①Automatic ticket vender

“Rapid Airport” departs every fifteen minutes in the daytime. The trains are operated frequently and provide great convenience, with fastest trains connecting Sapporo and Otaru in 32 minutes, and New Chitose Airport and Otaru in 73 minutes.JR is the only one public transportation which operates directly from New Chitose Airport to Otaru. In addition to ordinary cars, ”Rapid Airport” also offers reserved seat cars. Passengers can purchase reserved seat tickets at an automatic ticket vender and JR Ticket Counter (Midori-no-madoguchi).

Attention：The ticket is only valid for the riding section shown on it, and it is invalidated once you disembark.For example, with the ticket from New Chitose Airport to Otaru, it’s valid only for one time use. If you disembark at Sapporo, the automatic ticket checker will collect your ticket and it will be invalidated.

②IC card “Kitaca”You can use Kitaca between New Chitose Airport/Sapporo - Otaru section.You can quickly get on the train just by tapping the card on the reader of an automatic ticket checker, without lining up in front of an automatic ticket vender.※IC cards that can be used nationwide are applicable.（Suica, PASMO, TOICA, manaca , Icoca, PiTaPa, SUGOCA , nimoca , Hayakaken）.

※Above-mentioned IC cards can also be used on Sapporo’s subway lines, but SAPICA cannot be used on JR lines.

2. Regarding End of Sapporo Otaru Welcome Pass Sales

Entering a ticket checker：After inserting your ticket into the insertion slot of an automatic ticket checker, the gate will open automatically. Please take your ticket after you pass through the gate and keep it well until you reach the destination. ※Once you have lost your ticket, you need to purchase a ticket of your riding section again.

Exiting a ticket checker：Please insert your ticket into the insertion slot of an automatic ticket checker, pass through the gate after it opens automatically. The ticket will be collected by the automatic ticket checker.

Sales will end for the Sapporo-Otaru Welcome Pass, a day ticket set for tourists visiting Japan, which covers Sapporo subway and JR fare between Sapporo city and Otaru. This is due to the increasing popularity of IC cards which can be used on multiple modes of transportation.We sincerely thank you for using the Sapporo Otaru Welcome Pass until now.

Sales will end on March 31, 2017.

For riders going to Otaru, please purchase a ticket at the automatic ticket vending machine or use an IC card.
