Our Dementia Friendly performances are designed to create an enjoyable and supportive atmosphere for people with Dementia and their friends, families and companions. Theatre staff and students have received Dementia Friends Training and are on hand to help during your visit. Please see the next page for more details.

The Story .
From Castles to Caravans and Butlins at Bognor, Wish You Were Here… is a colourful, interactive trip to popular postcard holiday destinations around the UK.
Performed by the University of Derby second year Theatre Arts students, as a part of their Applied Theatre module, the show has songs (the lyrics for you to join in are at the back of this booklet) and interactive stories ending with a trip to the seaside complete with ice cream!

Your Show Experience.
There are wheel-chair spaces and the studio is accessible by lift from the theatre café.
We never have a full black-out in the auditorium.
As a theatre we decided to have an open door policy so that theatre goers could enter and leave whenever they needed to. We have extra trained staff on hand to support everyone’s needs.
Quiet Space
For anyone who needs to leave the show, we have a Quiet Space outside the auditorium next to the Studio, where refreshments will also be available, which can be used throughout the show. You can return to the show when you are ready and are welcome to leave and return when ever you like.
Dementia Friends:
All our staff and students in this production are Dementia Friends and have received training to ensure everyone has the best time here at Derby Theatre.If you are interested about this initiative supported by the Alzheimer’s Society please speak to a member of staff.

The Show .
The show is 45 minutes long. Ice Cream is included in your ticket and will be served at the end of the show.
After the Show .
While you are enjoying your ice cream the cast will chat to you and please feel free to have your photograph taken with them.
We hope you enjoy the show and please let us know what you thought of it by writing us a letter or post card with your experience on it!
