DEFINITIONS OF CLASSES

In the following definitions, a Challenge Certificate includes any Show award that countstowards the title of Champion under the Rules of any governing body recognised by theKennel Club. Wins at Championship shows in breed classes where Challenge Certificates arenot on offer shall be counted as wins at Open Shows. In the case of a dog owned inpartnership and entered in Members' classes or competing for Members' Specials eachpartner must at the time of entry be a member of the Society. In estimating the number ofawards won, all wins up to and including the seventh day before the date of closing of postalentries shall be counted when entering for any class i.e. 18th July 2016. Wins in Varietyclasses do not count for entry in Breed classes but when entering in Variety classes, wins inboth Breed and Variety classes must be counted. A first prize does not include a Special Prizeof whatever value. A dog is not eligible for entry in Variety Classes unless also entered andsubsequently exhibited in a Breed class where such a class is provided for which it is eligible.Exemptions from this Regulation are:- From 1st January 2015, and for a period of two years theKennel Club Show Regulations which stipulate that dogs must be entered and exhibited in a breedclass before exhibiting in an Any Variety Class/Stakes Class have been suspended. (1) A puppy,unless a class for dogs under twelve months of age for which it is eligible is provided for thebreed.(2) A dog in Any Variety Veteran Class. (3) A dog which is withdrawn from exhibition inbreed classes as a result of the appointment of an emergency judge. (4) Exhibits bred by thescheduled breed Judge. If an exhibitor reports before the judging of a class or classes that adog has been entered which is ineligible, the exhibitor may choose one of the followingoptions:- (1) Withdrawal The dog may be withdrawn from competition subject to theconditions of Regulations 9(j) and 20. (2) Transfer a) If a dog is ineligible for a class or classesas regards its breed colour, sex, weight or height the Show Secretary shall transfer it to theequivalent class or classes for the correct breed, colour, sex, weight or height and, inthe eventof there being no equivalent class, Minor Puppy and Puppy excepted to the Open class for thecorrect colour, sex, weight or height. b) For an exhibit entered incorrectly in a Minor PuppyClass, Puppy Class or Junior Class, which is over age but under twelve calendar months of age,eighteen calendar months of age or twenty-four calendar months of age respectively, theShow Secretary shall transfer the exhibit to the Puppy Class, Junior Class or Yearling Classrespectively for the correct colour, sex, weight or height and in the event of there being noPuppy, Junior or Yearling Class to the Open class for the correct colour, sex, weight or height.c) For any reason other than the above, the Show Secretary shall transfer it to the Open classfor the correct colour, sex, weight or height. d) If an exhibit arrives late and misses a class,even if it is the only class in which the dog is entered, the dog may not be transferred to anyother class.MINOR PUPPY For dogs of six and not exceeding nine calendar months of age on the first day ofthe Show.PUPPY For dogs of six and not exceeding twelve calendar months of age on the first day of theShow.JUNIOR For dogs of six and not exceeding eighteen calendar months of age on the first day ofthe Show.GRADUATE For dogs which have not won a Challenge Certificate or four or more First Prizes atChampionship Shows in Graduate, Post Graduate, Minor Limit, Mid Limit, Limit and Openclasses,whether restricted or not where Challenge Certificates were offered for the breed. POST GRADUATE For dogs which have not won a Challenge Certificate or five or more First PrizesatChampionship Shows in Post Graduate, Minor Limit, Mid Limit, Limit and Open classes, whetherrestricted or not where Challenge Certificates were offered for the breed. LIMIT For dogs which have not become show Champions under the Kennel Club Regulations

or under the rules of any governing body recognised by the Kennel Club or won 7 or moreFirst Prizes in all at Championship Shows in Limit or Open Classes confined to the Breed,whether restricted or not at Shows where Challenge Certificates were offered for the breed.OPEN For all dogs of the breed for which the class is provided and eligible for entry at the Show.VETERAN For dogs of not less than seven years of age on the first day of the Show.RARE BREEDS Confined to those breeds not granted Challenge Certificates in the current year,with the exception of those breeds whose registration is confined to the Import Register.IMPORTED REGISTER For breeds confined to the Imported Breeds Register and only when anInterim Breed Standard has been published by The Kennel Club. Such breeds may beexhibited in this class only, and are ineligible for any other competition whatsoever.ANY VARIETY NOT SEPARATELY CLASSIFIED For breeds of dog for which NO separate breedclasses are scheduled.

