If that is true let me linger. For me Advent is about lingering and pondering those opportunities and embracing those moments and let the presence of God infuse with my soul. The Twelve Days of Christmas From the desk of...Youth Pastor Luke Some believe that The Twelve Days of Christmas was written in code. It had a hiddenmessage, and for a good reason. After you find out what the code means, you’ll never lis-ten to this favorite Christmas song in the same way again…The Twelve Days of Christmas was created in England during a time of religiouspersecution when Catholicism was outlawed in the 16th to 18th centuries. The song,“The Twelve Days of Christmas,” was written as a kind of secret catechism that could besung in public without fear of arrest – a learning or memory aid to Christians in fact. Eachverse refers to a teaching of church doctrine — with the partridge being Christ who diedon a tree and the “True Love” being God the Father, who gave us all gifts. The twelve daysof Christmas are the twelve days between Christmas Day, Dec. 25th, the birth of Jesus, andthe Epiphany, Jan. 6th, the day Christians celebrate the arrival of the Magi (Wise Men)and the revelation of Christ as the light of the world. Each element in the song is a code word for religious truth:1. The partridge in a pear tree is Jesus2. The two turtle doves are the Old and New Testaments3. Three French hens stand for Faith, Hope and Love4. The four calling birds are the four Gospels5. The five gold rings recall the Hebrew Torah (Law) or the Pentateuch, the first five

books of the Old Testament6. The six geese a laying stand for the six days of creation7. The seven swans a -swimming represent the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit.8. The eight maids a -milking are the eight Beatitudes9. Nine ladies dancing are the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit10. The ten lords a -leaping are the ten commandments11. Eleven pipers piping represent the eleven faithful Apostles12. Twelve drummers drumming symbolize the twelve points of doctrine in the Apostles Creed.

This article comes from the website: http://todays1019.radio.com/2011/12/14/the-hidden-meaning-of-the-twelve-days-of-christmas/

In September, the youth group started our first RightNowMedia series called “Decisions”. It was a provocative andchallenging 4-week video series that helps students understand theimportance of making wise decisions for the Lord. Each seriesincludes humor, real-life testimonies, and biblical teaching. I enjoyengaging my youth group by asking them questions and allowingthem to think critically about the biblical concepts that are spokenabout that week. Last week, we finished our next series called “JesusChanges Everything”. This was another great series that challengedstudents to have a fresh perspective on their faith and mission. Thenext series we are starting is called “Control”. I am also excited togive students the opportunity to restore themselves and refocus onJesus at the upcoming youth retreat in Dixon, IL this comingJan 5-7. We will be accepting donations for cookies on Dec. 10,in the Fellowship Hall.

MERRY CHRISTMAS
