On the day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit descended upon the apostles and the Blessed Virgin Mary, they were transformed into fiery proclaimers and evangelizers!! The listeners experienced a fresh anointing of the Holy Spirit through the apostles’ gift of tongues:

they heard Peter speaking in their native languages. The early Christians became powerful witnesses and brave martyrs for their faith in Jesus. That is the miracle of transformation the early Christian community experienced and we are invited to participate in the same movement of life.

The Holy Spirit, the Helper, is quietly at work in our different life situations. The Spirit calls us to repentance, calls us to Faith and to take up our cross and follow Jesus. He is always our Helper, always helping us to be what God made us to be, to be servants to one another. The Spirit promotes Jesus in our lives; He gathers us around the cross of Jesus, changes our lives, helping us to be more patient and forgiving, to seek new beginnings in our relationships with one another and to let the power of God's love have the final say over the conflicts we get into.

The Holy Spirit makes us His living temples (I Cor 3:16), teaches us to pray (Romans 8:26), strengthens us in our fight against temptations and in our mission of bearing witness to Christ by transparent Christian lives, makes us holy through the Sacraments - makes us children of God and heirs of Heaven through Baptism, makes us temples of God, warriors and defenders of the Faith, through Confirmation, enables us to be reconciled with God by pardoning our sins through the Sacrament of Reconciliation, gives us spiritual nourishment by converting

bread and wine into Jesus’ Body and Blood through Epiclesis.

The Spirit of God is the rhythm that moves the Church forward, uniting our many different voices into the Love of God. God has formed us into a community, a Church, an instrument for bringing his life and love into our world. Today we celebrate that presence in our midst. The Holy Spirit continues to “blow” through today’s Church giving life and direction to our mission and ministry to preach the Gospel to every nation, to immerse all of humanity into God’s love!!

Pentecost is the powerful beginning of the new life. The gift of the Holy Spirit moves its recipients to action and inspires them to share this gift with others. Weekly Parish Bulletin Changes. After some consultation, we are going to make some changes to our weekly bulletin format. We will give it a try and see how it goes, then evaluate. We are aware that few people actually read our weekly bulletin. It takes

several hours of work to bring together the many pieces of information, including clip art to make it attractive. We are going to attempt to use our website more, to post information, thereby using less paper. We are grateful for the businesses who financially support our bulletin. Their colour advertisements will be posted on our website. Here is what to expect, starting next weekend:

• One major bulletin per month, on the first weekend. This will include the developments in the Divine Renovation Network, information regarding parish programing and special meetings, etc. It will not include events not directly pertaining to Holy Family Parish. Of course, messages from the Bishop’s office will need to be posted in an effective manner. For the remaining weekends, there will be only one page, one side, including only essential information. • The regular weekly events, i.e., choir rehearsals and regular parish meetings, will not be included. Parish groups will need to provide their own communication networks and systems, i.e., CWL and Knights of Columbus, etc. • The mass intentions will no longer be posted in the bulletin. Rather, they will be posted on the bulletin board. • We will be advertising only parish events. • We will be taking advantage of our website, posting broader information there rather than on the printed page.

As mentioned earlier, we are going to try this new format for a period of time. Please give it some time before offering your immediate feedback. Many thanks!

Job Positions with the Parish. We are still looking for and praying for the right candidate to serve as our Business Manager. The interview team has been working to find the best person for this position. We will also be posting for a new position, Children Faith Formation Leader. At present we are fine-tuning the position description. This person will work in assisting children, ages, 7 to 14, to prepare for the reception of sacraments (Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation. Baptism, if needed). They will work with Fr. Seejo, our parish Catholic elementary schools and our Crossfire leaders. It is a contract, part-time position (15 hours/week).

Summer Camp. We are moving ahead in planning our Summer Camp, scheduled for the week of August 7th - 11th.

We pray for the deceased of our parish… Gloria Jarvis, Edward Deschaine
