People and Community
There violence between first nations and early settlers
There was not violence between the first nations and the early settlers because the first nations and the early settlers were cooperative at first.Then they started violence when the early settlers started to take over the land.
Jobs Some jobs in the 1800’s is teaching,trading,harvesting and running a store.To get there they walked,rode horses,horses and buggies,trains and boats.
They cooperateThe settlers started to cooperate with the first nations people when they came,but they brung the diseases like smallpox from europe and killed most of the first nations. The settlers also wanted more animal fur but that would be killing most of the animals and the first nations didn’t want to.They didn’t cooperate when the early settlers brought the diseases.
1800’sThere was pioneers in the 1800’s because they came in the 1600’s and stayed here for a long time.They stayed here for a long time because they had to settle,get stuff to make their shelter and get stuff to survive.
Buildings in the communityThe buildings took 1 year for the most because they needed lots of things to make it with and if they had lots of family members they would have to make a big house.
CitiesThere were up to 9 cities in the 1800’s.
TravelingTo travel people used covered wagons,horses and buggies,walking trains and on boats.They would travel on boats if they lived near water or they would ride a train if they lived near a train track.
White people and black peopleThe black people and white people realized they were equal when Jim Crow yelled there is no such thing as a race.The event that made them realize they were equal was a relay race.
GovernmentsThe governments did not work together because they thought they can do it alone.Instead of working together they did war.
SmallpoxSmallpox was a bad disease that killed about 2 million people a year and the europeans brought it from europe when they came to the land.It was contagous and gave people fevers,aching back and bones and rashes.
Learn about the landThe first nations did help the early settlers learn about the land.They helped them learn how to sap trees,make clothing,learn lacrosse,canoeing,making medicine, planting corn and how to use snowshoes.
TechnologyThe settlers did not share their technology because they didn't like the First Nations people.
Working togetherThey worked together by agreeing on things and doing the same stuff,such as doing the same job or the same living at first.Then they didn’t work together anymore because the settlers started to take over the land.
ConflictsConflicts that happened was when the settlers and First Nations were fighting over the land.Some things they did was war,fighting,yelling and arguing.
