1.0 Description

Flexcoat W500 is a high performance elastomeric, single component, moisture curing acrylic copolymer

meeting low VOC requirement as specified by law of HKSAR regards The Air Pollution Control

(Volatile Organic Compounds) Regulation, Flexcoat W500 is supplied in the form of a ready-to-use

paste for the waterproofing of both horizontal and vertical surfaces. Once dry, it becomes a flexible film

with excellent UV resistance and weatherability. Because of its excellent UV resistance property,

Flexcoat W500 is an ideal material for totally exposed roofing and external wall facade system, i.e.

Flexcoat W500 serves as finishing coat and not to be covered by onward C/S screed or tiles etc. It is not

recommended to apply Flexcoat W500 as inverted roofing system or covered by other materials. While

Flexcoat Sandwich System W500 is a fire retarding membrane meeting with BS476 pt7, it also an ideal

sound and thermal insulation layer to building structure or flashing system. It is paintable by acrylic

painting system to provide excellent decorative effect. 2.0 Technical Data

3.0 Typical Application

Flexcoat W500 is a single component product curing by absorbing air moisture to form flexible film.

After completing its curing process, it becomes an high performance coating for waterproofing new or

old roofs, corrugated roof, Terraces, precasting joints, chimney stacks gutter, facade, cracks expansion

joint, etc. Flexcoat W500 can be applied onto most types of substrate: asphalt, concrete, roofing felt,

asbestos, iron sheeting, slate, clay tiles, gutters etc.

4.0 Application Details

4.1 Horizontal Surface (Flat roof, tiled pitch roof, corrugated sheet roof, terrace roof,

gutter, expansion join, etc)

4.11 Surface Preparation I. All surface should be sound, clean, dry, free of dust, oil, grease or other contamination.

Loose matter should be removed by abrasion, compressed air or high pressure water.

II. Concrete Surface should be either light steel towel finished or being made flat by a

layer of cement/sand screed Sufficient time for curing of C/S should be given before

laying Flexcoat W500)

III. All shrinkage and inactive/ non- structural cracks under 1.6mm (1/16-inch) should be

pretreated with one coat of Flexcoat W500.

IV. All right angle joints between parapet wall and slabs should be treated with

cementitious fillet.

V. For chalky substrate or those area where required improvement for better adhesion with

Flexcoat W500, one coat of Sealcoat W501 could be applied as primer coat and allow

at least 45 min for cure before application of “Flexcoat W500” System.

4.12 Laying of Waterproofing System I. 2 coats of “Flexcoat W500” + one layer of “MP Mesh A900” in between coat with film

thickness of not less than 1mm.

II. It can be applied by roller, brush or towel.

4.2 Vertical surface (façade, external wall, parapet etc.)

4.21 Surface preparation: I. Following the step I, II, III as specified in above 4.11

II. Any active cracks must be bridged with 25mm wide “reinforcing strip” comprised by

two coats “Flexcoat W500” and one layer “MP Mesh A900” in between coats.

III. Apply one coat “Sealcoat W501” as primer coat to all substrate and allow at least 45

mins for curing before application of onward Flexcoat W500 System.

4.22 Laying of Waterproofing System

I. Apply 2 coats “Flexcoat W500” with total thickness of not less than 0.4 mm.

II. It can be applied by roller, brush, etc.

III. It can be applied by using special roller to obtain a texture appearance.

IV. It can be covered by other acrylic paints. Please consult technical department of Master

Proofer for suitable choice of paint.

5.0 Material Coverage Horizontal surface (2 coats + 1 layer MP mesh): approx. 2.0kg/m2

Vertical surface (2 coats not less than 0.4mm): approx. 0.8kg/m2

Actual consumption may be varying from surface conditions.

6.0 Health and Safety Flexcoat W500 is water-based material. It is non-toxin and no safety label.

9.0 Technical Advisory Notes

I. For liquid applied membrane, it may sometimes encounter problem of “Blisters” due to trapped air

on rough concrete or moisture vapour which are sometimes practically unavoidable. Provided that

the blister are in low scale and they are not punctured, it is unlikely to affect the overall performance

of the system.

II. Primer might be required to enhance the strength of the adhesion between Flexcoat W500 and

surface substrate, for example, bituminous surface, non-ferrous metal and exceptionally porous

substrate. Applicator should consult our technical office for necessary recommendation.

III. Flexcoat W500 is suitable for exposed roofing system only. In case of covered roofing system is

required, it is recommended to consider another products of Labond Range: Thanecoat W300 or

W302. Please refer to our product brochure or call our Marketing Office for details.

3.0 一般應用範圍

立康 W500 是以吸收空氣水份凝固，它形成的膠模具備良好伸縮性及防水效能。它適用於新或

舊天面、瓦磚面、亢鈑頂、結構縫邊位等。立康 W500可施工於瀝青、水泥、金屬、石綿片、石

材及石磚面等建築型材料上。

4.0 施工細節

4.1 平面位置 (平面天台、瓦磚面、亢鈑蓋面、露台、水槽、結構夾縫位等)

4.11 施工面處理

I. 施工面上的塵埃，油脂油及污漬必須清除。

II. 石屎面需平坦，如有需要先做一層英泥沙漿面將凹凸平整。

III. 施工面上低於 1-6mm 的非結構性裂痕先用一層立康W500處理。

IV. 所有直角型碰口式地腳位須用水泥沙填妥。

V. 遇施工面屬於疏鬆及「粉面」化，可先塗一層立康W501作底油以加強立

康 W500與石屎面的結合強度。

4.12 平面防水系統結構

I. 兩層立康W500加一層MP Mesh A900 不織布作中間夾層。

II. 可用油掃，油卷施工。

4.2 企身位置 (外牆，女兒牆等)

4.21 施工面處理

I. 依照 4.11 中的 I, II, III 步驟。

II. 其它活動型裂縫需塗兩層立康W500加一層MP Mesh A900 作為夾層。

III. 塗上一層立康W501作底油層並等待起碼 45分鐘後才作下一步施工。

4.22 企身面防水結構

I. 塗上兩層不少 0.4mm 厚度的立康 W500。

II. 可用油掃或油卷施工。

III. 如需要花紋外觀亦可用特殊油卷做花紋面。

IV. 可塗上其它類型的丙稀酸油漆作裝飾用。

5.0 用量指引

平面（2層 + 1層不織布）：－ 大概 2.0公斤 / m2

企身面 (2層不少於 0.4mm厚度)：－ 大概 0.8公斤 / m2

9.0 技術意見

凡是液態式塗膜，由於石屎內的水氣蒸發。在施工時會出現不同程度的「水泡」現象。只須要

出現「水泡」程度不大及它們未被刺穿，整體防水系統效能是不會被影響。

在某些施工面例如，非鐵金屬面、疏鬆石屎面等，應採用底油以加強黏合效果。

立康W500只適宜做一個「暴露式」（即防水層不蓋上水泥、瓦磚等）天面。如需將防水層蓋於

水泥瓦磚下，客戶可以應用另外一種聚胺脂（立康 W300 或 W302）防水塗膜，詳情參考有關

資料。
