www.flowerbulbinnovations.com On our website you can view a 3 minute informative video showing you exactly how the planting machine works. There will be current pictures of the work that we have done along with additional information.

Working of the machine

The machine is a combination of planter and tractor, manned by one person. A large container holds the bulbs, with at the bottom two belts to deliver the bulbs to the ‘plant feet’. Two vertical rotating knives cut the turf open, just before the plant feet. The feet ‘dive’ into the ground and fold the turf open. At the same time the belts release the bulbs, which fall into the soil and get covered. The machine also puts the turf back in position with minimal damage (see photos).

WWith our special planting machine it is possible to establish mass plantings of flower bulbs under grass in verges, roundabouts, lawns etc. For many years we have used our machine for large plantings in Holland, the United Kingdom and other European locations like Belgium, Germany and Denmark. We can offer our planting service to all customers; a very cost-effective method to plant large quantities of flower bulbs in grass areas with a striking result. Many varieties of flower bulbs are suitable for machine planting. It is possible to choose early flowering varieties/mixtures for areas with an intensive mowing schedule. On the other hand a special mixture with an extended flowering time can be used in areas with a more natural, rough appearance and late mowing.

4 MECHANICAL PLANTING

Mechanical planting

Conditions For a good result of the mechanical planting it is important that the turf is in good condition; well rooted and firm. The grass must be cut short to achieve a maximum result with minimal damage. Also the soil should be free from roots, cables and rubble. It is therefore recommended to ask our specialists to inspect the plant location and look at the possibilities.

Plant capacity Under the right circumstances it is possible to plant 10.000 daffodils or 25.000 crocuses/miscellaneous per hour. To achieve the best result it is important to follow our instructions and most important: the number of bulbs per m.sq.

Many different mixtures can be used in combination with our planting machine. Please note that the mixtures, and the matching article numbers, are not stated on the order form. Prices and other relevant information can be obtained from your representative on request.

Combination of flowerbulbs and perennial plants

In public green areas flowerbulbs can perfectly be combined with perennial plants. By doing so a year round attractive result can be achieved. Apart from the visual aspect it is also a maintenance friendly combination. After flowering the foliage of the bulbs disappears in the perennial plants. Early flowering herbaceous plants make a good combination with early varieties like snowdrops, Crocus, Chionodoxa and botanical narcissi. Late flowering bulbs like allium and camassia are also perfect partners for June flowering perenni-al plants.

WWhy Plant Spring Bulbs?

www.flowerbulbinnovations.com

As a freelance writer and photographer specializing in gardening, I’ve come to realize that spring-flowering bulbs are the best and biggest investment you can make in the garden. After a long winter and on that magical morning when the first snowdrop or crocus pokes its little head above the ground and welcomes a new spring, the gardener’s spirits lifts immeasurably. Later on in the spring when the border is decked out in its full spring finery, with tulips, daffodils, grape hyacinths, windflowers and a host of other bulbs in enchanting perfectly-orches-trated colour combinations, our spirits soar.

Janet Davis, Freelance Garden Writer & Photographerwww.beautifulbotany.com

We love planting bulbs because they are the true harbin-ger of spring. The fresh colours of hardy snowdrops and daffodils, followed by the spring bouquet of early- mid- and late-flowering tulips bring joy to everyone who sees them. Bulbs fill in that ‘transition’ time between bare branches, the leaves coming out and flowering trees and shrubs showing their delightful colours. Bulbs give us hope, and in their own small way inspire us to look at nature with renewed optimism.

Sheila and Jim Belisle, Belisle/Murray Landscape Architects

Words of advice -However many bulbs you plant in the garden it is NEVERenough. Buy 100’s more than you need and they will begin to have an effect on the garden. Remember always plant en masse and include a selection of early, mid and late varieties to give you weeks and weeks of continuous blooms.

What other group of plants gives you so much colour and variety in the very early season of spring?

THE FLOWER BULB!!

Caroline de Vries, Landscape Architect

Incorporating masses of spring bulbs as a landscape architect is an important part of delivering a high quality landscape to our clients.Especially after a long dreary winter, broad drifts of bulbs kick off the ongoing sequence of magnificient garden experiences to come for our cherished patrons.