RULES & REGULATIONS1. The Show will open at 9.00 a.m.2. Dogs will be received at any time but it is the exhibitors responsibility to ensure that exhibits

are available for judging when required. 3. Judging will commence at 10.00 a.m. Prompt4. Exhibits may be removed from the Show after their judging has been completed. The Show

will close half an hour after all judging has been completed.5. The use of cooking stoves in the proximity of the tenting and benching areas is forbidden

except as authorised by the Show Management. 6. Entry Fees: Members First Entry £4.50 per dog, Non-Members First Entry £5.00 per dog, all

subsequent entries £1.00 with the same dog. Not for Competition Dogs £2 per dog.Catalogues £3.00 prepaid only Membership Fees £5 Joint £3.50 Single

8. The Committee reserves to itself the right to refuse entries. 9. Puppies under six calendar months of age on the first day of the show are not eligible for

exhibition. 10. The mating of bitches within the precincts of the show is forbidden.11. Best Puppy in Show Where a Best Puppy in Show competition is scheduled the Best Puppy in

Show is a puppy which has competed and is unbeaten by any other puppy exhibited at thesame show. A puppy is a dog of six and not exceeding twelve calendar months of age on thefirst day of the Show. Where the Best of Breed, Best in Group or Best in Show is a puppy itshould automatically be awarded Best Puppy in Breed, Best Puppy in Group and Best Puppy inShow respectively. Similarly, if the Reserve Best of Breed, Reserve Best of Group or ReserveBest in Show is a puppy which has only been beaten by an adult dog it should alsoautomatically be Best Puppy in Breed, Best Puppy in Group and Best Puppy in Showrespectively. Consequently, selection of Best Puppy in Breed, Best Puppy in Group and BestPuppy in Show must follow the selection of Best of Breed, Best in Group and Best in Showrespectively.a. Show Judged on the Group System 1) Best Puppy in Group and subsequent Group placingsmust be selected from puppies which have been judged and which are unbeaten by any otherpuppy.2)Best Puppy in Show must be selected from the Best Puppy in Group winners provided they areunbeaten by any other puppy. b. Withdrawal from Competition Puppies which become eligiblefor Best Puppy in Group and Best Puppy in Show maybe withdrawn from all other competition,other than Breed Classes and Best Puppy in Breed, prior to the competition for Best Puppy inGroup and Best Puppy in Show in order to remain unbeaten. A puppy beaten in competition forBest Puppy in Group and Best Puppy in Show may subsequently be exhibited in all competition for

which it was previously eligible. The dog declared Best Puppy in Show, however, must notcompete in any subsequent competition. Puppies may be withdrawn from Any Variety (AV) Classeswhen judged before Breed Classes. c. Proviso For the purpose of this Regulation, dogs beaten incompetition for Stud Dog, Brood Bitch, Progeny, Brace and Team or a Special Award confined toone breed will not be considered to be a beaten dog.

12. Best in Show From 1st January 2015, and for a period of two years the Kennel Club ShowRegulations which stipulate that dogs must be entered and exhibited in a breed class beforeexhibiting in an Any Variety Class/Stakes Class and that only unbeaten dogs are eligible to competein the group or best in show competitions are suspended. The dog declared Best in Show is a dog which has competed and is unbeaten by any other dogexhibited at the same Show. a. Shows Judged on the Group System 1) Best of Breed Where a breed is separately classified aBest of Breed may be declared but only from those dogs which have received a first prize in abreed class at the show. Where separate classes are provided for each sex of a breed a Best ofeach Sex must be declared. 2) Best of Group From 1st January 2015, and for a period of two years the Kennel Club ShowRegulations which stipulate that dogs must be entered and exhibited in a breed class beforeexhibiting in an Any Variety Class/Stakes Class and that only unbeaten dogs are eligible tocompete in the group or best in show competitions are suspended.Best of group and subsequent placings must be selected from:- a) The Best of Breed winners ineach group provided that they are unbeaten winning dogs. b) The best unbeaten winning dogfrom the Any Variety Not Separately Classified classes in each group or on each day. 3) Best inShow From 1st January 2015, and for a period of two years the Kennel Club Show Regulations whichstipulate that dogs must be entered and exhibited in a breed class before exhibiting in an AnyVariety Class/Stakes Class and that only unbeaten dogs are eligible to compete in the group or bestin show competitions are suspended. Best in Show must be selected from the Best of Groupwinners provided they are unbeaten. Reserve Best in Show must be selected from the remainingGroup winners following the selection for Best in Show. b. Withdrawal from other CompetitionDogs which become eligible for Best of Group and Best in Show maybe withdrawn from all othercompetition other than breed classes and Best of Breed prior to the competition for Best of Groupor Best in Show as appropriate in order to remain unbeaten. A dog beaten in competition for Bestin Group or Best in Show may subsequently be exhibited in all competition for which it waspreviously eligible. The dogs declared Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show however, must notcompete in any subsequent competition. Dogs may be withdrawn from AV Classes when judgedbefore Breed Classes. c. Proviso For the purposes of this Regulation, dogs beaten in competition for Stud Dog, Brood Bitch,Progeny, Brace and Team or a Special Award confined to a single breed, will not be considered tobe beaten dogs.

