Haikal celebrated his birthday last Saturday. He invited his relatives and friends to a barbeque at his

house. The barbeque was held in a huge garden. Haikal was very excited. Everyone was having a

good time at the party. They were all talking and laughing. Haikals parents were busy grilling

chicken, lamb sausages and corn over the fire. There were also sandwiches, fried noodles, satay and

drinks on the table. Haikals mother had baked him a birthday cake. It was a big moist chocolate cake

with thirteen candles on it. Everyone enjoyed the delicious cake.

Soon, it was time for Haikal to open all his presents. He took the biggest present and opened it first.

He shouted with joy when he saw a Playstation game set. It was a gift from his uncle. Haikal was

smiling as he opened each present. He got many expensive gadgets, books and clothes.

Finally, he came to the last present. It was a small box wrapped in plain brown paper. He opened it

and saw a small ship creatively made of wood and cloth. Haikal frowned and carelessly pushed it

aside. Suddenly, he heard his friend, Amars voice. Im so sorry for giving you such a small gift. I

spent nearly two weeks making it.

Haikal remembered that Amar came from a poor family. Although Amar could not afford to give an

expensive present, he still made an effort to give him one on his birthday.

Haikal immediately felt ashamed of himself. He hugged Amar and apologised to him for his

behaviour. He took the small ship and looked at it closely. It was actually a beautifully-made ship.

Thank you so much, Amar for this special ship. This is indeed the best gift that Ive ever received,

said Haikal. He learnt a valuable lesson that day.
