The proposed products fall under Category 5(f) as stated in Environment Impact Assessment

Notification Published on 14th September, 2006. Further, the location of the proposed project is

outside the notified industrial estate. Hence, the project proponent has to obtain the EC from

the Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change, New Delhi. The pharmaceutical

industry is based primarily upon the scientific research and development (R&D) of medicines

that prevent or treat disease and disorder. Modern scientific and technology advances are

accelerating the discovery and development of innovative pharmaceuticals with improved

therapeutic activity and reduced side effects. Industrial chemicals are used in researching and

developing active drug substances and manufacturing bulk substances and finished

pharmaceutical products. M/s. T. R. Associates has been appointed to carry out EIA/EMP

studies for Environmental Clearance.

The total land area of company is 14285 m2 out of which 4767 m2 (33.3 % of total land) area will

be used for greenbelt development. The estimated cost of the proposed project is 6.65 Crores.

Total budget allocation towards Environmental Management Facilities will be Rs. 50 Lacs. Total

110 persons will be employed including skilled persons, unskilled persons and office staff.

2. Project Proponent and their back ground

Company is promoted by its partners namely Dr. Jaysukhbhai N. Radadiya is working as a

general surgeon for 18 years, experience in Pharma, Mr. Kashyap G. Radadiya having 8

months experience in API manufacturing.

3. Brief description of nature of the project

It is a small scale project for production of synthetic organic chemicals API pharmaceutical

which will be sold in domestic market as well exported.

a. Need for the project and its importance to the country and or region:

Looking to the product profile, it is required to take Environmental Clearance. In India, good

quality raw materials are available at cheap rates, enabling the manufacturing at low cost. This

increases the profit margin as compared to other players in the world. To meet the current and

future market demand, the project proponent intends to start a new unit. Looking to the market

demand, the proposed project is feasible at stated location.

b. Imports v/s Indigenous production:

Indian market is open and big that is why every kind of import is booming. Indian industrialist

must understand the fact that its no more a regional shift, it is a global shift. Indian technology

should be upgraded an updated at par with international standards.

The working environment in India has changed tremendously. Earlier the trade fairs were

hardly participated by foreign chemical manufacturing companies where as now it is flooded

with global suppliers.

c. Export Possibility:

There is good possibility for export. But currently we are focused on local sale market for

distribution.

d. Employment Generation (Direct and Indirect) due to the project:

This project will provide direct employment to 110 people whereas it will provide employment

to many others indirectly.

4. Project Description

a. Type of project including interlinked and interdependent projects:

The scientific research & development in API mfg is focused increasing the yield and reducing

the toxicity of waste and consumption of solvents, using alternative manufacturing method etc.

in this context the API manufacturing is viewed as an environmentally hazardous activity.

According MoEF&CC, GOI mandated prior Environmental clearance for synthetic organic

chemicals manufacturing units vide s.o. 1533 dated 14-09-2006. Active pharmaceutical

ingredients are frequently used for cure the disease as well. So it is an individual Industry

having no direct dependency on others.

b. Location

Proposed project is to be located at Survey no.: Survey no.: 340 & 345, Village-Amipura,

Kensville-Nalsarovar Road, District-Bavla, Ahmedabad-382220.

Soil classification of Rajkot

The soils found in the district are mostly of Black soil, Goradu soil, Kyari and Rocky soil.

(1) Black Soil

Black soils cover the southern part of Dholka and eastern part of Dhandhuka taluka popularly

known as „Bhal‟ tract, where cotton is grown in the initial stage of monsoon. It is not very

clayey and contains above 20% of clay and about 40 % of sand. Sub-soil invariably contains

horizons of lime nodules. This type of soil is highly suitable for cultivation of rabi wheat, which

is the main crop raised on this soil. If rains are sufficient in the late monsoon, rabi jowar and

grams are sown. Medium Black Soils are found in Viramgam, Sanand and Dholka talukas. This

soil is suitable for growing bajri, jowar and cotton.

(2) Goradu Soils

Goradu soils vary from fertile brown to sandy loam and is found in City, Dascroi and parts of

Sanand, Dholka and Viramgam talukas. This soil is mostly fertile and responds very well to

irrigation and manuring. Practically all kinds of crops can grow on this soil.

(3) Kyari

Kyari soils are found in several parts of City, Dascroi, Sanand, Dholka and Viramgam talukas.

It is the most fertile soil with very good moisture and retentive capacity. Well known varieties

of paddy such as Pankali, kamod, Jirasar, Sukhvel, Sutarsal and Basumati are grown on this

soil.

(4) Rocky soils

Rocky soils are found in Dhandhuka taluka and is known as Kaner tract. It is shallow, light in

texture and fit for early maturing crops like cotton, Bajri, Jowar and Math.

Social Infrastructure available.

Ahmedabad city is near to project site. The social infrastructure of district has good education,

health and other facilties.

(1) Education

There are 2373 primary, 1293 secondary and higher secondary schools in the district along with

major colleges such as

Indian Institute of Management (IIM)

National Institute of Design (NID)

(2) Health

The district has 43 primary healthcare centres, 9 community healthcare centres, 18 government,

8 municipal and 6 government aided hospitals.

Ahmedabad hosts some of the best private hospitals in the State such as Apollo Hospital,

Sterling Hospital, Krishna Heart Centre and Gujarat Cancer Society which have the

of over INR 100 crores (USD 23.8 million), Sterling has state of the art infrastructure to provide

high quality services across a range of specialties.

Krishna Heart Centre, one of the leading medical service providers, is the multi specialty

hospital present in the district.

Climate data from Indian Meteorological Department

The district has extreme climate and wide variation in temperature is observed.

(1) Seasons:

The climate of the district is characterised by hot summer and general dryness except during

the southwest monsoon seasons. The year can be divided into four seasons. The period from

March to May is the hot season (summer) followed by southwest monsoon from June to

(4) Rainfall:

The annual rainfall is received during SW monsoon season from June-September, with July

being the highest rainfall month. Average annual rainfall is 500-1000 mm.

10. Planning Brief

a. Planning Concept (type of industries, facilities transportation etc) Town and Country

Planning/Development authority Classification.

Proposed Project site is located near to the NH8A which is well connected to the Ahmedabad

city having all the infrastructural and transportation facilities.

Ahmedabad is an industrial base for sectors such as chemicals, textiles, drugs and

pharmaceuticals and agro and food processing industries. Textile and Chemicals have been the

major sectors of investment and employment in the district, since 1980. Ahmedabad district

accounts for 21.5% of factories and employs 18% of workers in the state. Over 14% of the total

investments in all stock exchanges in India and 60% of the total industrial productivity is

contributed by the district. Several business conglomerates such as Adani Group, Reliance

Industries, Nirma Group of Industries, Arvind Mills, Claris Life Sciences, Cadilla

Pharmaceuticals, Shell, Vadilal Industries Ltd., Rasna, Bosch Rexroth (Germany) ,Stork and

Rollepaal (Netherland) are present in the district. Presence of Ahmedabad Textile Industry’s

Research Association (ATIRA), the largest association for textile research and allied industries

in India, has helped the district in becoming a thriving textile centre. Most of the medium and

large scale industries are concentrated in talukas such as Ahmedabad city, Sanand, Viramgam,

Daskroi and Dholka.
