Before creating my mock up’s I asked my focus group which of the following topics they would be most interested in reading on a feature page:1. MACY’S2. NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM3. BROOKLYN STREET ART4. MET MUSUEM 5. ROCKEFELLER CENTRE6. HIGHLINE

The results were as follows: 1. 6/142. 2/143. 1/144. 4/145. 1/146. 0/14

After collecting this research I found that Macy’s and the Met had the highest number of votes. Because I was uncertain on focusing my feature page on Macy’s (which had the overall highest number of votes) I asked each person who voted for these topics for their reasons. Overall, the general response was as following:

MACY’S• They enjoy shopping and it will therefore be exciting for the audience to

read about.• It will reach the interests of the majority of the target audience. • It’s the biggest store in the world and therefore a big attraction in New York. • It features a range of different shops and therefore the feature page can

focus on a range of different products and brands.

MET:• It is one of the largest attractions in New York, being the largest art museum

in the united states, and therefore people will be interested to read about it. • It will most probably reach a larger audience than Macy’s will, as it is more a

more suitable topic for all. • It contains more than two million works and can therefore focus on a range

of exhibitions.

• After gathering this information I decided to focus my feature page on the metropolitan museum of art. This is because I found that it would be better suited to the target audience of my magazine. For example, Macy’s will be suited to a large part of my target audience, however mostly young women. Whereas the MET can reach a larger range of people of different ages both male and female.

• Because Macy’s is a store that can be found across the United States I thought that focusing my magazine on the MET which is exclusive to New York would be more fitting to the regional magazine.
