As the Marketing and Promotions Director of POWER 95 .3 as well as STAR 94 .5, Vanessa Roman plays a vital role in the way

the stations are run on from day to day . With a plethora of responsibilities ranging from managing the street team, dealing with sponsors, and managing give-aways, Vanessa does it all with a calm, cool, and collected persona .

How long have you been employed with 95.3? 4 years now .

Was this your original role with the company? If not then what was your original role and how did you progress to where you are today?I began as a Program Coordinator, then I became Marketing Director about 1 ½ years in . Now I am Marketing Director for Power 95 .3 as well as Star 94 .5 .

What experiences have you had prior to 95.3 that have helped you get to your current status as Marketing and Promotions Director?I have 15 years of Marketing, Publishing, Commercial Film work, and Independent Film experience . My niche has always been Hispanic-Americans, specifically the Hip-Hop culture . The bulk of Latino’s that live in the country were born here and probably grew up listening to Hip-Hop which has always been my passion . I was the coordination producer for an independent film about the Civil Rights Movement for Latino’s titled PALANTE SIEMPRE PALANTE: The Young Lords . I was also founder and marketing director for “Urban Latino” which was the first magazine written in English catering to Spanish people .

How have you contributed to the rapid growth of 95.3 throughout the past few years?I think the Promotions Department has become a lot more active . The caliber of the Promo Team has also increased and they have a passion for music . The growth of the city has also contributed . All of these factors have really contributed to the growth of the station as a whole .

What separates 95.3 from its competitors?Musically I feel we are close, but I think we are probably the most diverse .

We have an equal share of the demographic as far as our listeners, 33% Latin, 33% White, 33% African American . Our target demo is Hispanic females but we cater to all demographics .

I see there is a lot of Latin influence throughout Power 95.3. Is the Latin community your target market?I don’t think its right in your face like a Latin station, but we are definitely catering to that demographic which is the fasted growing population in the country . We do play reggaeton which other stations don’t; again it’s not in your face .

How instrumental are the Power Playaz to your promotions and marketing strategy?I think the Power Playaz are very important, they are the face of the station on the streets . The Power Playaz are closer to the people out there who listen to the station and they reflect the interests of our listeners, therefore increasing the relations between our listeners and us .

Is there anything else you would like our readers to know about 95.3 or yourself that we have not touched on?I would just like everyone to know that we (95 .3) are a growing station that really reflects our community . We do at least 2 community events on a weekly basis usually at a school dealing with multiple topics ranging from Drug Prevention to Stopping Violence . I would like to let the community know that if you are having a community event don’t be afraid to contact us . Invite us and we’ll be there!

H OLLYWOOD KRACK, Originally from Clermont, FL, has been on his grind for the past four years assembling his entertainment company and paving his

way across Central Florida . He's made the transition from the school books to the studio, developing young, up and coming artists to a team and family that is hungry for suc-cess . He has now expanded his entertainment company by owning his own studio in Clermont, where they also possess their own in-house production team . I was able to catch up with him for a few to express his morals and ideas for the future of New Dirty Entertainment .

Krack, how's life, man?Life is good!! Blessed to see another day .

How long have you been in the music industry?I got into the industry around 2005, so roughly four years

now . I went to school at the Institute of Recording Sound and Technology here in Orlando . I obtained degrees in certified Audio Engineering and Music Business .Who are some of your major influences in and out of the industry?

Personally, I like all different types of music and I really look at people's worth ethic and how hungry they are . However, to name a few, I like Jay-Z, T .I ., 50-Cent, Diddy, Akon, Mary J ., Mariah Carey, Justin Timberlake, Busta Rhymes, and many more .What made you pursue a career in the music industry and how did you come into owning a record label?

I grew up around music and always had a passion for the art of music . I loved the artists that were out at the time

I was growing up . I had a couple of friends who grew up trying to do music but weren't serious about the pursuit of the career . I love music from the instruments to the vocals and I really stuck with it and took it seriously . My father was a successful business man so I wanted to fol-low his path and work with successful people . I grew up humble and I was hungry and I wanted to find other peo-ple who were hungry as well . The entertainment business is serious but we all at our label are like a family when one person eats everybody eats .What do you have in store to expand your company's horizon?

