Top Story - The Robert Morris University football team makes its longest conference trip of the season this Saturday, Oct. 25, as it continues NEC play by facing Bryant at Bulldog Stadium at 1:00 p.m. RMU rallied for a thrilling victory over Central Connecticut State last week as it scored 18 points in the fourth quarter to claim a win that came down to the game’s final play. The Bulldogs entered the national rankings for the second time this season this week after winning their NEC opener by 15 points on the road a week ago. After RMU’s last-second victory, three Colonials were bestowed weekly honors with Hunter Khaleghi (special teams), Nic Lamica (rookie) and Forrest Mason (defense) each winning the first such award of their careers. With a catch this week, senior Duane Mitchell would tie the Robert Morris record for consecutive games with a reception as he has he enters the weekend having caught a pass in each of the past 29 games RMU has played. After the long trip, Robert Morris will enjoy its final bye before returning home for back-to-back games against a pair of NEC foes, beginning with Wagner. Quick Stat of the Afternoon - Last week against Central Connecticut State, Robert Morris trailed 17-6 at the half and then fell behind 24-6 early in the third quarter after the Blue Devils scored on the opening drive of the half. At that point, CCSU had not committed a turnover and had accrued 281 yards of total offense compared to RMU’s total of 180. However, RMU rallied by scoring the game’s final 21 points. Robert Morris forced turnovers on three of the Blue Devils’ next four drives, with the lone exception being a three-and-out. Meanwhile, the RMU offense scored on four consecutive possessions to give the Colonials the lead. Robert Morris finished +2 in turnovers and ended the game leading in total yards after trailing by more than 100 earlier in the half as the Colonials held CCSU to 59 yards of offense in the final 29 minutes of play. And that is how RMU posted the largest come-from-behind win (18 points) in program history. Saturday's Opponent - Bryant is the current conference foe that RMU has played the least with the Bulldogs joining the league in 2009. The Bulldogs had the Colonials’ number, winning each of the first five games in the series, until last year when RMU posted a 24-3 victory with a stout defensive effort, including two interceptions by cornerback Antwan Eddie. Each of the last four RMU losses to Bryant has been a one-possession game. That includes RMU’s last game at Bryant, a three-point setback that featured seven lead changes. For more information on the all-time series against Bryant, including the last game recap, please see page four of today’s game notes. On This Date (Oct. 25) in Robert Morris Football History - Robert Morris has played three previ- ous times on October 25 and has come away with a win each time. All three of these victories came in conference contests, two of which were on the road and two of which were against Wagner. RMU won two of the games by at least 21 points, but its closest outing on this date came in 2003 in what was Wagner’s final visit to Moon Stadium. Drew Geyer’s (2002-05) two first-half touchdown passes gave RMU a 13-9 lead at the break, but Wagner rallied to take the lead early in the fourth quarter. The Colonials pulled ahead once more only to see the Seahawks tie the game on the ensuing kickoff return with under three minutes left. RMU had the last laugh as Nate DiLorenzo (2003-06) hit a 22-yard field goal with five seconds left to lift the hosts to a 31-28 win. Geyer threw for 277 yards and three scores while Sam Dorsett (1999-2003) rushed for 113 and a TD. Three different Colonials tallied interceptions on the sunny afternoon. Head Coach John BanaszakFirst Season - Eastern Michigan ’75

John Banaszak became the second head football coach in Robert Morris University history in December 2013. He served as an assistant coach and assistant head coach for the Colonials for 11 consecutive years prior to taking over the top spot. Banaszak was selected as Coach-In-Waiting in January 2012, allowing for a simple transition following the 2013 campaign. At the end of the 2013 season, he was named as the Assistant Coach of the Year at the FCS level as selected by the American Football Coaches Association. He was one of five coaches selected for dedication to their teams and communities. He was the first RMU coach, as well as the first from the NEC, to claim this honor. The 2013 season was Banaszak's sixth as assistant head coach for Robert Morris. Among his numerous

