First Aid at Work (3 Days)

Course Information

The First Aid at Work course is designed to train individuals and company staff that requires HSE

approved first aid at work training to meet the requirements of the First Aid at Work Regulations.

This course will provide all the required first aid skills necessary to manage a patient that is not

breathing normally, is unconscious, bleeding or is ill or injured prior to the arrival of the emergency

services. It also covers other topics such as COSHH, RIDDOR and other first aid health and safety at

work information. The initial course is delivered over a minimum of 3 days (18 contact hours).

The 2 day refresher course covers the complete syllabus and updates any changes to procedures or

protocols.

This course is designed for people who want to receive our most thorough first aid training and is especially suited for nominated workplace first aiders looking to gain comprehensive, certified HSE approval.

Paediatric First Aid (2 Days)

Course Overview

The Paediatric First Aid course is designed to train individuals to provide immediate first aid care for infants and children. This course also includes adult essential skills in basic life support as they differ from the skills of the infant and child

This course meets the first aid requirements of Ofsted for the Early Years Foundation Stage standards, the National Childminding Association, the Pre-School Learning Alliance, and the Department for Children, Schools and Families Surestart guidelines for Paediatric First Aid.

The Paediatric First Aid course which includes adult basic life support skills also meets the recommendations of the HSE Health and Safety at Work Regulations for Appointed Persons in the Workplace.

This course is for people working with younger children - those up to eight years old – or working towards an NVQ in Childcare and Education.

Level 2 Award in Manual Handling (1 Day)

Course overview The Level Two Award in manual handling qualification provides essential information about manual handling hazards and their control. To give you maximum flexibility this one qualification gives you two possible outcomes. Part 1 can be delivered as a half-day programme for learners who only wish to gain the Level 2 Award in Principles of Manual Handling. Those who need to learn about practical manual handling techniques can stay on for a further half day training session and assessment to gain the full Level 2 Award in Manual Handling – Principles and Practice. This manual handling training qualification to benefit anyone who has to carry out any manual handling activities at work by introducing them to the hazards of manual handling, the risks involved and the controls that are available to help prevent injury. Course Overview The Level 2 Award in Fire Safety Principles allows candidates to develop their basic fire safety awareness. Level 2 Award in Moving People Safely (1 Day)

Course Overview

The Level two Award in Moving People Safely is intended as a further development qualification for

those working in areas where the assistance and movement of people is a prerequisite part of their

role. The qualification is underpinned by the safe principles of moving and handling but recognises the

special skills required when assisting and moving people.

Who Should Attend?

The qualification is suitable for new starters in organisations where the movement and assistance of

people is a key role as well as been suitable for refresher training.

Course Contents

Understand the personal health and dignity issue relating to the movement of a person by others.

Understand how a person handling plan and risk assessment reduce the risk of injury to everyone involved in moving a person

Understand the principles, types of equipment and testing requirements associated with moving people safely

Be able to apply safe principles when moving a person manually or with movement aids and equipment.


The assessment will be in two parts:-

Part one test learner’s knowledge on the subject and is assessed by a 30 minute 15 question multiple choice examination.

Successful learners must achieve at least 10 out 15 on the test to pass this element of the qualification.

Part two is a competency based assessment carried out by the nominated tutor.

Candidates must practically demonstrate the application of the correct techniques as indicated within the learning outcomes of the unit


Level 2 for Personal Licence Holders APLH (1 Day)

Course Overview

Under the Licensing Act 2003 anyone authorising the retail sale of alcohol must hold a personal license. The Level 2 Award for Personal Licence Holders (APLH) meets the criteria which allow the holder to apply for a personal license. This replaces the Level 2 National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders (NCPLH) from the 01/04/11. The course enables candidates to retail alcohol within the law, in a socially responsible manner and acts as a safeguard for their licence and their business.

