Once upon a time...

1493 – 1932Tradition features large in the family business, and the Alpenblick has been part of our history for decades. However, it shares centuries of history with the district of Zell. The first mention of an inn, shop and farm on the site was recorded in 1493. The gatehouse changed hands twice before 1556 when it went to Martin Kemeter, a carpenter from Zell. The name Tischlerhäusl (the carpenter’s house) appears to stem from that time, and stuck until the 20th century. The house wasn’t just an inn – it also served as a bowling alley and shooting range. After construction of a chapel with a well, it was even used as a place of healing: the water in the well was rumoured to cure eye complaints. 1898 saw the opening of the Pinzgau railway and Tischlerhäusl train station. The station featured in all international train timetables, which put Tischlerhäusl firmly on the map. In 1928, a fire devastated the inn, necessitating complete reconstruction. The opening of the Schmittenbahn in the same year was another key milestone in both Zell’s and the Alpenblick’s history. This coincided with the establishment of winter tourism, which still plays an absolutely fundamental part in the life of Zell and the Alpenblick. This year it reaches new heights with the SKI ALPIN CARD.

1932 – 1992The histories of the Alpenblick and the Segl family finally converged in 1932, when Charlotte and Rudolf Lechner rented and – three years later – bought the Alpenblick. My in-laws, Karoline and Georg Segl, eventually took over and developed the business. Their son, my husband Andreas, was involved in the family business from a young age, and helped shape it into the modern hotel it is today. Following his untimely death in 1984, I took over the hotel’s management.

1992 to presentIn 1992, we extended our restaurant and created the hotel’s spacious spa area, which was refurbished in 2006. Christine and

Georg’s wedding in May 2010 marked the beginning of the next generation in the family business.The story continues!

NEW at the Alpenblick: The arrival and departure area, hotel entrance, lobby, reception and all public areas have been entirely remodelled. The acquisition of additional land allowed us to build a major ground-floor extension as well as a garden with a terrace and dining areas. A high-tech gym on the first floor offers panoramic views and complements the existing facilities. The dedicated treatment area for anti-ageing concepts and sports regeneration treatments promises long-lasting treatment results.

By focusing on the quality of every last detail, we are ensuring that our 4-star superior hotel remains the best value for our guests.

This is why, as part of our refurbishment, we have also redesigned our team concept: Segl means ‘sail’ in German, so the Segl Crew is setting sail into the future, working together to bring you an even better, more refreshing holiday experience! Georg Segl: We are very pleased that, starting this summer, we and our core staff will be welcoming you to a brand-new infrastructure – from the new lobby and generous vehicle access to our reception area and the new lounge. The following pages aim to inspire you with

a preview of summer 2020 at the new Alpenblick.Christine Segl: We have also created new offers and packages based on the new facilities, with a central focus on sport and fitness. Combined with a sophisticated regeneration package and our new fitkitchen concept, this will allow us to offer a unique, head-to-toe wellfit holiday. Our new Love Your Look concept and brilliant family holidays meet all the requirements of discerning guests, and recognise what will be most important in the future: your health, your needs and your wellbeing – yours and that of your family.Georg Segl: Sustainability has been a key factor in our renovation works: as well as preserving our traditions, we aim to go easy on resources, so new areas were integrated into the existing fabric with great care and consideration.

We are also thinking sustainably in terms of cuisine, with a focus on health and the sheer enjoyment of food. We work with local producers, suppliers, farmers and direct sellers to guarantee freshness, quality, regionality and low food miles.