World-wide, we are getting singles lined up for indepen-dent artists and distribute our music across the nation . I am trying to be a make New Dirty, the Grand Hustle of Florida and the next major player in the industry .Are u planning anything in the near future to market your entertain-ment company?

We have a single right now called "Infactuated" from our independent artist Bedo, which will actually be exclusively released at the 2009 Orlando Hip Hop Awards . Also "Wanna Getaway" from the 3-5-2 Boyz featuring Eliseo of Treal . Which we are trying to push on the radio and airways all over . Who has really helped you stay focused on the music industry and keep striving to make New Dirty Entertainment a household name?

Mostly everyone that I have ever worked with I have learn something from . Atlanta, from Grand Hustle we worked

with a couple of artists from their camp, to my indepen-dent artists and producers out of New Dirty . From K-Lion for teaching and helping me in the correct way of running a successful entertainment company and Bedo for his hard work ethnic, honestly, and loyalty . My father and mother help me all the time . If it wasn't for my family, I wouldn't be the successful business man that I am today .Do you have any tips or can you offer some advice to up and coming local artists or teens who would like to pursue a career in the music industry?

Work, Work, Work! I would tell them to not rush any proj-ects and to just master their work . They should take their time and make sure everything is correct from the vocals, to production, and most important, your paperwork . I would also recommend them to try to aim mainstream for the ra-dio or airways . They should have their main focus on the big-ger picture, which is nation and eventually worldwide .

How has the community/city embraced your company?My original foundation is from Lake County recently the

last three-four years we have broke into Orlando mostly West Orange County . The streets here love us and are always asking about the music and the artists . The fans see the shirts and trucks everywhere around town . We are pushing independent artists Bedo, 3-5-2 Boyz, Kool-Whip, Danga Montana, Tryple T, A .B .K ., and many more coming soon .

I also own and run Xclusive Sound studios in Clermont, FL . We offer studio recording time for $35/hr or $50/hr with mixing . Plus we have an in-house production team with Smoke-Tricks, Master Mind Beat-Boyz, Jynx, Mista Mally, and DJ Threat . B EDO, is a well known artist coming out of Kissimmee, FL . He has been on the scene for five years lacing

tracks with some of the hottest entertainers in the game today . He is ready to take his game to the next level and become one of those big household names that everyone in the streets knows . I was able to chop it up with him while he is getting ready for his upcom-ing performance at the Orlando Hip Hop Awards and his new street al-bum which is about to drop called "Welcome To The Movies" .

Bedo, what's good with you homie?Just chilling, homie . Working on this new mixtape and

my new hit single that's 'bout to drop soon . I'm getting ready for the Orlando Hip Hop Awards on the 29th, so I hope to see everybody out there .How long have you been in the rap game?

I've been rapping for close to five years now .Is there a certain rapper who your rap style mimics, or how would you characterize your flow?

I have an orthodox flow . I have my own style . I really don't mimic or follow anybody else's flow .When does your new mixtape Hurtin B4 Havin Drop?

I'm trying to shoot now for the end of September . It's really gonna be a street album moreover than a mixtape . I actually changed the name of it to "Welcome To The Movies" .Are u planning a tour or some type of appearance to promote your music?

I'm dropping a single right now called "Infatuated" fea-turing Terrence Noble and produced by DJ Kirk . It's an international pop song basically which I'm trying to push hard in the streets . We are trying to get some big name artists for the remix . Everybody needs to keep their ear out for it cause it will be something special .How can you be contacted outside of your shows?

compete and reach their status of success . Some big names I worked with were DJ Khaled, Young Buck, Neyo, Bloodraw, Chingy, The Runners, Nasty Beat Makers, JT Money and some others . I don't wanna leave anybody

out; I have so much love for all of them .Do you have any other comments you will like to share with your fans and the readers?