duties with the program, he was responsible for tutoring the defensive line and the special teams unit. Under Banaszak's guidance in 2013, Robert Morris led the NEC in net punting, punt return defense and punt return average. Banaszak was also a key component in instructing a RMU defense that finished second in the NEC in total defense within league play in 2013. Robert Morris finished its regular season ranked among the top 25 nationally in at least seven defensive categories including total defense. With Banaszak's assistance, RMU has led the NEC in total defense four times in the past 10 years and ranked among the top four nine times in the past 11 seasons. Banaszak was a key component to a 2010 defense that led the NEC in total defense as the Colonials claimed the NEC's inaugural berth in the FCS Playoffs. In 2006, he helped tutor an RMU defense that led I-AA in total defense, allowing an average of just 228.36 yards per game. 10 of the 13 players in school history to earn All-NEC recognition on the defensive line have come under the tutelage of Banaszak, including Nolan Nearhoof (2009-12), who was named the 2012 NEC Defensive Player of the Year after breaking both the school and league records for career sacks. Nearhoof would go on to earn All-America honors, becoming the third Colonial defensive lineman to claim an All-America nod under Banaszak in a seven-year span. As much as Banaszak's presence has been felt on the defensive side of the ball, the same can be said on special teams. He has helped five distinct Colonials win an award at return specialist within the past decade. A graduate of Eastern Michigan, Banaszak signed as a free agent with the Pittsburgh Steelers prior to the 1975 season and was one of only three rookies to make the defending Super Bowl champion team out of training camp. Primarily a special teams player on Pittsburgh's Super Bowl X championship team, Banaszak started five games the following season and then started at both right end and inside tackle in 1977 before suffering a knee injury that forced him to the injured reserve list. Between 1978 and 1980, Banaszak started 45 regular-season games at defensive end as the Steelers won back-to-back Super Bowls. In Super Bowl XIII, Banaszak recorded six tackles, including a pair of sacks, and a fumble recovery in a 35-31 win over the Dallas Cowboys, which garnered him Defensive Player of the Game honors. The following year, Banaszak helped the Steelers to a 31-19 victory over the Rams.

Game #8Robert Morris 24, Bryant 3November 2, 2013 / Moon Township, Pa.

Joe Walton Stadium (Attendance: 1,432) - Duane Mitchell caught three touchdowns and the Colonial defense yielded just three points as Robert Morris cruised to a 24-3 victory over Bryant in a NEC matchup. Bryant entered the game in first place in the league after notching a 42-14 victory over Duquesne just a week ago. However, the RMU defense stood its ground by forcing four turnovers and conceding only 226 yards of total offense. Robert Morris received the opening kickoff and took just three plays to take the lead as junior Paul Jones hit Mitchell for a 67-yard strike as the receiver broke one tackle and then raced down the right sideline untouched for the score. It was the longest pass of Jones' career and the longest reception of Mitchell's career. After each team punted once, Antwan Eddie notched his first interception of the day as he made a jumping grab on a Bulldog fourth-down attempt in RMU territory. Robert Morris drove the ball 34 yards but was then forced to punt. Bryant then moved the ball into RMU territory on their next drive and was once again turned away on fourth down as RMU stopped a play from the Wildcat formation. The Bulldogs would force a punt and then drive inside the RMU 10-yard line. Senior defensive lineman Chris Thompkins registered a big sack to help force a field goal attempt, which was converted from 38 yards. Robert Morris rushed for 46 yards on its next drive to move into the red zone, and true fresh-man Connor Shennan would hit a 35-yard field goal to make the lead 10-3, a score which would stand until halftime. On the first play from scrimmage of the second half, Eddie came up with his second pick and returned it 24 yards into Bryant territory. Five plays later, Jones would hit Mitchell for a 12-yard pass to increase the Colonial lead. After the Colonial defense held Bryant to a three-and-out, Eddie returned a punt 14 yards to give the offense excellent field position. Robert Morris soon took advantage as Jones would find Mitchell one more time, this time from 13 yards out, on the eighth play of the drive. After a pair of punts, Bryant drove well into RMU territory, but Kyle Cooper forced a fumble on a run play, and Marcelis Branch jumped on the loose pigskin for his second recovery of the season. Cooper forced a turnover on Bryant's next drive as well by intercepting the Bulldogs and returning it 32 yards. RMU was then able to run over four minutes off the clock to essentially ice the victory. Senior D.J. Myers posted 10 tackles along with a pass breakup while redshirt senior Mike Cook tallied nine stops, including a tackle for loss. Both Cook and Myers surpassed 200 career tackles against Bryant, becoming the 19th and 20th Colonials to achieve that feat.

