Passive Optical LAN offers tremendous benefits compared to classic copper LAN, but otherwise requires staff education and training in Enterprise environments. The FL-108 Switch is unique in the marketplace, providing a familiar CLI interface with virtual switch management, hiding the complexity usually associated with POL. Wihtout the need for training, limited IT human resources can save time by streamlining network operations, so can focus on their cloud strategy and digital transformation activities. FiberLAN offerings from DZS are known for their superior connection experience in a variety of environments including education, healthcare, hospitality, and stadiums among many others. The new DZS FL-108 Series FiberLAN switch hardware and its SDN-enabled software with Intent Based Networking were designed from the ground up to be network IT friendly for easier and faster adoption. For 21 st Century Networks The economics of fiber have changed, where single-mode fiber is lower cost than Copper per linear foot. Any new construction or building retrofit project can also benefit from the dramatic reduction in physical weight, floorspace, and power, reducing construction costs and maximizing the utilization of physical resources. FiberLAN is also more secure and reliable than traditional LAN, as it is virtually impossible to physically intrude without detection, has 128bit encryption, and has no electromagnetic interference. The technology is viable for decades compared to years, leveraging the fiber deployment for speed upgrades, without the need for routine upgrades. For future demands driven by Smart Buildings, IoT, and high-resolution video, XGS-PON (10Gbps) and NGPON2 (40Gbps) are near-term roadmap milestones.