The heat is reaching record highs during our summer nights in the streets, yet it doesn’t keep the people from coming out to party. We are all looking for

the next hottest party to attend, or perhaps a party that already exists, that we are just not sure about. I have these dilemmas on a nightly basis, believe it or not. This week, I decided to try something new & old. I stepped into venues I never thought I would, and had a great time in doing so! I learned sometimes you just have to go in before you can say you’ll never! But lucky for you! You got Starlet to do all your dirty work for you!

Friday Nights @ Tabu

Tabu is, without a doubt, one of the largest & most

popular venues in Orlando. On a Friday night, they are sure to show you how many people they can fit in a party! I have to give it up to DJ Prostyle for this one. With so many other things to do on a Friday night, he still has the capabilities to pack out a 1000+ occupancy filled venue…on a weekly basis! Unbelievable! Maybe it’s the excitement of seeing him on TV for “Freestyle Fridays” on 106 & Park earlier in the day, and then being able to party with him later that night that makes the crowd come out in droves. This crowd is amped & LOVES to party! From Hip Hop, to Reggaeton, all the way to old school & some classic rock-this crowd goes in! Standing from the second level looking down, I had to remind myself that it wasn’t even a holiday! There were some drink specials earlier in the night, but I arrived too late for them. Not sure who the opening DJ was, but when Prostyle stepped onto the stage, the crowd went Honey Baked Ham! Talk about the “livest” audience in the country! 106 & Park has NOTHING on Tabu on a Friday night!

Let me start off with saying THANK GOD! Finally! A promoter who’s challenging the night life scene! It looks

like DJ Nasty & DJ Chino has caught wind of this “live musical performance” fascination that is starting to brew in the streets. They introduced the Nasty Beat Makers Band a couple a weeks ago at the July edition of “1st Tuesdays," and you could tell the crowd was really feeling it. The band played along with the DJ, and this created a totally different vibe for the party. It was more “grown up” and swagful, if you will. So when I was invited out to Antigua on a Thursday night, I was relieved to witness the funk. Adding a live band to the party only invigorates the crowd. Who wouldn’t want to hear live drums over “Wasted” by Gucci Man? Or hear live bass being played over “Break Up” by Mario? You’d be amazed how fantastic a live band can make a party! I highly suggest you join them, along with Voice of the Streets, each and every Thursday night! They’ll treat you to free cover & free drinks from 10pm-12am.

