Despite the new academic calendar in the Faculty of Economics we man-

these changes have been made: there were far too many Economics stu-dents involved in the associations and the extra activities. In this way, thanks to the fact that Eco-bachelor students have no time anymore, we rediscovered the

In the morning of the 4th of November a group of 40 students left from Bolzano at 6 am to join 24 other universities in Vallendar, close to Koblenz in Germany, for the annual WHU-Euromasters. Our university took part in competitions in volleyball, basketball, soccer female and male, and in this last category we won the second place. After a very tough semi-final, which lead to penalty shooting, the team from Bolzano played against the Zeppelin University (Germany) with the end result of 2-1 for the Germans. The cup will now be in the S.C.U.B. office for some weeks before being put together with all others gained in the previous years, in the kitchen in F6. A second important result has been reached in the bull-riding competition. Andrea Marcolla remained on the bull for one and a half minutes ,beating all other competitors. The students came back on Sunday the 7th at about lunchtime after having partied all night long to celebrate the great result.

ON ThE ROAD... BERLIN, BREmEN AND hELsINkI How everything started

A couple of months ago, the student speakers were informed about the avail-ability of financial resources to organise didactical travel for students. Mmh, didacti-cal travels?! What does this actually mean? Well, it means that we can visit international institutions and new cities, in which most of us never been to underline the theoreti-cal framework we learn about in Bolzano. A friend of mine knows a guy, who knows a guy who told him that the School of Eco-nomics and Management already organised such travels in the past. To be honest, I’ve also heard some stories about students going to Washington two years ago, and students that have been to Australia, even more years ago... But was it really possible?! During one of the meetings with Professor Narduz-zo, the director of the Master’s of Science in Entrepreneurship and

Innovation and the Master’s of Science in Global Markets & Management – curricula Entrepreneurship, the possibility of financ-ing a similar study trip, or didactical travel, was confirmed. So we started discussing how we could combine his lectures with an institutional visit. The Head of Administra-tion of the School of Economics and Man-agement, Dr. Markus Miorandi, illustrated to us the possibilities of financing the study trip and the obligations that have to be ful-filled in order to organise and participate in such a trip. It wasn’t as easy as it sounds... bureaucratically, it was a very demanding task. We needed a Professor nd his course and an idea and some student volunteers to organise it....

Where to go?! After some discussions, we convinced

Professor Narduzzo to come with us. So we had a Professor, but the linkage between lectures and the study trip still needed clari-fication! In one of his lectures we talked about “knowledge transfer” and therefore we decided to visit different Technology and Science Parks in order apply our theo-retical knowledge practically. However, it still wasn’t clear where to go and what to see. But, since we also have a Science Park “in house” we decided to ask TIS Innova-tion Park South Tyrol for some inputs, after all who could help us if not them?

Collaboration with TIS

One hot summer day, we met with the Director of TIS, Dr. Hubert Hofer, who provided us with important contacts all over Europe, names and email addresses of man-agers who work for the Techonology and Science parks in different European coun-tries. We chose Germany and Finland, pre-cisely Adlershof Berlin, Bremen Innovation and Technology Center and Otaniemi Tech-nology Hub in Helsinki.

Organisational problems Once we received the confirmation

of meetings from the Technology and Sci-ence Parks, we still had to receive the finan-cial approval of the Faculty Council of the School of Economics and Management. As we expected, the approval arrived and the Administration of the School of Economics and Management took care of the whole or-ganisational part of the study trip (primarily flights & accommodation). But the School of Economics and Management has to respect a lot of bureaucratic obligations, therefore it seemed impossible for them to book the flights and accommodation. Therefore there was just one option left for the students who wanted to participate in the study trip: to cover all costs for the study trip in advance by themselves and to be fully reimbursed by the School of Economics and Management after the study trip. Unfortunately, the costs were very high for the normal student’s budget and this fact disadvantaged some students as they could not participate in the study trip.

On the road!! Finally, a small group of five students

and Prof. Narduzzo started the European adventure of visiting the Technology and Science Parks from 11th till 15th Octo-ber 2010. In the following paragraphs we would like to share with you the most im-portant discoveries of our visits!

