FEELING TOWARD THE NOVEL

14

Page 15: Folio Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde

One novel that I really enjoyed reading was Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, written by

Robert Louis Stevenson. By reading this novel I feel very proud to Dr Jekyll because he

is brilliant scientist. He is able to lead two different lives through the discovery a new

drug. Through his experiment, he is able to separate these two aspects of his personality.

The good Dr Jekyll by day becomes the dark and evil Mr. Hyde at night.

I feel very proud to Dr Jekyll because he is very brave to try his new drug that

will separate the good and evil side. The final discovery of Dr Jekyll’s secret is exciting

and revelation.

LESSON THAT YOU LEARN FROM THE STORY

There are a number of valuable moral lessons that can learn from reading the

novel Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, written by Robert Louis Stevenson. This tale of horror is

about a brilliant scientist good and evil quality in Man. A lesson I learn from this story is

needed to be kind and charitable to others. I see this quality in the character of Mr.

Richard Enfield. Mr. Enfield goes out of his way to make sure that the fifty ‘fifthy brute’

that trampled on the little girl asks forgiveness and pays for his crimes. He comforts the

child and ensures that Hyde pays compensation on the child’s parents. He even goes

extent of following Mr. Hyde this house and the bank next day to make sure Hyde pays

the promised sum of hundred pounds.

CHARACTER THAT YOU FIND INTERESTING

I like the character Dr Jekyll because he is an intelligent man. He is very keen on

scientific research. In fact, he discover a drug which ca change the human body and

separate the good and evil side. Hyde commits evil deeds and Dr Jekyll, being and

15

Page 16: Folio Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde

intelligent man protects Mr. Hyde and himself. After host dinner parties to stop suspicion

falling on Hyde. Similarly, after the murder of Sir Danvers Carew, he stops his evil

deeds. He is smart enough to hire a shady character as his housekeeper. She keeps quiet

about his dark secrets. All these show that he is an intelligent person who is able to live a

double life for same time without being caught.

CHARACTER THAT YOU DISLIKE THE MOST

The character that I dislike the most is Mr. Hyde. In my opinion, My Hyde is evil.

He show this character traits when he tramples upon a little girl. He does not ask for

forgiveness and shows no compassion for the little girl. He is not sorry for the incident

and is reluctant to pay compensation. His evil nature is again seen in the brutal murder of

Sir Danvers Carew. He beats his victim continuously with his walking stick. “Raining

down a storm of blows, under which the bones could be, heard breaking”. Both this

incident clearly shows that Hyde is a cruel and wicked man and heis one character whom

I dislike in this novel.

hope that my friends can use my folio to revise the novels and do hope this folio would

give benefits to others.
