Bramley Church of England PrimaryMass (Weight)The mass of an object is how much it weighs –measured in kilograms and grams.

Find a range of objects from around your house, e.g. big book, small book, tv remote, pencil case, shoe, mug, apple, potato, etc.

Which item weighs the most?Hold the items in your hand and choose the heaviest and the lightest.Weigh them both on a scale and record them in the table. Now you are going to estimate the weight of all of the other items. Think about:

Are they similar to the heaviest item or a lot less?

Are any items about the same?

Are any double the weight of the lightest item?

*Don’t just guess amounts – use the two weights you know to help you*

Now

accurately weigh them on the scale and record the mass in the grey boxes.Use your items to answer these questions:

1). How many of your items had a mass greater than 1kg?

In this task you need to choose someone who has inspired you! It may be a friend, a family member, someone famous, or even someone from the past! What you need to do: Download or draw a picture of the person, then write words and phrases around the outside explaining why they inspire you. Think about: their qualities, what they have done, what you like about them, how they make you feel etc. You may want to write a sentence explaining who they are too! I have done an example below to help you: I have chosen Rosie Jones as my inspiration. She is a female comedian with Cerebral Palsy, who I recently watched live at the Anvil.

Task 10: Information PagesYou are going to create a fact file, leaflet or poster all about 1 predator. Choose one of the predators we watched in the film clips (or another of your choice) to research Today is a research/ gathering ideas day:There is lots to think, research and write about, I have grouped the information you might want to talk about:

OR YOU COULD HAVE ANY OTHER PIECES OF INFORMATION YOU WANT TO!

At the top of each box / section, come up with a suitable subheading. Some could be questions, some could be statements.

Your ResearchKey Skills:

*write as NOTES, not full sentences

Where does it live? What is it like there? Is there a special reason it lives

there?

What does it eat? What special skills / techniques

does it have? What does it need / do in order

to survive?

Is it the prey of another predator?

How does it survive? Is it an endangered species? If

so, what can we do to protect it?

Could you draw a picture and label the different parts?

Do you know any interesting facts about it?

Have you ever seen one in real life?

Bramley Church of England Primary

You are going to create your own sorting key – you can use the template we have given you or draw your own on a piece of paper.

Firstly, choose 8 different Living Things and draw them in the top boxes.

Think about what question you ask to split them into two groups? The questions needs to have a yes or no answer.

(They might not split into 4 and 4, you may need to add a few boxes or cross some out.)

Make sure you use the new vocabulary learning from ‘Animal Vocabulary Help Page’.

Next, think about what question could you ask to split these living things into two more groups?

Keep drawing the items as you move down. Each time you need to look at the items and think; What separates these?

Keep asking questions until you have sorted them all into their own group.

Create your own sorting tree on the template or a piece of paper. You can do this straight onto Seesaw (and save it there) or on paper (then take a photo and upload it).
