“Introducing people to Christ - together becoming completely
committed Christians.”
Issue 1
Installation of Officers &
Soup & Sandwich Lunch
To start the New Year off, I would like to introduce you to a gal and
author who grew up on a farm in Smithville, Ohio. She was in my
husband’s class at Smithville, graduating in 1959. Her name is
Enid Miller Schloneger. Her Book, “The HOLE In My Story” was
just published November 2016. She is a retired nurse, pastor,
and hospice chaplain. She and her husband now reside in
Goshen, Indiana.
This story is very personal to Enid. She was born with a cleft pal-
ate and unable to speak clearly. In this book she shares the emo-
tional anguish of being taunted and rejected as a child and how
those wounds can linger well after physical ones have healed.
She was offered solace by caring teachers, compassionate church
members, loyal friends, a loving family, and a living faith.
This book is easy to read and is an eye-opener to examine yourself on how you react
to someone who is “different” than you are. This book may help you to become sen-
sitive to the feelings and hurts of others. This is a MUST read for all of us!
Enjoy and Happy New Year!
Rachel Krabill, Librarian
Quote: “For you created my inmost being, you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I
praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful. I know
that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place.
Psalm 139:13-15a” NIV
A Note
from
Your
Librarian
to Lois Morrison for bringing it
to my house. I appreciate it
very much. Hilda Flory
Thank you to everyone who
prayed, sent cards, and told us
they were thinking of me when I
had my heart catherization and
stent placement. God answers
prayers and I’m doing fine!
Thank you also, to Pastor Art for
coming to the hospital. God
bless you all for your concern!
Bev Kail

You all have blessed us. Merry
Christmas.

A heart felt thank you to all who
have been praying for me, sent
me cards, visited and or called
me during these long days
since my heart surgery. I have
had several set-backs and have
progressed a lot slower than I
had anticipated. I think I am on
the upside now.
Your love and concern has
encouraged me when the situa-
tion was discouraging. I love
my Smithville Brethren family.
Marilyn Aspinall
On behalf of everyone at Haven
of Rest, I want to sincerely
thank Smithville Brethren
Church for the generous dona-
tion of blankets and hats to be
used by the ministry to help
people in need. Those items
are in great demand right now
by people who cannot afford to
purchase them. Rose Rose
Haven of Rest Ministries
Thank you, Deacon Ministry, for
the fruit basket and candy, and
Lost Dish
Would the persons who took
lasagna to the program on De-
cember 4, please check to see
if my name is on the pink/
lavender baking dish that you
took home.
My carrier is a white Aladdin
Tempreserve. My missing
Pyrex baking dish is a pink lavender 9X13. Your dish is in
the church kitchen. Thanks.

Last month Friends Club met at CAMO headquarters to help sort and count donations for school supplies, dental kits and baby bundles. This month we will continue to help CAMO as we assemble those kits for shipment to Honduras. Join us Sunday, January 15th from 2:00-4:00 pm at the church. After we finish assembling the kits, we will play some fun games and enjoy a snack. Call Jennifer Carr 330-262-3358 or Melissa Underwood 216-387-4802 for more information.

If you have a sewing machine
and some spare time, the Blan-
ket Ministry is in need of assis-
tance in hemming receiving blan-
kets. The serged flannel fabric is
located in the music room on a
table in the rear, in bags marked
with a note that
states “To Be
Hemmed.”
The hem involves
simply turning over
the serged edge and straight-
stitching it in place and the blan-
kets can be returned to the mu-
sic room by mid-May or when
completed.
If you have any questions regard-
ing the project, please contact
Carol Hochstetler 330-682-
6121. Thank you in advance for
your help!
