Steampunk
A BOOK LINK GUIDE
Intro to Steampunk
Steampunk is a fascinating subgenre of the cyberpunk genre. Arguably, it’s the most popular subgenre. Steampunk in its truest form is more punk than steam. The steam aspect of steampunk comes from the advance of steam technology during the Victorian Era. Punk derives from the 70s and 80s punk movements that pushed for defiance of social and political norms. True punk art, be it music, literature, motion picture, or otherwise will always have a political or social agenda. Likewise, most steampunk will carry strong themes of defiance and an anti-establishment ideology.
