1.0 INTRODUCTION

At the request of Dominion Doors & Windows Ltd., Exova was retained to evaluate the physical performance of a fixed window identified as “3000 Series Low Profile Fixed – 3-1/4" Frame”, in accordance with AAMA/WDMA/CSA 101/I.S.2/A440-08 Standard, “NAFS – North American Fenestration Standard/Specification for windows, doors, and skylights” and CSA A440S1-09 Canadian Supplement, as outlined in proposal number 17-006-521203.

Tests results reported herein qualify similar frame window profiles including glass stop profiles for double and triple glazed units, verified by Vision Extrusions’ consultant. See die drawings in Appendix A.

2.0 SAMPLE DESCRIPTION

The following sample description has verified by Exova. Details and drawings of the described test specimen, as provided by the manufacturer, have been included in Appendix A. Product Type: Fixed Window

Frame: Extruded PVC, 1500 mm x 1500 mm x 83 mm (59.06" x 59.06" x 3.25") Joinery:

Frame: Welded, Mitred corners. Installation:

Test buck: Wood Buck Fasteners: Frame perimeter fastened with nine #8 x 1" pan head screws, four screws per

side, 425 mm (16.73") c/c, one at the head, mid-span. Sealant: Interior and exterior frame perimeter sealed with flexible sealant.

Glazing Type: One, dual glazed, annealed, overall thickness 22.2 mm (0.86"), glass thickness

4 mm (0.16"), gap thickness 15.9 mm (0.63"), aluminum spacer, dual sealed, air filled, clear.

Glazing Method: Laid in glazed, dry glazed.

Glazing Stop: Extruded PVC, interior perimeter. Co-extruded Fin: Flexible PVC, 2 rows, interior perimeter, at glazing stop.

Flexible PVC, 1 row, dual-fin, exterior perimeter, at glazing upstanding leg. Setting Block: Foam/Rubber, six, 38.1 mm x 19.1 mm x 4.8 mm (1-1/2" x 3/4" x 3/16"), two at

the sill, 50 mm (1.97") from the ends, two per side, 80 mm (3.15") from the ends. Partial Heel Bead: Flexible sealant, sill/jamb, 203 mm (8.00") long, glazing cavity, glass stops. Cap Bead: Flexible sealant, sill/jamb, 203 mm (8.00") long, glass stops at fins. Corner Bead: Flexible sealant, exterior glazing corners.

Drainage/Ventilation: Frame:

Drain Slot: Two, 15.7 mm x 2.7 mm (0.62" x 0.11"), bottom glazing cavity, 80 mm (3.15") from the ends. Two, 12.8 mm x 2.7 mm (0.50" x 0.11"), bottom rail, 55 mm (2.17") from the ends, exterior face.

4.0 MODIFICATIONS

The following modification was made to the Dominion Doors & Windows Ltd., Fixed Window “3000 Series Low Profile Fixed – 3-1/4" Frame”, Exova Specimen No.: 17-06-M0260-1, during testing to achieve the results stated in this report.

• Water Penetration Test: - Partial heel bead of flexible sealant was applied at the sill/jamb corners, 203 mm (8.00") in the

glazing cavity beneath the glass stops. - Cap bead of flexible sealant was applied at the sill/jamb corners, 203 mm (8.00") at the glass stop

fins.


5.0 CONCLUSIONS

Based on the results of the testing summarized in Tables 1, Dominion Doors & Windows Ltd., fixed window “3000 Series Low Profile Fixed – 3-1/4" Frame,” Exova Specimen No.: 17-06-M0260-1 met the following requirements as outlined in the AAMA/WDMA/CSA 101/I.S.2/A440-08 standard and CSA A440S1-09 Canadian Supplement. Tests results reported herein qualify similar frame window profiles including glass stop profiles for double and triple glazed units, verified by Vision Extrusions’ consultant.