Innovation and Business Incubation Cen tre - IZBM

In the afternoon we met with the direc-tor of IZBM, Gerhard Raetz, who had pre-sented to us the main operational aspects of an Incubator Centre. IZBM has 18.500 m2 at disposal which is primarily used as rental offices spaces for the new companies. The number of companies that were present at IZBM at the time of our visit was equal to 78 companies, with currently 663 employ-ees. The incubation process implemented by IZBM can be divided in four steps: col-lection of ideas, establishment of the com-pany, growth and expansion.

Wista Management GmbH The first stop of our study trip was

in Berlin, Germany, at the City of Sci-ence, Business and Media (Stadt für Wis-senschaft, Wirtschaft und Medien, better known as Wista Management GmbH, the company which is working on the urban development of the Adlershof area). In the morning we met the director for Market-ing and Sales at Adlershof Berlin, Dr. Ute Hübener and in the afternoon Dr. Gerhard Raetz, director for the managing company of innovation and business incubation cen-tres in Berlin Adlershof (Innovations-Zen-trum Berlin Management, better known as IZBM) and Dr. András Gosztonyi, the chief financial officer of Heliocentris, one of the most famous start-ups from IZBM.

First Dr. Hübener explained the long his-tory of the area Adlershof, which is funda-mental in order to understand the impor-tance of this area for the city and future development of Berlin. The first historical roots of the Adlershof’s area go back to 1909, when the first motorised aircraft took off from the fields of Adlershof. In fact, un-til the end of the WWII, this area was the Headquarter of the German aviation (Deut-sche Versuchsanstalt für Luftfahrt – DVL) who used the Headquarter for research and experimental purposes. After the WWII this area was assigned to Soviet Union and be-came a part of the East Germany. However, the purpose of the territory remained the same since the area was used for research purposes and innovation. Two years after the fall of the Berlin’s wall and German re-unification in 1989, the Federal Republic of Germany decided to establish an integrated scientific and business landscape on the site of Adlershof by creating the city of science, business and media (managed by the Wista Management GmbH).

The main purpose of Wista Management GmbH is to create an area which promotes innovation, settlement and incubation of new enterprises and research. The area of 4,2 km2 of land is occupied by total of 819 companies, in which 14.000 employees work on a daily basis. Our main interest was in the City of Science, Business and Media the Science and Technology Park. The Science and Technology Park contains 399 companies and 11 scientific non-uni-versity establishments. In order to attract and encourage innovative business to settle in the area of Adlershof, also modern spe-cialised centres were established in the area, such as the Innovation and Business Incuba-tion Centre (IZBM), which we visited, the Centre for Photonics and Optical Technol-ogy, the Centre for Environmental, Bio and Energy Technology, the Centre for Informa-tion and Media Technology, the Centre for Material and Microsystems Technology, Service-Centre and International Business Incubator for Middle and Eastern European entrepreneurs.

The activity of IZBM is mainly focused on assistance, consultancy and support (fi-nancing support, such as renting of offices at affordable prices as well as infrastructural support). On average the start-up companies benefit from the IZBM support and network for 4,9 years after which they usually settle in the area of Adlershof in order to take ad-vantage of the knowledge exchange and dif-ferent centres at disposal. After the meeting with Mr. Raetz we had the pleasure to meet Dr. András Gosztonyi, chief executive offic-er of Heliocentris, a company specialised in energy storage solutions. Heliocentris, also located in Adlershof, is a specialist in hy-brid energy storage solutions consisting of flue cells, batteries and energy management. The company was founded in 1995 and was the first company focusing on the markets of fuel cells with training products.

Germany, is situated in the centre of the area with more than 20.000 students. The main goal of BITZ is to create a network for innovative projects and to bring researchers and companies together. Historically, one of the most important companies that joined the technology park is the spacecraft com-pany OHB Systems, a company specialised in low-orbit and geostationary small satel-lites for scientific research. The main tasks of BITZ offered to the start-ups and estab-lished companies are support, lobbying, net-work, cooperation, renting of offices and or-ganising of different events which can help employees of different organisation to come together and exchange their knowledge.

