‘Being a disciple web series’ – January is a time when we try and work at
being a better person, why not explore how we can be a grow as a
disciple of Jesus? On the 4 Thursdays of January at 7pm we will explore a
different aspect of what it means to be a Catholic disciple with Brendan
Thompson the CEO of Catholic Voices in a web series on Zoom. Catholic
Voices are an international organisation that shares the Good News in
the global media. Contact Deacon Seamus if you are interested and he
will send you the Zoom link to register.
Following on from this on February 4th at 7pm we would like to start an
Epiphany Group that would look at ways that we can be more effective in
evangelisation, helping people encounter Jesus and all of us grow in
being disciples. This will also be by Zoom. Contact Deacon Seamus if you
are interested in being part of this.

O little town of Bethlehem,
how still we see thee lie
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep
The silent stars go by
Yet in thy dark streets shineth
The everlasting Light
The hopes and fears of all the years
Are met in thee tonight
For Christ is born of Mary
And gathered all above
While mortals sleep, the angels keep
Their watch of wondering love
O morning stars together
Proclaim the holy birth
And praises sing to God the King
And Peace to men on earth
Hymns for Sunday Mass O come, O come, Emmanuel, And ransom captive Israel, That mourns in lonely exile here, Until the Son of God appear. Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel Shall come to thee, O Israel. O come, Thou Rod of Jesse, free Thine own from Satan's tyranny; From depths of hell Thy people save, And give them victory o'er the grave. O come, Thou Dayspring, from on high, And cheer us by Thy drawing nigh; Disperse the gloomy clouds of night, And death's dark shadows put to flight. O come, Thou Key of David, come And open wide our heav'nly home; Make safe the way that leads on high, And close the path to misery. O come, Adonai, Lord of might, Who to Thy tribes, on Sinai's height, In ancient times didst give the law In cloud and majesty and awe. The Angel Gabriel from heaven came, His wings as drifted snow, His eyes as flame; ‘All hail’, said he, ‘thou lowly maiden Mary, Most highly favoured lady,’ Gloria! ‘For known a blessèd Mother thou shalt be, All generations laud and honour thee, Thy son shall be Immanuel, by seers foretold; Most highly favoured lady.’ Gloria! Then gentle Mary meekly bowed her head, ‘To me be as it pleaseth God’ she said, ‘My soul shall laud and magnify his holy name’: Most highly favoured lady.’ Gloria! Of her, Immanuel, the Christ was born In Bethlehem, all on a Christmas morn, And Christian folk throughout the world will ever say ‘Most highly favoured lady.’ Gloria!
How silently, how silently
The wondrous gift is given!
So God imparts to human hearts
The blessings of His heaven.
No ear may hear His coming,
But in this world of sin,
Where meek souls will receive him still,
The dear Christ enters in.
O holy Child of Bethlehem
Descend to us, we pray
Cast out our sin and enter in
Be born to us today
We hear the Christmas angels
The great glad tidings tell
O come to us, abide with us
Our Lord Emmanuel
