Summary of Parish Council Minutes for March 12, 2019 Meeting

1. Opening prayer – Fr. Stewart led the opening prayer.

2. Roll call – present: Judy Pounds, Judy Nugent, Debbie Augusta, Darlyne Devaney, Karen Hecker, Tina Starling. Excused: Piedad Sarmiento – Noriega, Teresa Torres, Maureen Cool. Absent: Jim McGann, John Wolbert, J.P. Heston. Also Present: Betty Partridge, Finance chair; Leah Grecko, Cursillo.

3. Approval of Minutes – Karen Hecker moved, 2nd Tina Starling, unanimous.

4. Old Business: ➢ President’s Report – Judy Pounds informed Council that 2 members resigned; 6 members term our December 31, 2019. She thanked Fr. Leo for being major sponsor for annual scholarship golf tournament. ➢ Finance Report: Betty Partridge, chair, will give 3rd quarter report May 14. 2019 CFA goal is $117,000; $37,790 pledged to date. Investment account is $1,529,990 to date. Stock market is doing well. ➢ Religious Education – 28 members at all-day Confirmation Retreat, February 9, in Grogan Center. Travis & Dawn Crosson, John Paul & Sarah Heston, and Dr. Mark Sevigny commended for facilitating the retreat. Judy Pounds took photos and Mike and Angie Heiring provided lunch. Confirmation October 21. All classes will receive Safe Environment training with report going to DOV.

Family Mass is the 1st Sunday of the month. Fr. Claudio’s homily commended 54 students for 1st Communion May 5th. ➢ Building & Grounds – Dennis Kellner reported Grogan Center roof repaired. He recommended renewing Edgewood Lawn Landscaping grounds contract. ➢ Technology & Communications – Judy Pounds reported website always being updated. Ministry chairs encouraged to advertise events on Website. ➢ Community Life – Karen Hecker, chair, reported that the Church Service Center served 361 families in December; 430 in January; 374 in February, with 12,000 pounds of food over the 3 months. Meals on Wheels serves 450 meals each month. K of C sponsored a dinner for widows and widowers January 12. Presented a Living Rosary in Church on Anniversary of Roe V Wade. Held Tootsie Role Drive outside of Church for ARC of Highlands County. ➢ Hispanic Ministry – Fr. Stewart noted Hispanic Day of Recollection in Grogan Center on April 6. Sister Providencia available after 4 p.m. Mass on Saturdays. ➢ Women’s Guild – Successful year with 100 active members. Voted to sponsor a hole in OLG Scholarship Golf Tournament. Women’s Retreat March 16th. ➢ Social Ministry – Elrie Myers reported successful Valentine dinner-dance. ➢ Adjournment & Closing Prayer – Fr. Leo. ➢ Next meeting: May 22nd, Parish Council meeting, Grogan Center, 6 p.m.

OLG H.S. Graduates Mass, May 19, 10:30 a.m.

We invite OLG area High School Graduates, their families and friends, to a special Graduates Mass at Our Lady of Grace on Sunday, May 19, at 10:30 a.m., and to brunch immediately afterwards in the Grogan Center.

It is important that graduates call the parish office to let us know how many will be in their party so that we can prepare for the Mass and brunch afterwards. Call 453-4757. Dennis Kellner, chairman of OLG Parish Golf-Scholarship Tournament, will present the scholarship awards at the Graduates Mass Angie Heiring will award Age appropriate Bibles to the graduates