Bremen Innovation and Technology Centre - BITZ

The second stop of our study trip was the Innovation and Technology Centre (Bremer Innovations- und Technologiezen-trum or BITZ) where Alexander Knaust prepared a very diverse schedule for us, including a presentation of BITZ, patent rights, knowledge transfer, Kopfmaschine (one of the most promising start-up com-panies at BITZ), service venture presenta-tion of Prof. Dr. Jörg Freiling (an ex-Unibz Professor – sometimes the world iseems really small!! ) and finally the presentation of the OHB Systems Company. BITZ was founded in 1986 due to the collaboration of different regional institutions. Nowadays, in the area of 170 hectares there are more than 400 companies which operate in different industries. The University of Bremen, one of the most famous research universities in

UniTransfer The major goal of our study trip was

to discover how the technology park im-plements the knowledge transfer. On this purpose, we met Madame Dr. Susanne Fleischmann who explained to us how knowledge transfer (at BITZ so called Uni-Transfer) works and what the possibilities are for students to create their own company at the Campus of University of Bremen, of course with collaboration of the BITZ. The main purpose of BITZ and University of Bremen is to connect the economics and science by building a win-win situation for all. UniTransfer takes advantage of the geographical closeness and offers a vast portfolio of services for the start-ups, begin-ning from the spin-offs, business plan sup-port, investments network, special financing forms for start-ups and others.

Helsinki, we are coming!! After a very long flight we were finally

approaching our third and last destination for this study trip, Helsinki. At the Aalto University in Helsinki, Finland, Madame Melissa Arni-Harden was responsible for our visit and she prepared a very interesting program for us: the Otaniemi Technology Hub, Product Development Project Course and Aalto Entrepreneurship Society. The Aalto University was established in

2010 as a new university with centuries of experience, since it is created from the merger of three Finnish universities: The Helsinki School of Economics, Helsinki University of Technology and the Univer-sity of Art and Design Helsinki. Otaniemi Technology Hub, founded is the late 1980s, is an organisation which main role consists in encouraging the network creation, com-munity builder, innovation (especially in Nano, Mobile, Microelectronics and Mi-crosystems industries), creation of positive spin-offs, provision of services to the com-panies (support, consultancy, network) and encouraging of knowledge transfer. Today, in Otaniemi Technology Hub there are more than 800 companies; some of them are al-ready established and multinational compa-nies, such as Nokia, Kone, Fortum and oth-ers and some are fresh start-up companies.

Aalto Entrepreneurship Society- Aaltoes

Aalto Entrepreneurship Society is a student-run organisation founded in spring 2009. The main purpose of this society is to promote entrepreneurship, enabling students and researchers to create world-changing businesses from Aalto Univer-sity. AaltoES organises events by inspiring speakers and entrepreneurial people, which have the main purpose of bringing together students which have innovative ideas and venture capitalists, meaning persons who are able to finance the entrepreneurial ideas of students. These meetings are also called “boot camps” and are practically two week programs in which the selected teams work closely together on their projects with the most famous entrepreneurs from the Scan-dinavian and Baltic Area. AaltoES is situ-ated closely to Aalto Design Factory, in the so-called “Aalto Venture Garage”, which has 700m2 at disposal and around 40 start up companies. The selected start-up compa-nies have a seed funding of €5,000, a trip to Silicon Valley and Israel where they can visit the respective technology parks and six months of free rent. After six months the start-ups have to move out. The whole project is financed by the Aalto University, since the students are the main users.

Future plans... In the following semester, probably

in January 2011, we will organise an event during which you can find out more about our study trip and of course about our next projects,. The idea is to involve all Master students, allowing them to get closer to sci-entific organisations and build a network of international contacts (you never know, per-haps one day they can be useful).

