From our Pastor... Parish Family – no Pastor likes to talk about money – trust me, it’s something we all consider as one of the hardest parts of being a Pastor – it’s not something that they teach us how to address in seminary, but talk about it we must. Thank you to all of you who have been faithful

to our parish in every way – sharing your talents, helping us out financially – even when you weren’t able to come to Mass, you continued to give! As you heard earlier this month, we are not having our Night of Entertainment this year! That revenue goes directly into our op-erating budget, which includes heating, water, and other neces-sary supplies for our parishioners, students and staff. We need and rely on that revenue. I am asking everyone here to prayerfully consider increasing your weekly offering, even by $1.00 a week. For those that typi-cally don’t think they can afford to give to the church – I would particularly ask you to prayerfully consider giving. You can start with a little each week. I’m not asking for big sacrifices. Every-thing we have is a gift from God and He will not be outdone in generosity. Can you trust God? God IS faithful. Our parish has been here 143 years – throughout that time, the parish has experienced hunger, pandemics, the Great Depression, wars, 9-11, but throughout all these hardships our parishioners did not waiver – we pulled together! Let’s continue to “pull to-gether” to build up our parish and each other – with our gifts of time, talent and treasure!

Blessings!

ADORERS NEEDED We are in desperate need of ador-ers so that Jesus is not left unat-tended. Our parish has had Per-petual Adoration since 1961. We need to continue our beautiful tradition. Covid-19 has made our adorers fearful and many are mak-ing the choice not to come to at-tend Jesus. The Scotus chapel is safe, clean and you are easily able to social distance as there are very few or limited attendance. Please

consider taking an hour to be with Jesus. If you cannot take an hour would you consider being a substitute adorer? We promise it will change your life and bring you closer to Our Lord. If you want to visit Jesus, He is always in the church (doors are un-locked between 6:00am - 7:00pm) but only exposed perpetually in the Scotus Chapel.

ADVIENTO Por: Padre Jairo Congote

LEAVING A LASTING LEGACY

You can leave a gift to our parish by naming us in your will as the recipient of the residuary after all your family and friends have been taken care of. For questions Tony LaMar, Legacy Planning Officer, Archdiocese of Omaha at 402-557-5650 or [email protected].

OPLATKI (CHRISTMAS WAFERS)

Oplatki are enjoyed by families, typi-cally right before the Christmas Eve meal. The entire family will gather around the table. Generally the eldest member of the family will begin the ritual by breaking off a piece of the wafer and passing it to anoth-er family member with a blessing. This blessing can simply con-sist of what you desire for your loved one in the upcoming year – whether it be good health, success, or happiness. The purpose of this act is primarily to express ones unconditional love and for-giveness for each member of his or her family. Oplatki (Christmas Wafers) are available for purchase at St. Anthony's Church Office. $2 per pack while supplies last.