Professional Barpersons Qualification (1 Day)

Course Overview

Unit 1: Responsible Alcohol Retailing (Half Day) - BIIAB has developed the BIIAB Level 1 ARAR in response to industry-wide training requirements to demonstrate commitment to responsible alcohol retailing. This qualification provides essential knowledge and understanding of the responsibilities of alcohol retailers authorised by a personal license holder to sell alcohol. It will enable those who complete the qualification to act within the law to support the designated premises supervisor to retail alcohol responsibly on their licensed premises.

Unit 2: The Customer and Drinks Service Unit (Half Day) is part of the Professional Barperson's Qualification - a national qualification for persons working in licensed premises in England and Wales. As a result of obtaining this unit, bar staff will be able to identify the basic service standards they must meet when working in licensed premises. The Customer and Drinks Service unit is designed for bar staff, as an introduction to the skills they will need to work professionally in the bar.

Who should attend?

The Security Guard training allows an individual to work in the security industry as a standard security

guard. The SIA Security Guard license allows an individual to work in many premises; for example

shopping malls, retail, construction sites, residential sites, schools, hospitals, banks etc.

However Security Guard licence holders cannot work in regulated entertainment venues or in

premises that sell alcohol. For that you need to attend a Door Supervisor course.

The BIIAB Level 2 Award in Security Guarding qualification meets the criteria set by the Security Industry Authority (SIA) thus allowing successful candidates to apply for a (SIA) Security Guard licence.

Under the Private Security Industry Act 2001, all security guards must hold a licence to practise issued by the Security Industry Authority (SIA)

The Level 2 Award in Security Guarding is a nationally recognised qualification and is the industry standard

Successful completion of this course enables a Security Guard to meet one of the requirements to apply for their licence

Security guards perform many of the same tasks as Door Supervisors, with the main difference being that a security guard does not take the same "front of house" role that a Door Supervisor does. Nonetheless, the tasks of a security guard are equally important for ensuring that there is a peaceful, secure atmosphere wherever they are employed.

Level 2 Award Conflict Management (1 Day)

Course Overview

The award in conflict management helps staff, whose work involves the provision of services to the public, to avoid and manage conflict within their work environment. This award has been designed in conjunction with conflict management specialists in the licensed and retail sector. Incidents of workplace violence can range from the relatively minor problems of people causing nuisance in a premises, for example unacceptable levels of swearing, to serious incidents involving physical abuse and damage to property.

The award in Conflict Management is designed to enable candidates to understand:

The responsibilities of both employers and employees in relation to workplace violence under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.

What is meant by the terms 'risk' and 'hazard', and the causes of workplace violence. How to identify and reduce hazards through risk assessment to reduce the likelihood of

conflict arising. Why and how conflict situations can arise and how to avoid them. How to deal with conflict when it has arisen. Law in relation to self-defence victim support, the importance of reporting

and recording incidents of workplace violence


The examination consists of 25 multiple-choice questions, three of which are compulsory. To pass the examination, candidates must correctly answer the three compulsory questions in section one and 14 out of 22 in section two.


CCTV (PSS) Course (3 Days)

Physical Intervention Programme (1Day)

Course Overview

The physical intervention programme provides candidates with a wider range of non-violent options for dealing with the most common scenarios involving physical contact.

It does not offer a technique to cover every possible situation, but provides a solid foundation in terms of knowledge and skills to further reduce risk to customers and staff.

Who should attend?

The most significant area of need and opportunity lies with those personnel performing licensable security functions. However, the programme could also cover wider needs within licensed retail environments, for example, providing an option of lower level disengagement skills for those in non-security roles such as licensees and other frontline staff.

Course Contents

The programme comprises two modules:

Disengagement (defensive) skills. The module addresses how learners can protect themselves and others from assault and includes relevant aspects of law, medical implications and safe practice. Disengagement may be sufficient for some individuals in non-security functions.

Escort and Holding skills. This module addresses restrictive holds and focuses on teaching

safer skills for common holding activities such as during ejection. The focus is on standing holds and escorts but the programme raises awareness of the risk associated with restraint in different positions. Training in holding skills will incorporate disengagement.


Students are assessed on physical intervention skills throughout the course by instructor observation