Robert Morris Quick FactsLast Time Out - Robert Morris scored 18 points in the fourth quarter, including the game-winning touchdown pass with 3:49 to play, as the Colonials defeated CCSU, 27-24 … RMU won the turnover battle and led in first downs, total yards and time of posses-sion … Sophomore Sam Woods recovered an onside kick … Sophomore Andy Smigiera notched a leaping interception, his second pick in the last three games … RMU con-verted three third downs and a fourth down on a 91-yard scoring drive … Senior Forrest Mason posted his first-career forced fumble … Senior linebacker Mike Stojkovic notched a team-high nine stops, including one on the game’s crucial final play.

Special Special Teams - Senior Hunter Khaleghi had one of the finest special teams performances in school history last week and earned NEC weekly honors. He was a perfect 4-for-4 on field goal attempts against CCSU, breaking a school record for field goal makes. It was also the most converted by any athlete in a NEC contest since 2002. He hit from a career-long 42 yards in the second quarter and also connected from 39 yards out to begin his day. Khaleghi added a successful onside kick to his ledger as well.

On Target - Duane Mitchell had a breakout campaign as a junior in 2013 as he reset the single-season school record with 52 receptions and notched 867 receiving yards, the second-highest figure in RMU history. What made those stats even more impressive is that RMU faced four of the top 30 passing defenses in the nation a year ago. Mitchell has posted 35 catches in the first seven games of 2014. That has moved him into second in career receptions at RMU (114) and third in receiving yards (1,655). Mitchell needs just 43 more receiving yards to move into second in that category.

D-Fence - Senior Forrest Mason was a thorn in the side of the CCSU offense last week and earned NEC weekly honors as a result. He finished with eight tackles and forced the turnover that directly led to RMU's winning TD. On the eight stops he was in on, the CCSU ballcarriers combined for just 10 net yards. His biggest play was a strip sack and fumble recovery late in the fourth quarter with RMU trailing. He was the first Colonial defensive lineman to claim NEC Defensive Player of the Week since 1999.

Tough Sledding - Robert Morris has faced a number of quality opponents thus far with the combined record of the foes they’ve played sitting at 30-17 (.638). Two of them are nationally ranked, and four of them have only one loss. It certainly doesn’t get any easier this week for the Colonials as Bryant is also ranked and has just one defeat.

Double-Take - After starting the first four games of the season at linebacker, Nic Lamica’s move to wide receiver is going well as evidenced by his NEC Rookie of the Week award. He caught eight passes in last week’s win, tying a RMU freshman record, for 112 yards and a touchdown. He would rank third in the league in receiving yards per game if his average was based solely on the games in which he took offensive snaps.

Pick City - Robert Morris ranked among the top 15 nationally in interceptions in 2013, and the Colonial defense is trying to match that effort this year with nine interceptions in the first seven games. RMU has grabbed at least one interception in 12 of its past 14 games and multiple picks in seven of those contests. In fact, the Robert Morris defense has tallied 22 interceptions in the team’s past 12 games.

Double the Fun - Junior Derik Abbott tossed a pair of touchdowns last week against CCSU and has now thrown for two TD’s in each of his first three starts. In doing so, he became the first Colonial ever to throw multiple touchdown passes in each of his first three collegiate starts. Four of Abbott’s six touchdowns have been 19+ yards in length.

Break It Up - The median completion percentage across the FCS in 2014 is 56.8%. Robert Morris has allowed only one of its past 14 opponents to reach that mark. In fact, five times in this stretch, the Colonials have held their opponent under a 45% rate.

Start Me Up - Tony LaMancusa enters Saturday's game with the most consecutive start-ing assignments of all active Colonials as he has served as the punter for 40 straight games. When special teams is excluded, Antwan Eddie and Nick Faraci are tied for the most total starts among active Colonials at 29.

Game #7 • Robert Morris 27, Central Connecticut State 24October 18, 2014 • Moon Township, Pa.

