    B asic man-to-man defense: 1 r u sher, 7 defenders man-to-man. This is for shortyardage or for goal-line plays onlyRu sher: be aggressive; force QB to the left if right-handed; GE T THE QB!!!! C over theQB once ball is gone. This defense is as smothering as the press u re yo u create

    CB s /LB s /S : play tight man-to-man as they probably only need a few yards (especiallygoalline); cornerbacks u se an inside shade techniq u e and u se the sideline as an extradefender; the inside LB s and the safety have the center and blocking backs man-toman.E veryone be caref u l abo u t crossing ro u tes and pick playsif there are two g u y or twogirl receivers on one side, the defenders can talk abo u t switching whom they defendif the receivers do cross.