Special thanks Last, but not least, special thanks goes

to all students who have contributed to the organisation of the study trip (Alex, Anto-nio, Fabian, Lukas, Thomas); to Prof. Nar-duzzo who was trying to find any possible (and valid!) alternative in order to allow more students to participate to this study trip, who helped us in the organisation and shared with us in this unforgettable experi-ence; to the School of Economics and Man-agement who financed our didactical travel entirely; to all collaborators of the Adminis-tration of School of Economics and Manage-ment; and finally a particular special thanks goes to the Director of TIS Innovation Park South Tyrol, Dr. Hubert Hofer, who found time for us and gave us important contacts which helped us to visit the Technology and Science parks around Europe.

Home sweet home After we had spent one week discover-

ing different methods of knowledge trans-fer, and of course three beautiful cities, we were very, well let me say extremely, happy to come back home. It was a very nice ex-perience, especially in Helsinki, because we had been given the possibility to observe how the knowledge transfer occurs in prac-tice.

LIEBEs TAGEBuCh

crisi totale.

. Ja ok, da hab ich mal nen Blick riskiert. So beim zweiten Hugo.

Also vielleicht spä-ter Mal, dann im Job.

Also: Gedacht gemacht.

Page 15: flyer18

- 15 -

Velocità (ovviamente);

Scivolate (come non sfruttare quei chilome tri di pavimento lucido e liscio che alle elementa-ri tutti noi abbiamo sognato!?);

Movenze ed espressioni strane ripetute per tut-ta la durata del corridoio ( ognuno deve trovare il suo personale modo di esprimersi, questo è un enorme esercizio interiore che porta alla li-berazione del nostro essere);

Salto in lungo.

Stile rana, in aria.

E dite:

"Ehi, facciamo sport a casaccio!"

Lasciate messaggi, salutiamoci tutti e gareggiamo!

(Perché no?

Living diversity. Everyday.

13 different nationalities, 13 (mainly first year's) students actively sharing their traditions and habits with the

FUB community. The Spanish delegation start-ing cheering louder than ever when a video of the world championships was played, a Viet-namese student arriving unannounced with a rich plate of food he prepared for all and a mul-ticultural crowd dancing together Disco Pogo (the official party song of Bozen-Bolzano). All this happened on the 7th October at the “Inter-national Evening” organized by AIESEC.

A big thanks goes to all the students who pre-pared tasty food, decorated the F6 as a global fair and presented information and curiosities about their countries to all 80 guests of the event. It's really rewarding seeing such an ac-tive participation, especially from the new stu-dents. This is giving us the right motivation to plan and organise new activities for the current academic year and put into action fresh ideas from our new members.

This event was a small step to encourage the sharing of cultural diversity which is a long-term ambition. Living diversity is one of the core values of AIESEC (besides enabling peo-ple to travel all around the world) as well as to encourage students to start getting to know dif-ferent cultures here at our university. Everyday we meet in the corridors and in the classrooms, so let's just stop for a moment and tell each oth-er something about where we come from.

Recently a survey was carried out by AIESEC in front of the mensa. The questions was: “What kind of activities you would like to see in the university?” Each student could give two preferences from the list proposed. The majority of students chose “multicultural

events” of any kind: country presentation, arts/music exhibitions, quizzes or just food tasting.Surely I would like to encourage all of you to attend multicultural events, but start living diversity in your everyday life. Tomorrow in the classroom, go and sit next to somebody you don't know. In the next group work, pick a team-mate from a dif-ferent country than yours or just initiate a conversation in the mensa with somebody coming from another continent asking how life looks like there.

I can tell from my personal experience that working in multicultural environment has enriched my background, my under-standing of other cultures and my capabil-ity to actively listen to and understand other people.

As a computer science student, I had the opportunity to work on several IT projects with colleagues from Spain, United States, Germany, Brazil, Bangladesh and Pales-tine. Each of them had very different work-ing styles. The long and sometimes boring project meetings always ended with a cup of tea or an ice-cream when the weather al-lowed it. We have been engaged in endless talks about our habits which lead initially to huge misunderstandings because sometimes we could not really understand how a person could think so differently. But then looking at the common points we could agree that we were not so different at all.