13. Exhibits will not be admitted to Best in Show competition after a period of ten minutes has elapsedsince the announcement that exhibits are required for judging, unless they have been unavoidablydelayed by previous judging not being completed on time, and then only with the specialpermission of the Show Management.

14. Exhibitors must not pick up dogs by their tails and leads when lifting them. This is not acceptable.Exhibitors should note that such practice would constitute harsh handling and reports of suchpractice will be referred to the Committee under Kennel Club Show Regulation F11.

15. All exhibitors must be familiar with Kennel Club Regulation F (Annex B) Regulations for thePreparation of Dogs for exhibition.

17. Dogs in vehicles on Hot Days Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather and the

Kennel Club offers the following guidance to help guide you through the do’s and don’tstravelling to and whilst at KC licensed events.• When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route to the showis on a busy holiday route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in traffic jams.• If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whether travelling to the show is agood idea at all. • The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of stops should be taken,with lots of water available to drink.• Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowing airaround the dog.• When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle. • Keep the dog in the shade – take your own shade for example a large umbrella and alwayshave plenty of water available to drink so your dog stays well hydrated.• Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposed sunlight forextended lengths of time. Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated, and thiscould lead to dire results. Please look after your dog’s welfare.WARNING: IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND TO BE AT RISK FORCIBLE ENTRY TO YOUR VEHICLE MAY BENECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED.Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable stepsto ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dog’s health and welfare atrisk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. Breach of Kennel Club Regulations in thisrespect may be referred to the General Committee for disciplinary action under Kennel ClubRules and Regulations.Right to Refuse Entries. Exhibitors/Competitors are reminded that show societies have theright under Kennel Club Regulation to refuse any entry.

18. Not for Competition entries will be accepted. Details of each dog so entered must be recordedon the entry form and must be Kennel Club registered

19. No modifications will be made to this schedule except by permission of the GeneralCommittee of the Kennel Club, which will be followed by advertisement in the Canine Presswherever possible.

20. The Show will be held under Kennel Club Rules and Show Regulations. Every exhibitor makingan entry or entries at this show shall be deemed to have agreed to abide by these Rules andRegulations and it is on this understanding only that entries are received.

21. The Committee of this show cannot be held responsible for products advertised or sold bystandholders at the show, and remind exhibitors that such products may not meet therequirements of the Regulations for the Preparation of Dogs for Exhibition.

22. Exhibitors/handlers are responsible for clearing up and removing any loose hair or fouling fromdogs in their charge, or any other litter, whether from the car park, the exercise area or fromany other part of the venue.

23. Parents/Guardians please note, well behaved children are welcome but those in charge ofchildren will be held fully responsible for their actions and any damage caused within theenvirons of the show.

24. Owners, handlers, exhibitors or any other person in charge of a dog at a Kennel Club licencedevent must ensure at all times that the dog is kept under proper control whilst at the licencedvenue including its environs, car parks and approaches.

25. A dog may be disqualified by the General Committee from any award, whether an objectionhas been lodged or not, if proved amongst other things to have been registered or recorded ashaving been bred by the selected judge. This shall not apply to a judge appointed in anemergency.

26. Soft Crates: The Kennel Club has drawn attention to the potential health and safetyimplications concerning the use of soft crates at shows as in its view, they do not offer

sufficient protection to dogs. Soft crates left unattended at the ringside are a potential hazardparticularly when occupied by large breeds, and it has been known for dogs to becomedistressed and move soft crates along the floor and also escape. Soft crates should only beused when there is sufficient room available and when they can be safely secured.

27. Each exhibitor is responsible for providing their own crate or cage identification detailing thatexhibit number, this should be displayed at all times The original exhibit number as providedby the Show Society must not be used for this purpose.