Joe Walton Stadium (Attendance: 1,034) - Robert Morris scored 18 points in the fourth quarter to cap the largest comeback in school his-tory as the Colonials defeated Central Connecticut State, 27-24. After RMU punted on its first drive, CCSU drove 10 plays to move into the red zone, but the Colonials forced a field goal that was made. A RMU turnover and a missed CCSU field goal would follow before Robert Morris tied the game with a 14-play drive was capped off with a 39-yard field goal by Hunter Khaleghi. RMU then pulled into its bag of tricks as it successfully recovered an onside kick on the final play of the first quarter. The play helped RMU take the lead as Khaleghi hit a 42-yarder on the ensuing drive. CCSU came right back on its next drive to retake the lead as it benefited from a 40-yard pass to take a 10-6 edge. After a RMU punt, the Blue Devils then found the end zone on five plays to move their advantage to 13 points. RMU then punted, and both teams followed with a turnover on downs in the opponents’ territory, essentially ending the first half. CCSU added to its lead with the first drive of the second half as it marched 75 yards to seemingly take control of the game. However, the Colonials began to fight back as they drove 60 yards for a field goal. CCSU drove into RMU territory on its next drive, but Andy Smigiera notched a leaping interception. RMU responded by driving 91 yards as Derik Abbott hit Nic Lamica with a 25-yard TD. The RMU defense continued its strong second half by forcing a three-and-out, and the subsequent punt by CCSU was returned 31 yards by Antwan Eddie, helping set up Khaleghi's fourth field goal. On CCSU's next drive, Forrest Mason jarred the ball free from the quarterback and subsequently recovered the pigskin to give the RMU offense golden field position. RMU didn't waste time taking the lead as Abbott nailed Duane Mitchell on the second play of the next drive. Robert Morris then con-verted for two points with a trick play in which Abbott caught a pass. CCSU moved the ball near midfield on its next drive, but David Taylor jumped the route and posted another pick. RMU forced CCSU to use all of its timeouts on its final drive of the game, but its subsequent punt was blocked, giving the Blue Devils one final chance. However, Robert Morris was up to the task as it held CCSU to -16 yards on its final three plays. Mike Stojkovic tackled a Blue Devil on a screen pass inbounds on a third down play, which let time expire and sent the Colonial sideline into jubilation.

Last RMU GameFilling In - Senior Ryan Thermil was a big piece to the win for Robert Morris last week. Thermil ran for a career-high 113 yards, 94 of which came after halftime. He moved the sticks with RMU going for it on fourth down on a drive that ended with a TD. His effort made him the second Colonial this sea-son to rush for 100+ yards in a game (Rameses Owens). It is the first time since 2009 that two Colonials ran for 100 yards in a game in the same season.

Taylor's Quartet - After entering 2014 without a career start, junior David Taylor has had quite the impact from his cornerback position thus far this season. Taylor has four interceptions in seven games, a mark which has him tied for first in the Northeast Conference. Taylor also blocked a field goal try at Lafayette as he came roaring off the corner to get a piece of the pigskin.

Any Given Saturday - Before becoming a record-breaking receiver for RMU, Duane Mitchell began his career as a running back in his rookie season. Since moving to receiver, Mitchell has played in 29 games, and he has caught at least one pass in each of those outings. He has caught multiple passes in 19 of the team's past 20 games. The RMU record for consecutive games with a reception is held by tight end Shadrae King (2008-11), who caught a pass in each of the final 30 games he played.

Go the Distance - In his first-career start (10/4), Derik Abbott orchestrated a couple of long scoring drives. Under his command, Robert Morris tallied a nine-play, 85-yard drive and a 15-play, 86-yard drive, both of which went for touchdowns. It marked the first game in nearly six years that the Colonials produced two scoring drives longer than 80 yards. Abbott led RMU on a 16-play, 91-yard drive in last week's win, its longest in more than two years.

Initial Impressions - A number of RMU players have accrued a ‘first’ in the season’s opening seven games. A total of 22 Colonials have made their first-career start thus far, 13 on offense and nine on defense. 13 of those 22 had never competed in a collegiate game before 2014. In all, 34 Colonials have made their collegiate debut this season. Luke Brumbaugh became the first redshirt or true freshman to start a season opener at QB for RMU since 1994.

Spread the Love - Robert Morris grabbed 16 interceptions in 2013, its second-highest figure since 1999. What really was noteworthy about RMU's sum was that 11 different Colonials helped produce it, marking the most players to have at least one interception in any RMU season. After Andy Smigiera grabbed a pick on Homecoming against Monmouth, 14 distinct Colonials have grabbed at least one interception in the team’s past 14 games.

Go For It - Robert Morris went 3-for-3 on fourth down on Homecoming against Monmouth. It marked the first time they were perfect on fourth down with at least three attempts since October 2011 against Albany (10/15). The Colonials then went 2-for-3 last week and are 5-for-6 in their last two home games. Three of the five conversions have been longer than five yards.

