January 2015 Dear Colleagues, The Directory of State Early Learning Contacts continues to be as useful and relevant as we hoped it would be when we first envisioned a one‐stop resource to connect state leaders in the birth through third grade system. The positive feedback we’ve received from many of you illustrates the Directory’s ability to support increased communication and connections both in state and across state lines. Recognizing that the information in the directory isn’t static, we aim to re‐verify and re‐publish the Direc‐tory twice a year to ensure the information is current. In December 2014, the contacts in each state re‐ceived an e‐mail requesting a review of their state information. Updates were compiled and changes were entered to create this latest iteration of the Directory. If you know of changes or corrections, please forward these to [email protected]. In general, we have limited the contacts to those positions that operate in every, or almost every, state. We’d appreciate any suggestions for additional contacts that should be included for each state, again send along to [email protected]. Finally, we would like to thank all those in the Directory for taking the time to review their information and provide feedback in the midst of their demanding schedules. Go forth and explore!

ABOUT CEELO & CONTACT INFORMATION

One of 22 Comprehensive Centers funded by the U.S. Department of Educa on’s Office of Elementary and Secondary Educa on, the Center on Enhancing Early Learning Outcomes (CEELO) will strengthen the capacity of State Educa on Agencies (SEAs) to lead sustained improvements in early learning opportuni es and outcomes. CEELO will work in partnership with SEAs, state and local early childhood leaders, and other federal and na onal technical assistance (TA) providers to promote innova on and accounta‐bility. Based on the priori es established by the U.S. Department of Educa on, CEELO staff, partners, and experts will work with SEAs and other decision‐makers to achieve the following goals:

Improve states’ knowledge about and use of early childhood comprehensive assessment systems

Enhance the use of assessment data and other informa on to improve program quality

Increase the knowledge and skills of the early learning workforce

Strengthen the alignment of birth through 3rd grade educa onal policies and systems

Increase the coordina on of resources and policies across statewide systems

The U.S. Department of Educa on awarded 22 Comprehensive Centers to increase the capacity of states to help districts and schools meet student achievement goals. Fi een of those will provide training and technical assistance to state educa on agencies (SEAs) to implement and administer programs under the Elementary and Secondary Educa on Act.