Did you choose this university for inter-nationality? Then don't miss the incredible opportunity to feel like travelling around the world within your own university and, of course, to prepare yourself for the real chal-lenging adventures your life has to offer.

ungeheuerlich! Uglaub-lich! Also fast schon eine Revolution. Für

Südtirol geradezu. Nein, nicht was Du jetzt denkst.

As every year in November, on Monday 15th the elections for the new Kikero Executive have taken place. This year it is our turn to lead the association, so let us introduce ourselves. We are a team comprised of

students from three different faculties, four different countries and equipped with many new ideas.

First of all: What is Kikero? Founded in 2000, Kikero is the FUB’s first stu-dent association with the aim of offering social and cultural activities to the stu-dent body. Over the years, the list of the regular events offered by Kikero to the student has grown steadily. Along with periodic activities such as the Flyer, the Movie Night, the Debating Club, the Aperitivo Lungo and the Unichoir, yearly events such as the Moonlight Sledging and the Glühweinstand have become a fixed part of the extracurricular life of the university. With our current team, which has grown to 7 members in the executive (five in Bolzano and two in Bressanone) and some motivated helpers, it will be possible to offer a wider range of activities.

We would like to organize various events including theatre, cooking and jug-gling workshops - offered by both professionals and students – photography and writing contests. We also aim to revive some projects that were abandoned in the past years like the Yearbook and the UniBall. Another important point of our pro-gram is the cooperation with other student associations since this could enrich the university life as a whole. The contact with the student body is the basis to achieve and to make our projects real. Therefore we intend to create a website and a more efficient Facebook page so that everyone can easily get in touch with us to sug-gest ideas and give us feedback. We are highly motivated to make our numerous projects happen – but we need your support! If you are curious about how things are done and are willing to give us a hand in organizing, you are very welcome to become a helper. Regardless of whether you contribute as a helper or just at-tend our events, a membership will benefit you in many different ways, through reduced prices and so on. We always welcome students willing to contribute with their creativity and fresh ideas and are looking forward to an exciting and produc-tive new kikero year!

Your Kikero Team.

Quali obiettivi siamo riusciti a raggiungere?

J:As a third point we consider Internationality

as an important topic. If you consider “Internatio-nality” as the number of origin countries of our stu-dents – well then we can say that the internationality of this university has grown greatly since its begin-nings. We appreciate the variety of cultures and men-talities which come from this international student body. And we would like to see this cultural richness grow even more, particularly in SOME faculties.

It is in this context that we would like to men-tion “international” events organized by some stu-dents’ associations of this university. The so-called “Snowdays” organized by the Sports Club S.C.U.B. and the so called “Global Village” by the international students’ association AIESEC, in our mind, represent

zial.

A: E questo ci porta al discorso sulla qualità;

Page 27: flyer18

the internationality of this university in a great way. Furthermore, we’re convinced that not only the

university, but the whole Province can benefit from the cultural mix presented here. And that actually was one of the main reasons to establish this university here – to encourage open-mindedness. As Albert Ein-stein supposedly once said (and as you can now read on posters in the Trenitalia trains) : “Our mind works like a parachute, it works best when it’s open”.

Just the same as with the students, we also appre-ciate the aspiration towards having professors and re-searchers from abroad.

It is obvious that, if we talk about internationality, we want to say a word or two on the linguistic situa-tion here. We think the multilingualism needs to be a factor of excellence of this institution. We hope that all members of this university community continue to invest into acquiring the 3 languages. And we are glad about the latest provisions in this regard.

“Dove studi?” “A Bressanone” “E dov’è?”

no, ogni volta che mi viene chiesto che cor-so frequento.

But it is not only the air, that is formed. Much more than that, it is the

audience that is gradually formed into something particular, while listening to live-music and whilst getting involved in the sculptured whole. Like at the second UNI-PARTY LIVE, it is always astoun-ding how an atmosphere on such events gets formed. The crowd changes from minute to minute as somebody comes, another leaves, someone starts dancing, others follow and dance in individual ways – everybody expresses his/her unique relation to music and the way the soul gets touched, somebody starts talking to a per-son, he/she has never talked to before, another quits talking with a person forever and again some are just sitting there, gazing at the currently performing group and trying to breathe in the music, as the words as well as the vibes per-vade F6.

