Introduction

Arcadia Advocates is a partnership of five

advocates assisted by several legal asso-

ciates serving numerous clients in Ugan-

da and the world over. Since our set up,

we have served several individuals and

clients in diverse sectors, ranging from

profit-oriented concerns to welfare based,

international and national NGOs and Gov-

ernment agencies. Our strength is in un-

derstanding our clients’ needs and finding

the suitable solutions.

The founding partners; Francis Gimara,

Sylvester Henry Wambuga, Isaac Bakaya-

na, Robert Bautu and Paul Kuteesa de-

spite having practiced successfully as in-

dividuals in the past felt that the needs of

their clients would be better served if they

brought their practices under one roof.

The set up at Arcadia Advocates is without

a doubt a response to the demands from

clients who want to receive quicker, spe-

cialized and quality legal services under

one roof.

issues). Beyond the instructions given, we

also deliberately maintain close relation-

Banking and Finance Law

This department is headed by Isaac

Bakayana who has a wealth of experience

in undertaking both litigation and trans-

actional work for major financial institu-

tions in Uganda. We are retained by some

FRANCIS GIMARATeam Leader - ConsultancyFrancis holds an LLM from Cambridge University, a Bachelor of Laws from Makerere University (Kampala, Uganda) and a Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre (Kampala, Uganda). He also has a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from Edinburgh Business School (Herriot Watt University).

Francis is an Advocate of the High Court of Uganda and all the Courts subordinate thereto. He has participated in several commercial transactions, consultancies and undertaken litigation on behalf of his clients in many forums including the East African Court of Justice.

Francis is the current President of the Uganda Law Society, 2015-2016.

ISAAC BAKAYANATeam Leader - Banking and FinanceIsaac holds a Masters in Law degree from Warwick University, Bachelor of Laws from Makerere University and a Diploma in Legal Practice Law Development Centre (Kampala, Uganda).

Isaac is an Advocate of the High Court of Uganda and all the Courts subordinate thereto. He has represented clients in the Court of Appeal of Belgium at Antwarp and in the East African Court of Justice.

ROBERT BAUTUTeam Leader - Natural ResourcesRobert holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from Makerere University in Uganda and a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre, (Kampala, Uganda).

Robert is an Advocate of the High Court of Uganda and all the Courts subordinate thereto.

PAUL KUTEESATeam Leader - Litigation Paul holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from Makerere University in Uganda and a Post Graduate Diploma in legal practice from the Law Development Centre, Kampala, Uganda.

Paul is an Advocate of the High Court of Uganda and all Courts subordinate thereto. He has represented clients in the Court of Appeal of Tanzania.

departments across the firm, our litiga-

tion department comes in handy in pro-

viding the much-needed support to all

other departments. Some of our clients in

Our Consultant

Jacqueline Pimer holds a Masters in Law

in International Law and Economics from

World Trade Institute – University of Bern,

Switzerland, a Bachelor of Laws Degree

from Makerere University in Kampala,

Uganda and a Post Graduate Diploma in

Legal Practice from the Law Development

Centre.

The Consultancy Team is currently han-

dling a consultancy for legal services for

Uganda and Tanzania to support the Im-

plementation of the East African Commu-

nity Common Market Protocal.
