure upon customer design.

Rim Seal Foam Pourer

Features and Benefits:• The RFP is a low-profile unit which protects the foam from

high winds and guides it gently on to the tank wall. • The front shield allows fully developed foam to emerge in

a cohesive blanket that flows intact onto the inside wall of the tank.

• The stainless steel mesh at the foam exit helps to prevent blockage from insects and nesting birds.

• For new tanks, the new models can make the most cost-effective use of foam concentrate and water resources by producing the designed foam solution application rate. For retrofit onto existing tanks during refurbishment, The GPE RFG models can replace existing units without the need for expensive modification. Accurate GPE-calibration ensures full compatibility with existing foam concentrate induction systems.

• To further simplify installation, a fixing kit is now supplied as an optional extra which facilitates installation to the tank whilst still in use and without the need for hot work.

• TPF units are fitted with a unique bursting disc fabricated from impregnated graphite to seal the tank and prevent vapor loss. Graphite is used to ensure that the disc will burst when subjected to the pressure of foam entering the top chamber but will not burst during normal tank operations such as filling and discharging. The use of graphite enables the bursting pressure to be held within tolerances of ± 0.05 bar (± 0.75 Psi).

(Line proportioning systems are usually unacceptable due to the relatively high pressure loss across the line proportioner except in instances where back pressure to the foam maker is low and available water pressure to the line proportioner is relatively high.)

Application:• PERSIAN GPE High Back-Pressure Foam

Makers (HBPFM) is designed to generate expanded foam for the purpose of subsurface injection into a cone-roof liquid hydrocarbon storage tank. This unique foam maker is typically located outside the dike area surrounding the storage tank. Expanded foam is injected through a dedicated foam line or into a product line to the storage tank.

• The high back-pressure foam maker is capable of generating expanded foam within the optimum expansion ratio range of 2:1 to 4:1 for subsurface injection. The foam maker can discharge against a back pressure as high as 40% of the operating inlet pressure.

• A minimum foam maker inlet pressure of 100 psi (6.9 bar) is typically required for satisfactory operation.

• High back-pressure foam makers can be used with various types of proportioning equipment including bladder tanks, balanced

• The Persian GPE series of low expansion foam branch pipe has been designed with long range performance in mind. There are three basic models with nominal foam solution throughputs of 225, 450 and 900 liters/mm at 7 bar. Self- inducing models are available in the 225 and 450 liters/minute versions. All models produce finished foams of nominal expansion 10 : 1 and give foam streams of an exceptional range. To get the best results from these branch pipes we recommend use with either FP70 Plus Fluor protein foam or Alco seal AR-FFFP multi-purpose foam concentrate.

Application:• The Persian GPE Bladder-Tank System works

without any external energy supply. The concentrated foams stored in a rubber bag, which is placed inside the tank, and because of water which come from the main water line under pressure, the bladder in flutes and expanded is pushed out of the bladder through axial perforated pipe. On request welding on the body shall be according to the ASME standards. Concentrate from a pipe, and downstream after the Proportioner the premix has the right mixing rate. The bladder tank is equipped with vent valves, water and concentrate drain/fill valves, vessel support mounts, discharge pipe and a safety valve to protect it from overpressure.

Horizontal Bladder Tanks

• The center discharge piping, located within the bladder, insures that the foam concentrate flows to the upper discharge.

• During operation, water supplied from the system fills the area outside of the bladder, gradually displacing the foam concentrate inside the bladder causing the bladder to collapse until the supply is exhausted. The bladder discharges foam concentrate for the remotely mounted ratio controller at approximately the same pressure as the water supply. Since the bladder tank system is pressurized during operation, the bladder can be refilled with concentrate only when system is not in use.

Foam Porportioner System

Specifications:• The 8 ,“6 ,“4 ,“3” and 10” ratio flow controllers

are “between the flanges” units designed to fitbetween two ANSI 150 lb pipe flanges.

• The inlet nozzle is secured by two stainlesssteel set screws. This allows the nozzle to beremoved from the controller for cleaning and/or repair.

• Metering orifices are sized appropriately foreach specified type and percentage foamconcentrate. A stainless steel retaining ringsecures the metering orifice in place.

• The controller body is clearly marked witha flow direction arrow and label to identifythe type of foam concentrate and injectionpercentage ratio.

Application:• The Persian GPE Proportioner is a device

designed to meter the correct amount offoam concentrate into the water stream overa wide range of flows and pressures withminimal pressure loss. These devices are usedin conjunction with either a bladder tank ora foam pump proportioning system. Typicalapplications include flammable liquid storagetanks, loading racks, aircraft hangars, andheliports or anywhere flammable liquids areused, stored, processed or transported.

• The operating principle of the controller isbased upon the use of a modified venturi. Aswater passes through the inlet nozzle, pressureis reduced in the annular area of the nozzle.This reduction allows the metering of foamconcentrate into the water stream through afoam concentrate-metering orifice.