Supported by a sedulous staff, working on the bar, supervising the exits, taking pictures and mi-xing the sound, the evening turned out once more to be greatly suc-cessful as a get-together for musi-cians and music enthusiasts. This all would not have been possible without the diligent planning, pre-paration (flyers, location, equip-ment, etc.) and after-show clea-rance work by a group of students, having spent their free time for it. Unfortunately, it is quite usual that substantial contributions from stu-dents occupying voluntary func-tions in different areas in order to render a university, such as ours, viable to enhance study life, are neither perceived nor apprecia-ted or credited. However, for the crew of UNI-PARTY LIVE it has

always been great to see that all of the concerts have been well atten-ded and everybody enjoys himself. This leads to the point at which it has to be said to everybody, who showed up:

Thank you very much for sup-

porting the shows!!!

Having had two performances

with prevalently self-written songs at the first UNI-PARTY LIVE, at the second round on 26.10.2010 it was more a wheel around to the revival of a probably almost forgotten era of music. So the first group of the evening, called “FLEX DUO”, played songs from Nancy Sinatra, The Eagles, Alanis Morissette and many more. After roughly one hour they were fol-lowed by “The Jackman” a Blues

band of five, which concluded the evening with songs from Muddy Waters, The Allman Brothers and many other famous past musicians in this genre. After a few songs, the dance floor was crowded with students dancing alone, as couples or as a group. It was a pity, when it all came to an end, because it was by far too early to break off a wonderful night that had begun just two hours before. The event started at 9 pm and had to be fi-nished around 11:15 pm, since the lounge on F6 (Bar included) had to be cleared, cleaned and left by exactly midnight.

In spite of this time issue, it is absolutely worthwhile to promote artistic talents and live concerts at our university. Every talented and passionate student has the pos-sibility to perform in public and to enrich his own as well as the university's artistic life and con-sciousness. The idea to continue the UNI-PARTY LIVE sessions – until now not on a regular ba-sis - has already been toyed with. Furthermore, in order to keep the events manifold and interesting, genres of music will be changed as far as it is possible.

It would be a shame as a matter of culture, education and quality of life not to promote artistic life. As Friedrich Nietzsche already said “Without music, life would be a mistake”.

,

ich hab Sie durchschaut. Nein, lei-der nicht die Schwarzhaarige. Das ist mehr so ein lebenslanges Lernen-

Projekt.

Also jetzt mal mild ausgedrückt, ultramild.

Gute Nacht, Dein Pepe

Area Leistungsstipendien

Sanitaria (Claudiana) 10 Scientifica 15 Sociale 19 Umanistica 27 Allgemeine 12Rangordnung insgesamt 83

FuB for Dummies: how to solve your IT-problems

In this second article of the series of “FUB for Dummies” we will try

to find out how to solve problems. IT-problems to be precise. Stu-dents in their first period here at the FUB face tons of issues related to the technological sphere of the university. Let`s take a student as an example that received a really cool laptop from his/her parents for graduating high-school. If it is a guy, the first thing he will realize is that on this now powerful lap-top you can really play any kind of video-game with no crashes and in fluent gaming. The second thing he realizes shortly after this, is that at university actually you have all but time to play your fluently run-ning video-games. Much more im-portant is a working internet con-

nection to download you timetable and an operating suite of Micro-soft Office 2010 in order to real-ize the Accounting assignments on time. What to do to get those things? Don’t worry, flyer is here to help long-time video game ad-dicts. You know where the I&CT offices are, so you wait for your Accounting lesson to finish in or-der to go upstairs in the A-building to the 5th floor to ask to fix you wireless connection. WRONG! The first thing you must know is that for those of the I&CT depart-ment a problem does not exit until it has been formulated in a ticket.

