The light switch, Figure 4, is located on the right side of the dash panel. Switch positions are as follows:

Push-Pull Switch Type:

• Full in-OFF. • Intermediate-Instrument lights, tail

lights, and accessory lights.

• Full out-Headlights, tail lights, instru­ment lights, and accessory lights.

Rotating Switch Type:

• Straight up-OFF.

• First right-Side and tail lights on.

• Second right-Side, tail, and low beam headlights on.

• Third right-Side, tail, and high beam headlights on.

• Fourth right-High beam headlights on.

FUEL GAUGE The fuel gauge, Figure 5, is located to the left in the instrument cluster. The relationship of the needle to the quarter marks on -the gauge indicates the amount of fuel in the tank.

ENGINE Oil PRESSURE WARNING As soon as the key-starter switch is turned lION", the oil pressure light, Figure 5, will light. When the engine is operating, the light

mended P.T.O. speeds are obtained when the engine speed, as read on the Proof.Meter, is set at the rpm listed in the following chart:

Power Take~Off Shaft: Your Ford Tractor is equipped with a standard lo/s-inch (34.908 mm) diameter P.T.O. shaft for attaching P.T.O.-driven equipment. A .P.T.O. shield, Insert, Figure 22, is available from your Ford Tractor-Equipment Dealer. This shield should be used as a safety precaution and serves as the supporting member for pull-type equip. ment drive line shields in all operations involving P.T.O.­driven equipment.

Transmission P.T.O. Tradors: To operate the tractor P.T.O. shaft at the standard speed of 540 rpm on manual shift

transmission tractors with transmission P.T.O., the engine should be operated at the recommended speed given in the above chart. After determining the recommended engine speed required, proceed as follows:

: Two lubrication fittings are located on the hydraulic pump drive shaft assembly. Refer to the tlLubrication and Maintenance Chart", page 64. Wipe the fittings clean then, using a needle-type nozzle inlet adapter on the grease gun, force in a sufficient amount of good-quality grease (refer to the specifications, page 99) to provide a clean joint.

Warm the engine to operating temperature and then proceed as follows:

1. Remove the engine oil pan sump drain plug, Figure

53, and drain and discard the engine oil.

2. Unscrew the oil fil­ter retaining bolt slowly, Figure 54, catching the used oil in a suitable con­tainer placed below

. the filter body. Re­move the filter body, and discard the filter element, filter body sealing gasket, and retain­

ing bolt gasket.

3. Clean the filter body and install a new filter element. Use a new filter body sealing gasket and retaining bolt gasket, lubricated on all surfaces with clean engine oil. Tighten the retaining bolt securely.