REGULATIONS FOR THE PREPARATION OF DOGS FOR EXHIBITION F (B)1. These regulations must be observed when a dog is prepared for exhibition and/or exhibited

at any Kennel Club licensed event. Objections may be referred to the General Committeefor disciplinary action under these show regulations and/or for disciplinary action underKennel Club Rule A42.a) a dog found to have been exhibited in breach of these regulations will automatically bedisqualified from exhibition at the show and from any award gained there at.b) Unless the exhibitor provides a satisfactory explanation for the dog being exhibited inbreach of these regulations then he/she may be subject to further penalties of either a fineor as listed under Rule A42

2. (a) No substance which alters the natural colour, texture or body of the coat may be presentin the dog’s coat for any purpose at any time during the show. No substance which altersthe natural colour of any external part of the dog may be present on the dog for anypurpose at any time during the show.(b) Any other substance (other than water) which may be used in the preparation of a dogfor exhibition must not be allowed to remain in the coat or on any other part of the dog atthe time of exhibition.

3. No act or operation which alters the natural conformation of a dog or any part thereof maybe performed except (a) Operations certified to the satisfaction of the General Committee.(b) the removal of dew claws of any breed(c) Operations to prevent breeding provided that such operations are notified to the KennelClub before neutered dogs are shownNor must anything be done calculated to in the opinion of the General Committee todeceive.

4. The General Committee without previous notice may order an examination of any dog ordogs at any show. Any examination thus ordered will be made by a person having executiveauthority who shall have a written directive from the Kennel Club in their possession.Samples may be taken for further examination and analysis.

5. An individual has the right to lodge an objection to a dog only if he/she is the owner orhandler of a dog competing in the same breed or class. An objection may however, belodged by an official of the show or by anyone so deputed by the Kennel Club. It will be theresponsibility of the individual who lodges the objection or the official (as appropriate), tosubstantiate the grounds for the objection. The Kennel Club will substantiate the groundsfor an objection made on its behalf.

6. Any objection by an individual related to an infringement of these Regulations must bemade in writing to the Show Secretary at his/her office before the close of the show andthe individual must produce evidence of identity at the time of lodging the complaint.

Dog Fouling F8 (a) Any owner, exhibitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog is required to remove as soon as possible any fouling caused by their dog(s) at any Kennel Club licensed show within the licensed venue and within the environs of that event including the car and caravan parks and approaches. The Society will arrange for the dispersal of suitable receptacles to assist compliance with regulation F8(a).

Attraction of Exhibits F(1) 17fThe attracting of exhibits by any method from outside the ring is prohibited. It is the duty of the judge steward or show management noticing such attraction to ask that it ceases.

PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEO RIGHTS

The Organisers would like to bring the regulation on photography and filming to the attention of exhibitors, trade stands, press and visitors. It is a condition of all those attending the event that no filming or other form of recording may be taken or made at the venue without the express written permission of the organisers. The taking of photographs in the venue for sale or reward is strictly prohibited except with the written permission of the Organisers. Press accredited photographers are provided with permission to take photographs ONLY for use in newspapers, magazines and internet sites – this is for news purposes only. There is no objection to the general public taking photographs or video film of general views of the show, provided that these are for private use only. Specific dogs may be photographed only with the approval of the exhibitor. No photography or filming is permitted in breed judging rings whilst judging is actually taking place. However, judges may allow it to happen at the end of classes or after the Challenge Certificate is awarded. Filming and flash photography is allowed from outside the rings at all times unless the operation of the camera is actually affecting exhibits. However, if a powerful flash unit is used or it is clear that exhibits are being affected, a ring steward or the judge is empowered to stop the person concerned. Cinematograph or television equipment may only be used at the show if a permit has been issued by the Organisers.

From the East – M56, Wirral, ChesterJoin A55 at Ewloe towards Conwy. After 3 miles turn off signed B5126 Connah's Quay. At the end of the slip road turn left. After 400 yards at Northop Traffic Lights go straight on. The Welsh College of Horticulture is about 1 mile on the right hand side of the road. Turn hard right at the entrance and follow signs for the Equestrian Centre (if you miss thisturning from A55 take the next junction and follow the Flint directions).

From the South, Wrexham, Mold Take the A5119 towards Flint. After 2.5 miles turn left at the Northop traffic lights then follow instructions as above.

From FlintTake the A5119 towards Mold, After 2.5 miles cross over the A55 and 400 yards further on turn right at Northop Traffic Lights then follow instructions as above.