Believe me when I say you can always find something new & different to do here in our night scene streets. Take time and re-visit those venues you use to hang hard at. Step into that new spot you heard someone talking about. Peep into the scene where you hear live music blaring out of. Go out and enjoy what Orlando’s streets have to offer you. Miss O..!!: How did you get into photography?RitaRi: I actually got my first camera as a gift and I started clicking away not really knowing what I was doing. It wasn’t until I went on a cruise where the desire to start on my journey flourished. If I had to thank any photographers that helped me on my journey I would have to thank Edz from Edz Photography, he took me by the hand and taught me how to use my camera; surpris-ingly, he never got tired of me. The other is MarQuest whose drive has taken him to the next level; he inspires me not to give up on my dream. He has given me such great advice on why I shouldn’t give up and why I need to become the best in anything I decide to do. Thank you guys!! Love you both!Miss O..!!: Do you feel that digital photography has taken away from the art of film? Or do you feel it has enhanced it?RitaRi: I think it has enhanced photography, but it takes away from actually learning your camera and can make some photographers lazy. I have a lot of respect for veteran photographers who started out and continue to use film. With film there’s an art in taking a picture, you needed to learn the correct settings and lighting to choose or else your picture will not come out correctly. RitaRi: First that I’m a female, there's only a few of us out there that are really good. This I believe gives me an advantage because I know how to capture not only the sexy side of a male but enhance the sexiness of a female. My female models, I find become really comfortable with me. Most of the time they always tell me that I'm the first female photographer they've shot with.Miss O..!!: If you had the opportunity to study with any photographer who would it be and why?RitaRi: There are actually two photographers that I would love to shadow and watch their creativity come alive. One would be Maya Guez, first she's a female, and secondly she's full of creativity. Her portfolio is full of color and so many fun filled ideas. She cap-tures the sexy side of men and women and then she adds her creativity into every picture. You will never see a mediocre picture in her portfolio. Each picture has a story behind it. The second photographer would be Markus Klinko; he's a well known photographer, whose images are sharp and like Maya Guez full of creativity. He's taken pictures of famous celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce, and Britney Spears. Now that is the status I would love to reach one day, it will take a lot of work.Miss O..!!: Do you prefer on-location or in-studio photo shoots?RitaRi: I prefer on location shooting, because you see nature in your pictures. The colors that you can capture are amazing, it gives more life to the image you are try-ing to capture.Miss O..!!: Some photographers work with a team of individuals to get that SHOT. Do you feel that's an over kill at photo shoots or a necessity?RitaRi: I think that it's a big necessity, especially that one person who helps the model pose. I'm the pho-tographer; I can miss a shot while I’m trying to direct a model. Take “America's Next Top Model”, as an example, the photographers work with a team of peo-ple to make the perfect shot happen. That would be a dream come true to have my own team on all of my photo shoots. Just like how Nigel Barker once said on America's Next Top Model, "As a photographer you should make me chase you, NOT LEAD you!"Miss O..!! Do you go into photo shoots with a plan of action, or do you tend to just go with the flow?RitaRi: I always tend to go into a photo shoot prepared, but anything can happen or change at any moment. You always need a backup plan in case of bad weather, inex-perienced models, lighting, etc. As a creative person nothing is ever as concrete as you planned it, sometimes half-way through the photo shoot, ideas and or location can change. At the end, I always want my photo shoots to be filled with a lot of fun for all who are involved; which makes me happy.

I f you ever found yourself, in a deep thought sprawled in the back of your most fondest imagination in regards to

the ongoing battle of hip-hop music, R&B, Reggae and other genres of music, and why one specific sound and art form of music is more popular or appealing to the masses than the other; then ponder no more this distinction is found in reggae newcomer ATIBA.

The phenomenon of reggae singers bell-ing out such blunt, "in your face lyrics" over a sultry beat has been intimidating to the hip hop world for years, and with innova-tive, ground breaking artist such as ATIBA branding the new face of music, dance-hall reggae is destined to be stronger than ever.

Sl ip -N- Sl ide Records recording artist ATIBA is truly the new sound of "Dancehall" with a fusion of hip-hop, reggae, R&B/soul mix, breathing fresh air back into the reggae music scene. Born in Brooklyn, NY, and relocated with family to Jamaica at the age of 5, the young singer states that his father was extremely musicaly inclined and has vivid memories of music as an art form always being present in his child-hood. ATIBA came back to the states at the age of 15, with a passion for music and firm background on what it takes to create that "star power essence, ATIBA and his family forged ahead made Orlando their home in search of a more constant and promising future in the music industry.

"My Father tried his hands in all sorts of occupations to support the family. One of his greatest was creating a sound system called, "Love Vibration Disco," headed by DJ Rudolf; it quickly became one of the top sound systems in Jamaica. He cut the first songs that Beenie Man had ever recorded

and introduced him to the industry. Music was always around. Some of the greatest artists to come out of Jamaica were at my house on a constant basis."

ATIBA was involved in reggae dancehall music from a very young age. "I sang in a four part harmony group called 'Fate' and then started a group with my sister, Malica, and friend Francisco, it was called, 'Three The Hard Way.' A year after that I was signed to super producer Rodney Jerkins record label, Darkchild Records."

ATIBA quickly became a hot commodity among others in the industry and is noted

for his works with R&B sen-sation Ray J on hit single entitled "If I Had One Wish". The inventive singer has also been featured in nation-wide publications including Ozone Magazine, and has performed on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, along-side Patti Labelle, Mary Mary, George Clinton, Be Be Winans and more.