This doesn’t mean you have to go to the UniMensa, ask for a pizza-ticket and write on it that you need a connection. A ticket is kind of e-mail that works in a

closed system, administered by a programme. It grants you insight in the management of your ticket, to know how far the procedure is, and allows the system to work ef-ficiently even with thousands of requests. Phonecalls might be for-gotten in short time and mails have the problem that they are read only by the receiver, so in case he/she is ill, nobody will be able to help you in a short time. A ticket is shared among a pool of technicians and is therefore much better to help our needs. To create a ticket you first of all need to go to http://support.unibz.it. You can also access it from your portal in the IT-services page looking for Helpdesk. But personally, I think it is easier to remember the URL. Obviously, if you have connection problems you

will do it from a pc of the library, because this is an online service. Second step is to log in with your uni-account. It’s the one that starts with your first name’s initial and is followed by your surname. The password should be known to you. If yours is not working, use one of the library. Login data is your uni-account. On the left of the page you should be able to see the but-ton “New ticket”. Click on it and you will be able to create your first ticket. The first input you are requested is the queue. To make it simple, the queue works as the email-address but for a group of people depending on the area to which your problem belongs. Available queues are: Computer Pool Faculty of Computer Sci-ence (you need it only at the con-

dition of being a computer sci-ence student with problems in the computer pool. But if you are a computer science student, I hope you know how to work with the ticketing system on your own); Computer Pool Faculty of Design and Arts (just for designers with problems related to the Computer Pool); Information and Compu-ter Technology (the most useful in our case, and generally if you have problems with your account, the scientific network, printers or computers in the library, software requests, chipcards and also with the wireless connection, as in our case). As a subject just put “In-ternet connection on my laptop”. Don’t leave it empty and don’t write things that are not strictly related to your problem. A brief

description like “Installation of MS Office” or “wireless connec-tion problems” will word best. Given that we are in a perfectly working trilingual environment, there should be no problem if you choose write your ticket in any of the three official languages of the university. I don’t know how they cope with ladin, so maybe avoid it.

Obviously you don’t have to forget to describe your issue. There is a big box only for this is-sue. Here you have to behave like with a normal e-mail, so say hello, what your problem is, what kind of computer and operative system you have and so on. File attach-ment is seldom required. From here on everything works from your universities email-account. If you look at your emails you will

Page 43: flyer18

FuB for Dummies: how to solve your IT-problems

immediately see that your request will be forwarded as soon as pos-sible to the competent technician. It’s an automatically generated message. All issues related to your request will be managed via mail. Always answer the mail you have received from the I&CT. Don’t start a new mail, otherwise it won’t be linked to your ticket. Once your problem has been solved and you are happy, you will receive a last mail from the ICT department that asks you to evaluate the service. Personally I’m always very happy with them, so I always give them the highest mark. Written feed-back is also very appreciated from the people working there. So even if the box description for feedback is “just” for negative comments, I have been told that actually they

It's a long article so maybe a recap checklist of easy rule is

the best thing to conclude:

- for any problem always make a ticket

- a problem does not exist until you create a related ticket

- only one problem per ticket

- don't send an email if you can make a ticket

- send also positive feedback

- love tickets!

far. If you liked the whole ticket-ing process, then you can start a new one immediately. Tickets are never useless and in case they can’t help you, you will be told. Obviously the I&CT department cannot infringe laws copying pro-grammes or stuff like that or fix your private problems like “my pc is broken and I don’t want to pay a private technician”. The I&CT department is payed with public money for public problems.

I’d like to thank Claudia Delsante for having answered my questions related to this article.

Daniel Colm.

love to receive also positive feed-back. Tickets have four different status descriptions:

- NEW if it hasn’t been read by nobody

- OPEN if it has been read butit’s not solved yet

- STALLED if more information has been requested to the user and the I&CT cannot go on working without this information

- RESOLVED if the ticket has been closed.

Resolved tickets can be reo-pened from the support.unibz.it page, where you can also find all other tickets you have created so

Was ich da alles gehört hab. Also so viel wird

In uns. Zugegeben. Wieder was gelernt. Prey nicht mehr Dekan - nicht gut. Investiti-onen -trotzdem gut. Bringt eh nix. Nicht in dieser Si-tuation.

Gute Nacht. Dein Pepe