Time to Buy Stock - The RMU defense was hit hard by graduation losses after last season, but one piece the Colonials are happy to have is linebacker Mike Stojkovic. Stojkovic, who was hampered by injuries in 2013, transferred to RMU from FBS school North Texas where he started nine games as a true freshman, making 48 tackles. He is sixth in the NEC in tackles as he has 53 stops, 31 solo, 5.5 tackles for loss and a fumble recovery in 2014.

Trick-or-Treat - Robert Morris’ thrilling comeback win last week may not have been possible without some well-executed, but rarely run, plays by the Colonials. RMU successfully recovered an onside kick against the Blue Devils, the first time it recovered one since October 2012. RMU also converted a two-point conversion with a pass to primary quarterback Derik Abbott.

The Sports Network FCS Top 25

NEC Champions since 1996

For Starters - When Robert Morris took the field last Saturday against Central Connecticut State, it sported its seventh distinct offensive starting lineup in the first seven games. RMU, which has sported different lineups on offense in its past 10 games overall, has seen 19 distinct players start on offense in 2014 alone.

Making the Grade - Recently graduated linebacker Kyle Cooper and current senior offensive lineman Nick Faraci were both named Capital One Academic All-District First Team last November. As a result of their first-team selections, both Colonials advanced to the Academic All-America ballot. While this was the first such honor for both Cooper and Faraci, the RMU football program is no stranger to academic successes. These two accolades gave the Colonial program at least one Academic All-District honoree in each of the past 11 seasons, a span in which Robert Morris has taken home 21 overall selec-tions. To put that in perspective, no other NEC school has an active streak of football academic all-district selections longer than two years. Cooper, a sport management major who also earned his Master of Business Administration, had a 3.71 GPA. He had 81 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and forced two turnovers in 2013. Faraci, a nursing major, has a sterling 3.92 GPA. He has started 29 consecutive games at center, the most consecutive starts by any active Colonial on offense or defense.

Ramming Defenses - Rameses Owens was named National Freshman of the Week after breaking school records in the road opener at North Dakota. He is believed to be the first Colonial ever to earn Freshman of the Week honors from The Sports Network. Owens had a breakout performance as he racked up a RMU freshman record 199 rush-ing yards while finding the end zone once. In the non-conference finale, Owens ran for 154 yards against Monmouth, averaging over six yards per rush. Both Monmouth and North Dakota are ranked among the top 25 nationally in rushing defense.

Hurry Up – One of Darrin Hicks' goals as offensive coordinator is to run plays at a high rate. RMU has run at least 80 plays 12 times in its program history with four of those occurrences coming in the first seven games of this year. That figure has tied the 2004 RMU team for the most 80+ play games in a season.

Catch Me If You Can - Antwan Eddie will have a challenge duplicating his 2013 effort as he became the first Colonial to be named an All-American for a performance on special teams. He returned punts for the first time in his career in 2013 and tallied a single-season school record 405 yards on 27 returns. He ranked third in the FCS, averaging 15 yards per return, and broke a school record with an 88-yard return for a TD at VMI. Eddie, who also earned postseason acclaim on defense as he garnered All-NEC honors at cornerback, posted a season-long 31-yard return in last week's win over CCSU.

They'll Be Back - One interesting way to examine the youth of the Colonials is to look at the number of players that started their season opener who will be done with their careers after this season. Of RMU’s 22 offensive and defensive starters from its opener, only three Colonials—two on offense, one on defense—will have used all of their NCAA eligibility when the 2014 campaign is completed.

Punt It - Tony LaMancusa earned All-NEC honors in 2013 after leading the league in punting. He also helped RMU top the NEC in both net punting and punt return defense. LaMancusa, a four-year starter, broke the Robert Morris record for career punts in the NEC opener and has currently booted the ball 234 times. He has notched 30 punts downed inside the 20 against only four touchbacks in his last 20 games.

Happy Anniversary - Robert Morris’ thrilling victory last week made it possible that this year’s squad could achieve a mirror image of what the 2009 team did five years ago. That group started 0-6 but then finished with a 180-degree turnaround as they won their final five games, which proved to be a springboard to a championship run in 2010. After having a negative turnover differential after six games in 2009, the Colonials posted a +9 differential in their five game winning streak. Similarly, RMU posted a +2 turnover differential last week after having a negative mark in the opening half dozen games. RMU’s first win in 2009 was the third-career start under center for Jeff Sinclair (2009-12). Derik Abbott made his third collegiate start last week.