ATIBA is hardly an unknown musical figure and

is taking on new musical projects and mark-ing new territory with plans to continue to leave his everlasting score in the foot-prints of great reggae musicians before him. Drawing inspiration from legendary singers such as, Lauryn Hill, Bob Marley, Sam Cooke and more, ATIBA is destined for quick suc-cess in the industry.

Those who are heavily involved in the industry might be able to tell you a little bit about Papa Duck. But really,

who is he? Those who pay attention to our local DJ music conferences, or those who attend local

artist’s shows may be able to say they’ve heard of him before. But really, what can they say? We’ve seen his mixtapes, we’ve seen his promotional wrapped vehicles, we’ve seen his entourage. But when those unforgettable

words “My nigga you pie…” featured on Bali’s latest single “I Don’t Give a Fu#k” , it got the

streets buzzing, “who really is Papa Duck?”.

You have been in the industry for some time now and I read that you have been writing and producing since about 1995. Tell me about your journey. How did you get involved in the rap game?I started off playing basketball in high school real heavy . But the music thing is really what I wanted to do so I quit basketball my senior year to focus on music . But I really didn’t start getting serious about rapping until probably like 4-5 years ago . Before, we were just doing it to do it -it wasn’t that serious to me . But it came a point where you gotta pay the bills, so I decided to focus on what I was good at . I’ve been in the game for about 13 years now .

Papa Duck is quite an interesting name. Where did you get it?My uncle gave me that name cause I guess I reminded him of an infamous president of Haiti back in the day named Papa Doc…”duck” in English . He was a ruth-less ruler; anybody that knows the Haitian background knows how he was not someone to mess with . I guess I sort of reminded my uncle of him when I was younger in how I use to behave .

Are you signed to any label?I’m independently with Big Spendas Entertainment, and we got our own label Little Rock Dog Records . With my private label, we are now in negotiations with Warner, Def Jam, & Universal . Right now, it’s looking like Universal is winning the race, so maybe Universal… .not sure yet .

You’ve been featured on a couple of records that has made it to radio. Tell me about some of those.We did a record with Vibez Kartel, a big Jamaican artist that did really well on the radio . I did a record with Jr Reid that did real, real good . “Look at My Swag” with Rick Ross & Ace Hood on the remix . I did “Money All Around” with Mannie Fresh that did real good on the radio . Now, “I Don’t Give a Fu#k” with Bali & Ace Hood which is spin-ning heavy now on the radio . Also, I had a track with Trina “Good Nookie” was crazy on the radio at one point .

Tell me more about Big Spendas Entertainment. Who makes up this company, and what projects do you have in the works?Big Spendas Ent is actually an independent label based out of Miami . Bigga Rankins is the president of the label . Beside me, there is one other artist, Rarebreed, under Big Spendas Ent . But under my own independent label, Little Rock Dog Records, I got Lost Child & Deebo . Lost Child is coming out with “Nothing to Lose” shortly, but first we are going to put out a mixtape with all three of us on it to in-troduce my artists to the streets . That will be out real soon .

I know you produced the intro track on Plies “Real Testament”. Tell me about other projects you produced?I did stuff with 3 6 Mafia, but most known for numerous of underground artists from all over .

Explain to me how the streets know all about you and support your move-ment, yet you appear to fly low on the radar for the mainstream industry.The streets know who I am; they always fed me . But I’m not good with that politic shit . I’m not good with that kissing ass & hanging out with you for 30 days for you to work with me . I ain’t good with that . All that did was make me channel all that energy towards the streets .

How would you describe your style of music? What makes it different from all the other artists in the game?I just keep it real . I feel like stuff I talk about in a record, other artists are scared or wont to talk about . I don’t just write a record, I use a strategy . I research a little bit so I can be more articulate on it . Ill study a topic, and put it in a record . Like if we doing a record on women, I’ll research what type of perfume they wear, the hottest clothes/shoes; I’ll study all that shit & put it in a record…and make it blossom .

