Before I Was A Mom
Before I was a Mom– I made and ate hot meals. I had unstained clothing. I had quiet talks on the phone. Before I was a Mom– I slept as late as I wanted and never worried about how late I got into bed. I brushed my hair and my teeth every day. Before I was a Mom– I didn’t worry whether or not my plants were poisonous. I never thought about immunizations. Before I was a Mom– I had never been puked on, wet on, spit on, chewed on or pinched by tiny fingers. Before I was a Mom– I had complete control over my thoughts, my body, my mind. I slept all night. Before I was a Mom– I never held down a screaming child so that doctors could do tests, or give shots. I never looked into teary eyes and cried. I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin. I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep. Before I was a Mom– I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn’t want to put it down. I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I could not stop the hurt. I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much. I never knew that I could love someone so much. I never knew I would love being a Mom. Before I was a Mom– I didn’t know the feeling of having my heart outside my body. I didn’t know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby. I didn’t know that bond between a Mother and her child. I didn’t know that something so small could make me feel so important. Before I was a Mom– I had never gotten up every ten minutes, in the middle of the night, to make sure that all was ok. I had never know the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderfulness, or the satisfaction of being a Mom. I didn’t know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom. Homebound & Nursing Home Ministry St, Frances Cabrini Church has an active Homebound and Nursing Home Ministry. Extraordinary Ministers visit our Parish members who are unable to attend Mass due to illness or physical incapacities bringing them the Eucharist on a weekly basis. If you or you know of a parishioner who is unable to attend Mass due to illness please call the church office to notify the Home-bound Ministry. This can be for a short illness, recovering from surgery or for long term. If you or you know of a parishioner who has been admitted to a nursing home or rehab or for long term please call the office to notify the Homebound Ministry.

The word “beatitude” is derived from the Latin word ‘beatus’ (meaning ‘blessed’). Attitude is defined as a manner of thinking, feeling, or behaving that reflects a state of mind or disposition. The Beatitudes calls each of us living in the world to imitate Christ, transforming the ordinary Christian into a saint. They exemplify simplicity, truth and beauty in moral theology. We know for sure that it is possible to live by them and put them into practice. God never asks the impossible from any of us. We do need God’s grace and just plain human will-ingness to abide by them. Faithful Catholics should memorize the Beatitudes and consider them often.
THE EIGHT BEATITUDES OF JESUS
1)Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 2)Blessed are they who mourn, for they shall be comforted. 3)Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit thee earth. 4)Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. 5)Blessed are the merciful, for they shall ob-tain mercy. 6)Blessed are the pure of heart, for they shall see God. 7)Blessed are the peace makers, for they shall be called children of God. 8)Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
