2016 marked our 10th Anniversary at Now I Can Foundation!

We are grateful to celebrate this decade of serving children and their families. We’re humbled to have witnessed many miracles happen in that time. Now I Can thrives because of the generosity of the donors listed in this report, and many others who support us.

Twelve years ago, we took our four-year-old daughter to Poland for intensive physical therapy. We became convinced of the effectiveness of this model of therapy as our daughter left there saying “now I can” about so many new abilities. We never thought this would be the beginning of such a great journey of hope for many, many families.

We’re grateful for the trust of our patients--who inspire us with their courage and hard work. They are such a joy!

Our Now I Can therapy team is an exceptional group of individuals with great integrity, knowledge and love. You can’t help but be touched as you watch them give their whole hearts and all their efforts to helping a child learn a new physical skill. After a 3-week session, there is a special bond between therapists and child.

Our desire is to make sure every child who needs our services is aware that we’re here, and that we’re ready to help them reach their greatest level of independence.

Do you know someone you can tell about Now I Can? Do you know we help children from all over Utah--and all over the United States? We offer free screenings to let families see how we can help their child, and we offer financial help for those whose insurance is insufficient to pay for treatment.

We are always looking for support from the community to help fund our mission, and help more children--please consider yourself invited to join our cause of helping children reach their potential!

Gratefully, Joel and Tracey Christensen

Chloe has come so far since we first saw her. She didn’t move her right arm at all and couldn’t walk without a lot of help... after several sessions this year she is able to walk all over the place without a cane or walker and doesn’t need constant supervision. 5 6

Stephanie is the hardest worker I have ever seen, she does every challenge I put before her. She comes with a smile every day and willingly works to improve.

We worked so hard during the year to get kids “over the hump” by improving mobility. It was amazing towards the end of the year to see these kids at return visits, Christmas party, or just happen to run into them and see how improved they were. The parents, with smile on their face, showing off how their child could now walk or crawl on their own--Mark, PT

Macey was not walking when she started her first session at Now I Can but we could see great potential, now she is walking all over the place.

Art from the Heart 2016Our second annual Art from the Heart was a successful night of art and music. We raised over $7000 for kids to reach their therapy goals. Marvelous Catering Co. prepared a delicious meal for guests to enjoy in the Rock Canyon Room at Zions Bank.

Recording artist Jarrett Burns debuted his new song “My Reality” with proceeds benefiting Now I Can on bandcamp.com. We also heard from piano great and Now I Can patient, Tyson, who plays beautifully and is blind. Thank you to all the artists and guests who supported us!

Sophia is very shy, she barely said one word at the start of therapy. By the end, she was a little chatter box. She learned to stand up while she was at Now I Can.

Budget Report

Now I Can Foundation could never fulfill our mission without our dedicated volunteers!

From cleaning to event planning...from wiping noses to washing windows...from Eagle Scout projects, to graduate level internships... the community support Now I Can receives makes a difference for children every day.

Our therapy aides stand out as some of the kindest and best people around. They help our patients immensely by being enthusiastic friends and cheerleaders during their long hours of therapy. Now I Can therapy is more effective and more fun because of them!

Thank you to every single volunteer, group, and organization that served Now I Can through time and effort in 2016!

Now I Can Foundation is a charitable organization dedicated to helping children reach their full potential.

Now I Can was founded in 2006 by the parents of a child with special needs. The Christensen's wanted other families to be able to experience results through the intensive model of physical therapy--and to have financial help paying for it, if needed.

10 years later, Now I Can has served hundreds of children from all over the country, helping them to reach goals of sitting, standing and walking and becoming more independent.

Please visit nowican.org to donate and get involved in changing the life of a child.
