What I love about both of these projects is how they have brought together Chizuk Amuno members from throughout the greater synagogue community. Like all large institutions, our congregation is composed of various special interest groups. There are those who see the Sisterhood or the Brotherhood as their special connection to this place. And there are those whose primary interest is in the Stulman Center for Adult Learning, or one of the many volunteer opportunities offered by our Gemilut Hasadim program. Then, of course, there are those who see themselves as primarily drawn by our religious services, or the Club Hatikvah dinners, or Young Family activities. Add to that our school families, and you can appreciate how diverse a community we are. So, the congregation has called upon me to assume the role of Director of Congregational Life, and together with a new committee, the Congregational Life Committee, to begin to see how best to bring together the silos of individual activities, in order to strengthen the special groups themselves, as well as to strengthen the congregation as a whole. I am delighted to be working with Bob Hallock and Allison Baumwald, who are co-chairing this committee.
