Watching and waiting are not “moving forward” attitudes. However, the church is watching and waiting till Jesus comes, but it is also to be about the business of the Kingdom (Luke 9:13). In this manner, watching and waiting means investing in the lives of others and seeing the Lord do things that remain unexplainable. Our church is in that mode. We are getting ready for a new pastor to come, but we are seeing the Lord do some things only He can do. That is so exciting. I hope you felt that excitement this past Sunday. We met Bubba Sawyer and heard his testimony - we vote this Sunday to call him as our Associate Pastor and Minister to Senior Adults. Filling Je ’s vacancy is not an easy task. However, it is a place that needs leadership. The Senior Adult Team has done a great job to keep up that ministry, but it is time to bring in a minister. You have met Bubba and Debbie and know of their past history with First Baptist. Pray for God’s direction in that matter and vote your understanding of God’s will this Sunday. Sunday was a special time as 11 people made decisions for Christ. As we watch and wait, may the Lord help us ll a needed position and see people answer the call of Christ. That night, we saw and experienced the drama of the book of Acts. I look back and thank God for this past Sunday. April 17th is an important calendar event for FBC. We will have one worship service at 9:00am and then hear from the Preschool/Children’s Building Team. They will present plans for the improvement of our Preschool and Children’s areas. Security and space are prime needs for our Children’s Ministry and we are at that place where needed changes are a must. Also, we will worship at the Bay that night. Worship at the Bay is heightened as we see God’s beauty around us. Come, bring your lawn chair, and eat a hot dog with us on the 17th. My sermons in the coming weeks will focus on stress fractures. We live in an age of so much tension. It has physical, emotional and spiritual repercussions. Stress doesn’t bring us together, it tears us apart. May God use His word to give us biblical splints for life’s pressures. Have a good week. May God bless each of you! Your Pastor, Jerry Philippians 4:6-7

Also, I joy in building relationships with individuals or communities that may open the door to share the gospel and/or o er timely a rmation and counsel. I desire to re ect the abundant life that Jesus promises in John 10:10.”This coming Sunday, April 10, the church family will vote on extending a call to A.B. Sawyer at each morning service. Have you ever had a moment where you knew you needed to step up? Maybe you always sat on the bench during the basketball game, and your coach nally called you in to play. Or maybe you got selected to take a really advanced course in school. Or took a really important and high paying summer job. No matter the situation, you knew that you had two choices: either step up to the opportunity or step back and miss it alto-gether. And while these challenges aren’t just limited to high school, we do have the chance to start becoming a step up kind of person right now. This was exactly where a man named Joshua found himself in the Old Testament. Joshua was just a normal guy facing some really challenging circumstances. Through his story, we can learn to step up and reach the potential God has for us the process.