Farison Elevated to Assistant Head Coach

Robert Morris University head coach John Banaszak announced September 10 that Scott Farison had been promoted to assistant head coach. Farison is in his 13th season on the sidelines for RMU and is the longest-tenured active mem-ber of the staff. He is in his eighth season as the defensive coordinator for the Colonials, and he will retain the responsibility for leading the defense in his new role. "Scott's been here for 13 years and absolutely deserves this promotion to assistant head football coach," Banaszak said. "He performs many duties that are not in his job description and is definitely my right-hand man. Promoting him to assistant head coach is certainly the next step in his career." The Colonials have consistently produced quality defenses under Farison's watch, and last year was no exception. In Farison's 11 seasons coaching the defensive side of the ball at RMU, the Colonials have finished among the top 25 nationally in total defense on six occasions, including finishing among the top 11 on four of those occurrences. Robert Morris has led the Northeast Conference in total defense four times in the past 10 years with guidance from Farison. In 2013, RMU ranked second in total defense within league play, finishing in the top two in that category for the third time in five years. Farison helped the RMU defense finish the regular season among the top 25 nationally in a number of defensive categories including third-down defense, first downs allowed, passing defense, red zone defense, passing efficiency defense, turnovers gained and total defense. Farison has been directly responsible for helping four different Colonials to NEC Defensive Player of the Year honors within the past decade, including two within the past four years. He has also assisted two Colonials to NEC Defensive Rookie of the Year honors in his time at RMU. In Farison's seven seasons as defensive coordinator, he has seen RMU claim 21 All-NEC awards on the defensive side of the ball. Farison had spent the past decade as the recruiting coordinator for Robert Morris, but as part of the move, Banaszak announced that assistant coach Andrew Richardson would assume that role. Richardson, the team's offensive line coach, is in his eighth season on staff with RMU. In Richardson's seven seasons as an assistant, RMU offensive linemen have claimed seven All-NEC honors with two separate Colonials earning All-America awards.

Robert Morris in the 2014 NEC StatsThe Founding Father - The one constant in the first two decades of Colonial football was former head coach Joe Walton. Walton, the former NFL tight end and head coach of the New York Jets, started the program from scratch, com-pleting everything from hiring assistants to purchasing equipment. He was named NEC Coach of the Year four times in 18 seasons and guided RMU to a pair of NCAA I-AA mid-major national crowns during his time on the side-lines. Walton, currently a special assistant to the athletic director at Robert Morris, was inducted into the RMU Athletic Hall of Fame last November.

Get To The Chopper - A quick glance at RMU’s record when broken down proves how important it is the Colonials get off to a good start in contests. When Robert Morris is leading at halftime, the program owns an all-time record of 89-13 (.873). When trailing at the break, Robert Morris owns a mark of 13-76-1 (.150). Even going into halftime tied is beneficial, as the Colonials own an overall record of 14-9 (.609) in such games.

The Magic Mark - Since the Colonials began play in 1994, there have been 76 games in which Robert Morris has scored 30 or more points. In those contests RMU boasts a record of 71-5 (.934), including a record of 42-5 (.894) in games in which the team scores between 30 and 39 points. In games in which the Colonials score 40 or more points, RMU is a perfect 29-0.

RMU Football Historical Tidbits - The inaugural running back at Robert Morris, the late Tim Hall (1994-95), rushed for 2,908 yards in his two seasons as a Colonial. Hall still owns the FCS season and career records for yards per carry, with his season record of 8.7 yards per carry set in 1994 and his two-year career record of 7.4 established in 1994 and 1995 ... Hall also ranks fourth all-time in the FCS in both rushing yards per game (153.1) and all-purpose yards per game (194.8) ... Former Colonial linebacker James Noel (2002-05) ranks sixth in the FCS record book for career tackles per game (10.7), while his career tackle total of 437 takedowns ranks 14th all-time ... Former linebacker and current assistant coach Alex DiMichele (2008-10) averaged 10 tackles per game over his three years in a Robert Morris uniform, which ranks 13th all-time in the FCS record book ... Robert Morris has topped the nation in passing defense twice in the past 15 years, based on passing efficiency defense rating. The Colonials topped the charts in 1999 (with a 80.80 rating) as well as in 2006 (with a 88.70 rating).

