Preparation

• Departments, faculty, staff clean out files and things that they don’t need to move.

• Space in SR sub-basement is available to get things out of the way (coordinate with you admin assistant)

• Additional recycling totes will be located at strategic places near your offices to allow for easy disposal of materials being cleaned out.

Preparation

• Beginning of August: Ford Hall occupants and admin assistants will receive packing materials for personal items and number stickers.

• Faculty/staff prepares packing of personal items.

• Aug 10 – Smith takes possession of Ford Hall. Admin services can start accessing the building

Preparation

• A moving company will pack and move all items from your offices and labs to Ford Hall

• Books, contents on shelves or in book-cases, computers, equipment, glassware, chemicals, file drawers, hanging pictures, etc.

• Faculty and staff will pack and personally move any items that have special value e.g. irreplaceable personal items whether located in office or lab space.

Sticker System

• General principle - you put a sticker on an item to move and then place the matching number sticker at the exact location in Ford Hall where you want the item

• Put sticker on file drawer in SR and matching file drawer in Ford.

• Put sticker on book shelf in SR and matching shelf in Ford.

First Wave – Offices

• Aug 24 – Ford Hall opens for new Ford Hall occupants.

• Limited occupancy only

• No classes, no seminars, no public meetings, no scheduled meetings or events.

• Week of Aug 24 – Movers come in and move all offices to Ford Hall

Second Wave – Research Labs

• Aug 21: deadline for research labs being shut down and ready for movers to come in

• Late August or early September: Chemical & hazardous materials move (Plan being developed)

• September move of research spaces start and move of equipment starts.

Third Wave – Teaching Labs

• Dec 14 or earlier – Third wave of moves teaching labs; similar process to research labs.

• Hope is that all the labs will be moved before Christmas

Ford Hall Opening – January 25

• Ford Hall opens fully for the campus community.

• Classes, teaching labs, seminars, public meetings, scheduled meetings or events can now take place in Ford Hall

• Full Certificate of Occupancy

• Systems Commissioning – HVAC– Electrical– Vacuum– Air– Green Roof and Graywater– RO water
