Oddný Eir was born in 1972. She studied the Hungarian language in Budapest and then philosophy in Paris, focusing on democracy and archives. She has since worked in the field of museums and arts, collaborating with artists, editing art books, lecturing and curating, as well as fighting for the Icelandic nature and writing.

Steinunn received the Icelandic Literature Prize for the novel A Hearts Place (Hjartastaður, 1995), which was published by AmazonCrossing earliser this year.

Steinunn currently lives in Berlin, and is a very sought after lecturer in Germany. Her book Jojo (Jójó, 2011) was published by rowohlt earlier this year, to great acclaim. The Hamburger Abendblatt chose it one of the 10 best books published in Germany last sprint: “maybe simply the most wonderful book this spring.”
