Of course, we all know that a recipe is only as good as the chefs ability to put everything together in the end. Our teachers are not just any ordinary chef, they are the trailblazing kind of chef—the kind who invent recipes. Many of our recipescome from a cookbook. The great thing about cookbooks is that they are designed so that culinary novices—like myself—can accomplish one narrow task (prepare a recipe). Great Chefs, like our great teachers, can certainly use cookbooks too, but theyre not typically designed for the expert chefs which they are. And cookbooks are not designed to enable and empower novices to become experts, but rather to provide explicit instrucons for what to do in the kitchen. As the 2017-18 school year comes to an end, we want to thank all of the parents, caregivers and students for your wonderful nominaons making this a night to remember. To put it all together, you •Assemble all of the Caring, Knowledge, and Communication in a bowl. •Add some Respect and a Positive Attitude •Whisk all the items together in a bowl and add a little professional development, coaching, mentoring and Task Orientation until you have a smooth even mixture. •Finally, you spoon it out in 1/4 cup increments onto a cookie sheet, bake for 198 days, let it cool and, voila – we’re done! A Recipe for Success

19th Annual “Excellence in Action Awards”

Below is the recipe I shared at the 19th annual Excellence in Action Awards Ceremony which was held on April 30th, 2018 at TPepin Hospitality Centre, for individuals who have made a difference in the life of a student with special needs. Of course, we all know that a recipe is only as good as the chef’s ability to put everything together in the end. Our teachers are not just any ordinary chef, they are the trailblazing kind of chef—the kind who invent recipes. Many of our “recipes” come from a cookbook. The great thing about cookbooks is that they are designed so that culinary novices—like myself—can accomplish one narrow task (prepare a recipe). Great Chef’s, like our great teachers, can certainly use cookbooks too, but they’re not typically designed for the expert chefs which they are. And cookbooks are not designed to enable and empower novices to become experts, but rather to provide explicit instructions for what to do in the kitchen. As the 2017-18 school year comes to an end, we want to thank all of the parents, caregivers and students for your wonderful nominations making this a night to remember.

•Finally, you spoon it out in 1/4 cup increments onto a cookie

sheet, bake for 198 days, let it cool and, voila – we’re done!
