What’s the object of the game?

Quick Answer…-To score more points

than the other team before the play clock runs out of time.

Rules and Regulations

Offense..1. Can score through a TD

1. This occurs when a team crosses the goal line before being downed.

2. Has four chances (downs) to get a new set of downs or score1. If not attained other

team gets the ball (turnover).

2. Midfield is the only chance you have to get a new set of downs.

3. Cannot extend arms to push off defender.1. Blockers may get in

the way of the defense but MUST NOT cause contact.

Rules and Regulations

Defense…1. Can pull the flags from the offensive

players.1. When this is done the ball is dead

and the ball is spotted where the flag was pulled.

2. Is never allowed to tackle, this will result in a 10 yard penalty or be removed from the game.

3. Cannot push or shove another player

2. Can catch the ball in the air from the opposing offense (interception).1. May then run the ball back to score2. If the ball drops it is a dead ball

and the next down starts.3. May only rush the Quarterback if they count aloud “3 one thousands”.

QuarterbackCalls “hike, hut, or set-go” when they are ready for the play to start.

Needs to hand the ball off and pass the ball depending on the play called.

Needs to know where everyone is going during the play.

ReceiversCannot begin their pass pattern until the ball is hiked.

Will execute a route that is known by them and the Quarterback.

Will make adjustments as needed.

Block for the running back in the open field.

Running BacksGet the ball on a handoff from the Quarterback.

Usually have good speed and can find holes to run through.

Can use moves and ‘jukes’ to avoid would-be tacklers .

May not jump, spin, stiff arm, or flag guard.

Catch the ball on pass patterns.

Offensive Strategies

1. Misdirection - making a defense think a play is going one way, when it is actually going the other.

2. Play action - is a fake handoff designed to make the defense think the play is a run. The fake run helps the receivers be more open.

3. Use the run to set up the pass.

4. Use the pass to set up the run.

Defensive Strategies

1. Zone Defense - Guarding a specific area. If receivers enter your "zone" or area, you are responsible for them as long as they are in your zone.

2. Your zone defense can flip sides of the field after the offense comes out of their huddle.

3. Defense is only as good as your flag pulling. Be aggressive and try to pull flags every play.

4. Your team needs to have good communication and team work.
