HENNA NIGHTTRENDS

Formerly people called the ceremony as ‘henna night’ but now under the great influence of global trends, some people call it ‘bridal shower (hens night)’.Because many things have changed recently because of some global way of celebrating things. It also affects the wedding customs in Turkey to some extend. Let’s have a look at what has changed so far.

PLACE

Usually people organise the ceremony in bride’s house like the old days. But some people prefer to rent hotels, mansions, special saloons etc. for this night.

CLOTHES

Before now brides used to wear a special red dress generally hand-made

sewn ornaments called ‘Bindallı’ (this is traditional Turkish dress for hena night.). Now they wear red evening dress. The

Before now people gloated in a circular shape in the middle of the bride’s hand and also around their fingers. But now they apply interesting forms.

In old days people offered only dried nuts

and fruit in a small bag to their guests. But now

they give cookies, red veils to the young girls,

henna roses to put on the hena gloated hands,

ornaments, drinks etc.

GUESTS

Only women, girls and little boys could join in the ceremony in the past. Now everybody can come.
