Thank you for helping us reach our April goal and also our three-month goal! You are surely making a difference in the hungry lives in our county! Please note our new item is canned meat—tuna, salmon, chicken, Spam, etc. Protein is
very essential to the diet and an expensive item for many people. Thank you for your generosity!
THANK YOU
Dear FB Congregation, We are most grateful for all the prayers, texts, visits, and thoughts during our father, husband, and grandfather’s illness and passing. We are so blessed with a most caring and loving church family. We cannot express our gratitude enough to you all for your support, to our wonderful pastor, Tim, and for the loving hands that prepared a delicious meal. With much sincerity, The Family of Richard Justice
GIFTS A monetary donation was given in memory of Juanita Simpson on Moth-er’s Day by Carole Ann Simpson for Welcome Table.

PASTOR’S COLUMN
I thank God, whom I serve, as my ancestors did, with a clear conscience, as night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers. Recalling your tears, I long to see you, so that I may be filled with joy. I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also. (2 Timothy 1:3-7, NIV)
It’s not often that we see women’s names mentioned in the Bible, or any other ancient document. So, for Paul to mention Timothy’s grandmother and mother – Lois and Eunice – is quite significant. Thus, I assume that these two women made quite an impression on Paul, when he met Timo-thy. Perhaps Paul saw something in Timothy that led him to take Timothy on as a mentee. Perhaps, Paul saw that Timothy had potential to be an heir-apparent to his ministry. Or, perhaps this is not quite accurate. Perhaps Paul did not take on Timo-thy based solely on his merits. Perhaps, Paul called Timothy to accompany him, learn from him and to send him out as a pastor for several congrega-tions based on what he knew about Lois and Eunice. Perhaps their faith led Paul to believe that Timothy had potential. We don’t know much about Timothy. However, it is interesting that Paul mentions no male role models in Timothy’s life. He mentions no father, brother or grandfather. Was Lois widowed? Was Eunice abandoned? Was Lois Timothy’s paternal grandmother, and Eunice, her daughter-in-law, setting up a scenario similar to Naomi and Ruth? In that story, Boaz mar-ries Ruth, having been impressed with her loving-loyalty to Naomi. He praised Ruth for leaving her home and her kin to return with Naomi to care for her, and eventually, provide an offspring for her deceased husband. Could Lois and Eunice’s story share similarities? Perhaps. Regardless, Paul knew Lois and Eunice were women with strong faith, and it impressed Paul. And, because of their example, Paul was persuaded that Timothy was gifted in faith. While the church has made strides to recognize the gifts of women, it seems that we still relegate women’s gifts to a second class. “Sisters will you join and help us? Moses sister aided him…” the clueless George Askins writes in a widely popular, however short-sighted hymn, “Brethren, We Have Met to Worship” in 1819. By the end of the 19th Century, women comprised of two-thirds of Southern Baptist Missionaries, of which one-third were single. And, in the early 20th Century, women led Southern Bap-tists to have the largest mission offering – the Lottie Moon Christmas Of-fering. Whether out in front, behind the scenes, or some of both, the faith of our mothers – that is, the faith of all women – is to be recognized, honored and celebrated. God has called and gifted both women and men to announce the good news of the kingdom of God, at home and abroad.
Grace and peace,
Tim

JOY GROUP On Thursday, May 30th the JOY Group will travel to Strawberry Hill for breakfast. We will need to arrive there by 9:00 AM so we will have time to eat and shop for strawberries. We will then travel on to Cowpens National
Battlefield. There we will have a movie on the historical events, tour the exhibits, and have a 1 hour tour with the ranger. As we don’t have bus transportation, everyone will be responsible for his/her own transportation. Please wear comfortable shoes because the trails are not paved. A sign up sheet for this event is located in the Welcome Center. If you intend to go, please sign up so we have the numbers for the breakfast and the tour. The tour requires 10 people to supply a ranger. If you have any questions, please call Linda Harris.

I’m satisfied with just a cottage below, a little silver and a little gold; But in that city where the ransomed will shine, I want a gold one that’s silver lined. I’ve got a mansion just over the hilltop, In that bright land where we’ll never grow old; And someday yonder we will never more wander But walk the streets that are purest gold. Anthem “To Worship God” arr. Keveren To worship God, the One who was, and is, and is to come, The One who made us and gave us His only Son. To sing His praise, we offer psalms and hymns and spiritual songs; For all the glory is Hs and His alone.
To worship God, with every breath of life we sacrifice, And in the living, forgiving as He has done. We lift our song, we join our hearts and lives to live as one. And in the singing we offer living songs.
His kingdom reigns, His name is higher than any other name— The one and only, Jesus. We bow before the throne of One so awesome, mighty, and powerful. We give the best of all, and at His feet we fall to worship God
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below. Praise Him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen… CCLI#1858884
