Baptisms: Celebrated on the first Sunday of the month at 12:30 or 3:00pm. Parents should call the rectory at least four weeks in advance, and must attend instructions, which are held on the third Thursday of the month. Church Law requires that only Catholics in good standing are eligible to be Godparents. No Baptisms will be scheduled during Lent. Anointing of the Sick: We offer this sacrament to those who are seriously ill, at home or in the hospital. We urge you to contact the office before someone goes to the hospital for an operation. (A priest may not be available later) Ministry of the Sick: Holy Communion will be brought to the sick, upon request. The bedridden or chronically ill can be placed on the “Eucharistic Ministers” visitation schedule. Wedding: Engaged couples must make arrangements in person, at the office at least six months in advance. Parish Membership: We welcome all new members to our parish. Please register at the office, by phone or in person. Registration forms are available at the entrances to the Churches. HOLY WEEK SCHEDULE: See the insert in the Bulletin REFLECTION FOR THE WEEK: “Don’t be afraid Mary” Luke 1:30 Texting is new to me, but I’m learning the acronyms. BFF: Best Friend Forever, or LOL: Laugh Out Loud. In honor of Mary, I’ve come up with an acronym to help turn painful, fearful, or troublesome situations around -TGIF: Take God Inside First. Mary did. TGIF encapsulates a life centered upon God, a life that says, I’m going to take God inside first; everything else in my life will be secondary.” When life throws a curve ball – bad news from the doctor, a broken relationship, a pile of unpaid bills, a sudden death – make sure God’s on speed dial. Turn it over to him, share your feelings, and don’t hold back. Then patiently wait as he pulls all the pieces together. Be prepared for the doors God is going to open. Even when life’s tough, TGIF: Take God Inside First. Invite him in. He’ll pick up the pieces and use them to make something beautiful. Say: Jesus, come inside my life. I won’t hold anything back, and I’ll turn it all over to you. I promise. Amen.

FOURTH SUNDAY OF LENT

First Reading: Samuel 16:1b, 6-7, 10-13a In seeking a King for the Israelites, Samuel traveled to Jesse of Bethlehem, who had seven sons. Commanded by God to ignore the elder sons, Samuel anointed the youngest, David. Second Reading: Romans Ephesians 5:8-14 Paul exhorts the Ephesians to live as “children of light” in goodness and truth and to avoid evil deeds “done in darkness.” Gospel: John 9:1-41 Jesus performs the miracle of giving sight to the man born blind. Because Jesus performed this miracle on the Sabbath, the Pharisees called him a “sinner,” but the blind man said, “He is a prophet.” Jesus later reveals to the blind man that He is the Son of Man.