Your album back in 2005 “Welcome to My Hood” sold about 10,000 units…by you and your team. Tell me about this strategy.I focus my strategies on attacking the small cities . Like in Florida, you got Miami, Ft . Lauderdale, Orlando, Tallahas-see, Tampa…we stay away from these cities . We attack all the surrounding cities around these areas and burn from the outside in . It takes more money to do big cities, but you make more off the smaller cities . The smaller cities won’t get the Jeezy, Gucci, or bigger named artists . This is where I come in, I hold the smaller cities down . Dominate and build the buzz in the smaller markets, then the bigger ones will demand for you .

Tell me about some artists you have worked with in the past.I’ve worked with so many artists over the years . One of my favorites to work with is Triple J, out of West Palm Beach . He’s been in the game for some time now . One of my favorite producers to work with, Jvon On da Beat, he’s out of Ft . Pierce . He produced “Cocaine Money” for Gucci Man . But Mannie Fresh…yea, I really enjoyed working with him . He had me in the studio with T .I ., and that dude is a real stand up dude . T .I . was on top of making sure we were always good .

What projects are you working on now?I have “The Streets Is Mine” album coming out real soon, look for that mixtape in the street right now . We got

both Lost Child & Deebo’s album coming out, but first we gonna push our mixtape . Launching a clothing line for ladies called Mama Duck Clothing & Apparel . I got a DVD coming out called “The Duckumentary Vol 1”, which is just basically the day in the life of Papa Duck . From the time I wake up in the morning to when I fall asleep at night . You’re going to see everything ; the good the bad…everything .

How did the Mama Duck Clothing line idea start?Well it came from performing at all these shows, and see-ing how the ladies were really representing Papa Duck . Girls were showing us their tattoos with “Papa Duck” on their bodies, they had it written on their clothes . Hearing the ladies scream “I want to be your Mama Duck” is what really got it started . Who’s on your I-pod?I listen to that old rap music . I love Dead Prez . I listen to Goodie Mob, Outkast, that whole Suave House: Mr . Mike, 8 Ball & MJG . Bones-n-Thugz . Rap like that . Music today is for niggas who pop pills & stuff; it don’t have any meaning to it .

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?I admire niggas like Ice Cube, Dr . Dre, Snoop, Master P, Jay Z…cause they really capitalized off their situation . It wasn’t nothing like they just did the music and that was it . Like with the whole NWA clique, only Cube & Dre really made the best of that situation . So that goes to show you that the music is just the door opener . We plan to go all in on anything that makes sense . You never know…we might end up selling diapers with our logo on it!

And we would call them “Baby Duck Pampers”…LOL…I’d want my cut, Papa Duck!

Asylum? PoeBoy? SlipNSlide? These are a few of the labels rapper/singer/songwriter, Elsha is negoti-ating a record deal with. Why so

much interest in this artist? It's very rare to find a bilingual musician who can sing and rap in both English and Spanish. Equipped with his lawyer, Angie Martinez whose great-est success to date has been in the careers of Plies and Pitbull, Elsha is sure to make the best career decision.

Growing up half Dominican and Puerto Rican, Elsha was surrounded by Latin music and culture. He infused this culture into his music and created songs like “Eres Bella” where Elsha sings a Spanish Ballad about a beautiful woman. "Dale Pow Pow" is a Reggaeton collaboration with friend and artist Black Labol. "I have some Bachata songs I am working on. I am always trying to do something new. I listen to many differ-ent types of music and I have even written and recorded a rock song. I want to show the world what I am capable of!” Elsha says with a smile.

Using his culture, his experiences, and his love of all types of music, Elsha is generating a new sound in the music industry. A combination of Latin, Hip Hop, R&B, and Pop, his sound reaches a vast audi-ence as is evident by his diverse fan base. His latest sin-gle, “Ohh Sexy Girl” is a combination of Hip Hop, and Pop that is heating up the Central Florida club scene.

