For All Your Document Management Requirements
About AMS AMS Imaging/Australian Microfilm Services (AMS) was formed in 1971 and have operated from our South Melbourne Offices since 1973. AMS primarily is involved with document imaging and archiving AMS is accredited to ISO 9001:2008 which we have maintained since 2003. The Quality system is the standard upon which all production processes are based. AMS has survived and prospered based on the quality of our services and the commitment to acquiring and using the latest in hardware, software and best practice procedures. AMS can perform all services in-house without the need for external contractors. However, we can even work with you on-site where the documents have to remain in situ. AMS store critical and heritage materials in our fire rated walk-in vault. The vault is inspected annually to ensure compliance and preservation standards are maintained. AMS have staff with over thirty years experience, most have 10-15 years. All staff are Police checked, and have confidentiality agreements that remain in effect in perpetuity. All staff are trained internally and abide with our standard practices and procedures. Our staff are trained to be sensitive to our clients needs whether it be the confidentiality of data or heritage value of a fragile item.
Why Choose AMS Whether you are looking for a supplier to outsource all your imaging requirements, backlog scanning or need a partner to work with to solve your document management problems, we can assist. AMS have software solutions that are VERS compliant to cater for Electronic content Management through to Automated Invoice Processing. AMS use the latest in high speed imaging equipment and software, all of which is fully maintained by the manufacturer. AMS have specialized equipment to handle your legacy formats such as microfiche, aperture cards and roll film. These can all be converted back to digital images to help you update your information library and document store. AMS can handle large format and heritage materials either through dedicated large format scanners or book scanners in colour or black and white. AMS can supply VERS compliant Electronic Content Management (ECM) software from ELO Digital. Alternatively if you have your own software we output any information in that format. AMS can print up to A0 in colour or black and white from any source materials you have, this can include printing from scanned documents through to microforms. If you are considering doing your own imaging in-house AMS can assist with backlog work, meaning you can purchase a smaller scanner and concentrate on day forward imaging, rather than the burden of trying to sort and capture your older files. Finally AMS can even help recommend what scanners to use or provide you with Records Management Staff to assist in sorting out your information.

Aperture Cards
Store technical drawings on aperture cards, saving space, time and reducing costs,
whilst creating a security file.
Aperture cards are the most space and cost-
effective solution to storing and distribution.
Aperture cards can be punched creating a data card.
Other advantages of aperture cards that are
punched:
● Immediate verification of drawings and
issues
● Drawings are retrievable by
description
● All information can be supplied on
media to update EDMS
● Card distribution list
● List can be created to find missing
drawings
● Automatic print-out via PC for future
printers
● Scanning of aperture cards can
reduce costs by at least 50%
● Aperture card becomes your security
copy after scanning
● If you already have aperture cards you
can have all these advantages for a
few extra cents
For The Office and Library
Microfilm
Microfilm has many benefits. Standards are
available, and it offers long-term storage
retention for up to 500 years.
You can read 50 plus years old microfilm on today’s modern equipment and it can be
read with two familiar items that will never
become obsolete - the human eye and a
magnifying glass.
These advantages over all other storage mediums mean that the office records on
microfilm have:
● Infinite flexibility from a common base
● Security
● Legality (2008 Vic. Evidence Act)
● Cheapest storage media
● Space savings
Scanning
New Imaging technology has opened up access to legacy material. These
developments have enabled:
● Concurrent file access
● Indexed searching
● Very fast retrieval
● Multiple search Options
These combined improvements are just what
the office environment needs to link to
microfilm, laser and magnetic systems.
With the introduction of digital readers/printers, information can be
transferred from microfilm to a PC, fax or
laser printer without incurring large costs.
