Lesson Plan in Science 2
I. Objectives
In the whole duration of the lesson, the students are expected to:
A. identify the basic food groups
B. differentiate each food groups
C. classify each food according to its group
D. explain the importance of eating healthy foods
II. Subject Matter
Topic: Basic Food Groups
III. Instructional Materials:
o Bond papers
o Manila paper
o Pictures of foods
o Tape
o Powerpoint presentation of the lesson
o Liquid crystal display projector
o Laptop and extension cord
IV. Developmental Procedure:
A. Motivation/Schema Building
The teacher gives two pieces of bond papers to each student. The teacher asks the
students to draw one of their favourite food on the first bond paper and one food that they
don’t like to eat on the other bond paper. Once they are done, the teacher asks for
volunteers to show their drawing and explain it in front of the class.
B. Lesson Proper
The teacher proceeds with the discussion by flashing photos of different foods
according to their group using a powerpoint presentation. The teacher asks the students to
identify what food they see. After identifying or naming the foods, the teacher asks the
following questions:
1. Do you usually eat this food?
2. Do you know the nutrients that we get from these foods?
After the students shared their ideas, the teacher explains each food group.
C. Values Integration
The teacher shows pictures of two boys of the same age and asks the students to
observe their differences. The teacher asks the following questions:
1. Who between the two boys would you like to be?
2. Do you want to keep your body healthy and strong?
3. Do you eat the proper kind and amount of food?
D. Application
The teacher divides the class into 3 groups. The teacher will post 3 manila paper
with 3 columns labelled Go, Grow, Glow on the board and ask each member of the group
to get or pick one photo of the food posted at the back of the classroom. The student will
go back on the board to post the picture according to its food group. The first group to
classify the foods correctly wins the game.
E. Generalization
After the students answer all the questions, the teacher will tell a story about a
girl who is so confuse of what to eat. She is having a hard time determining what is good
and what is bad for her body. The teacher will ask the students to help the girl what to do
to be able to be a healthy kid. After giving their ideas, the teacher will write it on the
board and will ask the students to read it all together.
V. Evaluation
The teacher will distribute the test papers and will explain the instruction to the
students.
Direction: Draw a square (□) if the food belongs to Go, heart (♥) if Grow, and circle
(○) if it belongs to Glow group.

VI. Assignment