With over 100 DJs playing the record, "Ohh Sexy Girl" is becoming a regional success and is scheduled to hit the airways soon. In June, Elsha debuted the highly antici-pated music video for this single and already has over 100,000 views on Myspace Videos. "Ohh Sexy Girl" is featured at #13 on Music Vids on Demand alongside artists Colby ODonnis, and Sean Kingston's videos. He's #2 on StartMySong.com. This recent recognition along with over half a million views on Myspace is accredited to a strong in house viral campaign.

Elsha is continuously in the studio perfecting his craft. Testing new concepts and merging music genres, he has created some really hot new tracks that he is eager to release to his fans. When asked which of his songs is his favorite, he answers "The one that I am working on now!"

A few days after I wrote my last article (where I asked for answers about Michael Vick’s status) it was announced that he would be moving to the

city of Brotherly Love. I hope they show him some love there. After all it was the Philly fans that booed and threw snowballs at Santa Claus at a game back in the 1960’s. I must admit though I don’t know how comfortable I am with Michael Vick being the second string QB. The Eagles claim they plan on keeping him as the back-up, but like I’ve said previously, this is a business. All I’m going to say about that is watch out McNabb. Michael Vick may feel lucky to even be playing again, but no one WANTS to be second string. Don’t let Vick’s first snap be your last. This may actually be some healthy competition. I will be tuning in. Speaking of which, I need a friend who has an NFL League Pass. I promise I’ll bring the beer.

In other news, Detroit won a game…YAY for them. I’m not excited though because it’s only preseason. Tom Brady played most of the first half in the Patriots first pre-season game against the Eagles. He looked good, minus that interception. I’m definitely rooting for Tom Brady and the Patriots to pull a Usain Bolt on the league and leave everyone in their dust trying to catch up. Now you know I would be doing an injustice by not mentioning that Usain Bolt beat his own World Record at the World Championships. Bolt ran a 9.58 in the 100m. Tyson Gay who came in second was .11 seconds behind him.

HigHligHtCentral Florida produces a significant amount of profes-

sional athletes in a myriad of sports. One such athlete is Julien Williams. Williams ran track at West Orange High School and earned an athletic scholarship to Michigan State University. It was there that he met his roommate

Rashad Evans. Evans is the former UFC light heavyweight champion. Evans sparked Williams’ interest in MMA, Mixed Martial Arts, and for the past 3 years Julien has been fighting as a welterweight amateur. With two amateur wins under his belt, Williams will be fighting as a professional in the XFC 9 Evolution (Xtreme Fighting Championships) the largest MMA promotion in the southeast.

I sat down with Julien to briefly pick his brain about the best and worst parts of MMA. Obviously the best part is being able to hit people for money. Hell, I know a few people I would love to hit and you don’t have to pay me for that. Another plus, according to Williams, is that working out and fighting makes you tough. Um…Julien, I would hope that repeatedly getting hit in the face and head would make one tough. Just joking. On the con-trary, working out can also be the worst part of MMA. A fighter’s body endures a lot of stress not to mention that training to fight can be very time consuming. What does Julien do when he isn’t training for a fight? Training. By day, Williams is a personal trainer for all demographics--young, old, fat, skinny, male or female. With a body like he’s got, I’m definitely signing up for a session or two. If you can’t make it to the fight it will be televised live on HDNet at 9pm.

Flag on tHe PlayThis really isn’t a big enough deal for me to give

him a timeout, so I’m just going to give Jay Cutler of the Chicago Bears a flag on the play. Cutler was talking a lit-tle recklessly to reporters about Devin Hester. Basically Cutler threw an interception and put the blame on Hester. Jay, you just got to the CHI; please don’t go pissin' off your team-mates already. Have we not learned anything from T.O. and McNabb...well T.O and anybody? Hester took the high road by basically saying that what Cutler said was miscon-strued. I’m going to keep my eye on him, though, because he was known to talk recklessly in Denver too.
