The annual Fly-In/Picnic is a little different this year. First, we are changing the day from a

Tuesday to a Saturday. Secondly, the location is changing from the Indy Executive Airport

to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Airport (KUMP). This years event is also being catered

with an expanded food selection so an exact head count will be

needed and reservations will be required.

We are coordinating our picnic with the arrival of the B-17 Yankee

Lady (weather permitting) so come and help the club host the crew

and schedule a flight with her for Tom Wood Aviation Community

Day on Sunday.

The Fly-In/Picnic is not just for members and we invite anyone to Fly in, Drive in, or Walk

in to this fun and tasty event.

Our August Meeting

Dinner prepared by: Dessert prepared by:

Third-Class Medical Reform a Reality

President Barack Obama on July 15 signed third class medical reforms into

law as part of an FAA authorization extension passed by the House and

Senate days earlier. The Indianapolis Aero Club along with most general

aviation related organizations have endorsed the push for medical reform

as a much needed change. Our own United State Representative from

Indiana, Todd Rokita (also a pilot and aircraft owner), has been instrumen-

tal in drafting this legislation and helping push it through the House and

Senate. The Indianapolis Aero Club has provided letters of support for this legislation to

Mr. Rokita and other key legislators. Representative Rokita has graciously accepted our

invitation to come and discuss this and other issues affecting general aviation. We are

working with his staff to procure a mutually acceptable date.

New Membership Recruitment Program

Program based upon an annual calendar year March through December.

Member receives (1) point for 'each' guest they bring to a monthly meeting or an Aero Club event.

Member receives (4) points when a guest joins the Aero Club.

Highest total point count at the December meeting will receive (10) FREE meeting buffets.

Second highest point count will receive (5) FREE meeting buffets.

Definitions:

A guest is defined as being only one person from a family unit.

A member volunteering at a Membership Recruitment event would sign their name to an applica-tion when talking to a prospect. If that prospect comes to a meeting, then the member would re-ceive (1) point, if they join, they receive an additional (4) points.

When the Aero Club has an additional event such as a bus trip, a member could invite a guest and receive points.

thing...a mobile app. So, for all you smart phone users out there

addition to our website. This mobile app will be available for

both Apple and Android devices and will be more than just a

number of robust functionalities that you can easily use to find

out what is happening within our club and with general aviation

around Indiana.
