Page Keeley is an author and the retired Senior Science Director at the Maine Mathematics and Science Alliance. In the first session, she will train teachers on research-based and practical applications of formative assessment techniques (FACTS) to uncover student thinking and to promote metacognition and student discourse. In the second session, Page will provide mathematics teachers with the same training in their content area. In both sessions, Page will show teachers how to utilize probes to inform and monitor instruction and support reflective thinking. Additionally, teachers will learn how to use formative assessment probes to uncover students’ ideas and use students’ thinking to adjust their classroom instruction. Page is the author of 17 national best-selling books, including Science Formative Assessments: Practical Strategies for Linking Assessment, Instruction, and Learning; and Uncovering Student Ideas in Life Science, Volume 1. REGISTRATION Cost for each session is $100 per participant for Instructional Services Contract Districts; $150 per participant for Region 11 districts; and $200 per participant for non-Region 11 districts.