Did You Know? - Robert Morris owns the all-time FCS record for the most consecutive quarters while holding an opponent scoreless. During the 1996 season, the Colonials went 15 straight quarters without allowing a single point. In fact, the record-setting streak occurred at the beginning of the sea-son. RMU posted three straight shutouts -- 20-0 against Mercyhurst (9/7), 38-0 against Butler (9/14) and 7-0 against Towson State (9/21) -- to open the campaign and then held Central Connecticut State (9/28) scoreless for the first three quarters before finally allowing a point for the first time all sea-son. In all, Robert Morris went 234:04 before allowing a point in 1996. RMU went 9-2 (.818) in 1996, claiming a share of the NEC championship, and con-ceded just 12.9 points per game.

Robert Morris CaptainsHead coach John Banaszak recently announced that senior linebacker Mike Stojkovic was named as a captain, giving the Colonials a trio of permanent captains. Robert Morris previously had one offensive captain and one defensive captain with two additional players serving as captains each week on a rotating basis.

OFFENSERedshirt senior Jon Hill is the team’s captain on offense. Hill is the most experienced offensive lineman on the ros-ter, having played in 32 career games. He started every game at right tackle in 2013 and has also started at right guard. Hill actually entered RMU as a defensive lineman coming out of high school, but he was transitioned to the offensive side of the ball before his sophomore season.

DEFENSESeniors Antwan Eddie and Mike Stojkovic are the team’s captains on defensive. Eddie is a three-year letterwinner and two-year starter at cornerback. He claimed all-con-ference honors at both defensive back and return special-ist last season after breaking the single-season school record for punt return yards. He owns 102 tackles, seven interceptions and 498 punt return yards in his career. Stojkovic transferred to RMU from an FBS program before the 2013 season. After playing only four games due to injury last year, he has started every game at linebacker in 2014. He owns 71 tackles at RMU and 7.0 tackles for loss.

Colonial football games are heard live on ESPN Radio AM-970 Pittsburgh, the flagship station of Robert Morris University athletics. ESPN 970 and RMU reached a three-year agreement in the summer of 2013 to broadcast foot-ball, men’s basketball and men’s hockey games. The Voice of the Colonials, Chris Shovlin, and color analyst Brian Cleary call the football action. RMU Assistant Sports Information Director Spencer Kowitz joins Shovlin as color analyst for select Colonial road games. "The John Banaszak Show" is on 30 minutes prior to kickoff. Games can also be heard on the station’s website, www.970espn.com, as well as on iHeartRadio. RMU home and league games can be seen live for free on NEC Front Row, the conference’s online digital net-work. The league has added multiple upgrades this year, including the ability to transmit live events in HD as well as providing the ability for the viewer to use a DVR-style, in-game real-time rewind feature.

Colonials in the NFLSince Robert Morris played its first season in 1994, three former Colonials have appeared in a game in the National Football League (NFL), the most among current NEC members in this span as of August 2014. Many players have “rewritten” record books at various schools. At Robert Morris, however, Tim Hall wrote the record book. Hall rushed for 2,908 yards on 393 carries in his two seasons in a Colonial uniform and was named an All-American by the Associated Press in 1995. He was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the sixth round (183rd player overall) in the 1996 NFL Draft. In 1997, he led the Raiders in yards per carry average with 5.2 and was second in rushing yards to Napolean Kaufman. On Sept. 30, 1998, Hall was shot and killed in Kansas City at age 24. Hank Fraley, who played on the offensive line for Robert Morris from 1996-1999, carved out a niche for himself in the NFL for over a decade. Fraley was a three-time Mid-Major All-American during his years at RMU before he was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers to a free-agent contract in April 2000. Fraley was later claimed by the Eagles and started at center for Philadelphia for the entire 2001 season, helping the team to the 2002 NFC Championship game. For four straight seasons with Fraley starting at center from 2002-05, the Eagles appeared in the NFC Championship game. In 2005, Fraley became the first RMU alum to appear in the Super Bowl when he started at center against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXIX. Former RMU defensive back Robb Butler played for the San Diego Chargers during the 2004 season and was featured in special teams situations, including returning kickoffs.
