GOOD EVENING/GOOD MORNING! Welcome to Saint Michael Poplar Springs for Public Mass as we celebrate the first Sunday of Advent. 10:30 – A special welcome to those who are joining us from home. There is a worship aid for each Sunday 10:30 Mass which you can locate at the parish web-site, via My Parish App, and the link is also on our Facebook page. Would you be interested in making a short video showing you or your family lighting the candles of the Advent wreath? We would love to include your video in the live stream just before the 10:30 Mass. This would mean you would have to “stage” this lighting of the candles for the video so that we would be able to use it for the appropriate Sunday. In other words, if you would light your first two Advent wreath candles sometime this week while recording the family doing so, send it to the address published in the bulletin or on the website, and we will include it before Mass next weekend. Next Sunday you can relight the candles during your own home celebration. (In future weeks the Advent wreath will be lit at this time…) Entrance Song “In God’s Time” M. D. GOOD EVENING/GOOD MORNING!

Welcome to Saint Michael Poplar Springs for Public Mass as we celebrate

the first Sunday of Advent.

10:30 –

A special welcome to those who are joining us from home.

There is a worship aid for each Sunday 10:30 Mass which you

can locate at the parish web-site, via My Parish App, and the

link is also on our Facebook page.

Would you be interested in making a short video showing you or your

family lighting the candles of the Advent wreath? We would love to

include your video in the live stream just before the 10:30 Mass. This

would mean you would have to “stage” this lighting of the candles for

the video so that we would be able to use it for the appropriate Sunday.

In other words, if you would light your first two Advent wreath candles

sometime this week while recording the family doing so, send it to the

address published in the bulletin or on the website, and we will include

it before Mass next weekend. Next Sunday you can relight the candles

during your own home celebration.

(In future weeks the Advent wreath will be lit at this time…)

Penitential Act (Confiteor)

I confess to almighty God and to you,

my brothers and sisters,

that I have greatly sinned,

in my thoughts and in my words,

in what I have done and in what I have failed

to do,

And, striking their breast, they say:

through my fault, through my fault,

through my most grievous fault;

Then they continue:

therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin,

all the Angels and Saints,

and you, my brothers and sisters,

to pray for me to the Lord our God.

Lord, have mercy. All: Lord, have mercy.

Christ, have mercy. All: Christ, have mercy.

Lord, have mercy. All: Lord, have mercy.

LITURGY OF THE WORD The First Reading, Second Reading and Gospel will all be

Gospel Mark 13: 33 - 37

Homily

Creed

I believe in one God,

the Father almighty,

maker of heaven and earth,

of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,

the Only Begotten Son of God,

born of the Father before all ages.

God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,

begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;

through him all things were made.

For us men and for our salvation

he came down from heaven,

and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary,

and became man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,

he suffered death and was buried,

and rose again on the third day

in accordance with the Scriptures.

He ascended into heaven

and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again in glory

to judge the living and the dead

and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,

who proceeds from the Father and the Son,

who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,

who has spoken through the prophets.

Page 4: First Sunday of Advent 2020 - stmichaelpoplarsprings.org

I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.

I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins

and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead

and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Universal Prayer Please respond, “Come, Lord Jesus.”

The closing of the Universal Prayer is the Blessing of the Advent

Wreath. As the first candle is lighted, we will sing the refrain of,

“Christ, Circle Round Us.”
