Conference Secretariat
I am pleased to announce the fourth international conference (in the 13th year of our
Academics) from The Heart Care Clinic, the 3-C Con 2008 from 11th to 13th January
2008, to be held in Ahmedabad. We began conference program originally in 1995 with just
under 50 delegates, with number of delegates reaching 100-200's in early 2000, followed
by the JIC – 2005 in 2004 – 2005. The theme was 'Bench to Bedside' in Gandhiji's Gujarat.
The idea was to create an interaction between scientists and clinicians. Then we changed
our name to 3 C-CON, with close to 1000+ delegates this year.
Three conferences later we have received a tremendous positive feedback from
clinicians about clinical sciences. The Clinicians appreciated basic sciences, but the
demand was for more applied sciences. So the theme for the 3-C Con 2008 will be 'Bedside
to Bedside' to emphasise that the next conference will focus more on clinical cardiology,
diabetes and metabolic syndrome.
‘You must be the change you want to see in the world.’
- Mahatma Gandhi We have to change if we want to see change in the world! And we have seen
tremendous change in the medical world in the last many decades. One needs to be slow
to form convictions, but once formed they must be defended against the heaviest odds.
Our conviction has been and will be to educate ourselves and our colleagues continuously.
This decade the primary cause of mortality and morbidity in India has shifted from
infectious diseases to cardiovascular and diabetic diseases. The 3-C Con 2008 will focus on
the changing role of the physician in the coming decade.
‘If you think you know it all, you are less likely to learn more.’The changing epidemiological trend has ensured that no physician will trust that he
knows it all and all of us will keep on gaining new knowledge as and when it develops.
Mahatma Gandhi supported this by saying: “True knowledge gives a moral standing and
moral strength”.
And moral standing and moral courage are our best assets in our goal of ethical
medical practice.
Please keep your dates booked from 11th to 13th January 2008.
- Dr. Keyur Parikh
